Car rental terms and the documents you need

Who may rent

You must be at least 21 years old to rent a car from us. Conditions for drivers under 25, for premium classes and for additional drivers are set out in the rental agreement you sign.

• Thailand: the minimum age is 21; conditions for drivers under 25 and for premium classes are set out in the rental agreement.
• the USA (Florida): the minimum age is 21; drivers aged 21–24 pay a young-driver fee, the amount of which is quoted at booking; some premium classes and passenger vans may require 25, as stated in the rental agreement.
• the UAE: the minimum age is 21; for luxury, sports and exotic classes it is 25.
• Turkey: the minimum age of the renter and of additional drivers, and the required driving experience, rise with the class of the car; the exact requirements are set out in the rental agreement.

Documents

Every renter must present a passport, a valid driving licence and a bank card in the main driver's name. An International Driving Permit is required where the licence is not in Latin script.

• Thailand: passport, home driving licence and an International Driving Permit issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention and section 42 bis of the Motor Vehicle Act; ASEAN citizens may drive on their national licence.
• the USA (Florida): a physical licence card, which we must inspect under FS 322.38 — digital licences are not accepted — plus a passport for foreign visitors and a credit card in the main driver's name; an International Driving Permit is not required by Florida law (HB 7059, 2013).
• the UAE: residents present an Emirates ID and a UAE driving licence; tourists present a passport, a visa or entry stamp, a home licence and an International Driving Permit if the licence is not printed in Latin script.
• Turkey: citizens of the Republic of Turkey present a driving licence and an ID card or passport; foreign visitors present a passport, an entry stamp, a home driving licence and an International Driving Permit if the licence is not in Latin script; a credit card in the main driver's name is mandatory.

If your licence is not in English, carry an IDP or a certified translation as well: police and insurers must be able to read the document on the spot.

Booking and the rental agreement

A booking is made through our contact channels and is confirmed by a manager; the agreement you sign sets out the period, the place and time of hand-over, and the payment terms.

• Thailand: the agreement is written in Thai; the English text is a courtesy translation, and the Thai version prevails.
• the USA (Florida): the agreement is signed in person at hand-over — we inspect the physical licence and witness your signature under FS 322.38; Spanish and Portuguese translations are provided for convenience, and the English version prevails.
• the UAE: the agreement is concluded as set out in the rental agreement; documents are presented at pickup.
• Turkey: the reservation is finalised when you confirm the vehicle and services and pay; the confirmation is sent by email or SMS, and the contract is deemed concluded when that confirmation is sent.

Price and what it includes

The price you are quoted covers the hire of the car and the cover that comes with it. What is added to it depends on the country where you collect the car.

• Thailand: VAT 7% is included in the prices shown; the security hold is set out in the rental agreement.
• the USA (Florida): prices are shown before tax — Florida sales tax and the $2.00 per day rental car surcharge are added when you pay; state-minimum liability coverage and the Loss Damage Waiver are included.
• the UAE: comprehensive insurance (CDW) is included in the price; VAT 5% is shown separately and added to the base fee and any additional charges.
• Turkey: KDV (VAT 20%) is included in all prices and shown separately on your invoice; the security block is set out in the rental agreement.

Deposit

A security hold is placed on a bank card in the main driver's name at the start of the rental. The amount is set out in the rental agreement.

• Thailand: a security hold is taken on a bank card in the main driver's name; the amount is set out in the agreement, and the hold is released after the car is returned and inspected, subject to deductions for damage or violations.
• the USA (Florida): a security hold is placed on a credit card in the main driver's name at pickup; the amount is set out in the agreement and is released on return of the car, subject to any additional charges.
• the UAE: a security deposit is held on your credit or debit card at the start of the rental and is fully released after the car is returned and inspected, provided there is no damage, no traffic fines and no outstanding charges; release typically takes a few days, depending on your bank.
• Turkey: at vehicle delivery a security block is made on a credit card issued in the main driver's name; the block amount and refund conditions are set out in the agreement, and the block is released after the complete and undamaged return of the car.

Insurance and what it covers

Every rental includes cover for the car and for third parties, but what that cover is called and what it leaves out differ by country, so the terms of the country where you collect the car are set out in the rental agreement.

• Thailand: compulsory insurance (Por Ror Bor) covers injury to third parties; first-class (Class 1) insurance covers damage to the car, subject to an excess, and the exact cover and the excess amount are set out in the rental agreement.
• the USA (Florida): every rental includes Florida state-minimum liability coverage (personal injury protection and property damage liability) under Florida's no-fault law, and a Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) that waives our claims for damage to the car; the waiver is not insurance, and its terms and deductible are set out in the rental agreement.
• the UAE: comprehensive insurance with a Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is included in the rental price; it does not cover tyres, wheels, undercarriage or interior, and you remain responsible for the first portion of any claim unless additional coverage is purchased.
• Turkey: insurance coverage for the car is limited to compulsory traffic insurance (zorunlu trafik sigortası); the scope of additional insurance packages is set out in the rental agreement.

Fuel

The car is supplied with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank; otherwise the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the agreement.

• Thailand: The car is delivered with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank; otherwise you are charged for the missing fuel plus a refuelling service fee as set out in the agreement.
• the USA (Florida): Your car is delivered with a full tank of fuel; return it with a full tank to avoid refuelling charges, and the fuel policy is set out in the agreement.
• the UAE: The car is supplied with a full tank of fuel; return it with the same amount of fuel to avoid refuelling charges.
• Turkey: Vehicles are delivered with a full tank and must be returned at the same level; in case of missing fuel, the fuel cost and service fee are charged as specified in the agreement.

Mileage

Mileage is unlimited within the country where you collect the car, except in the United Arab Emirates, where an allowance of 250 km per day applies.

• Thailand: Mileage on Phuket is unlimited; the agreement sets out any condition on travel beyond the agreed provinces.
• the USA (Florida): Mileage within Florida is unlimited; travel to other US states is agreed when booking, and travel to Mexico or Canada is never permitted.
• the UAE: The fee includes 250 km per day; kilometres beyond this allowance are charged at the rate specified in the agreement.
• Turkey: The agreement sets out the mileage terms that apply to your booking.

Tolls and fines

Tolls, traffic-camera fines and parking penalties incurred during the rental are the renter's responsibility. We re-invoice them to you, together with any administration fee set out in the rental agreement.

• Thailand: traffic-camera and parking fines are issued to the car owner and re-invoiced to you, including the administration fee set out in the rental agreement.
• the USA (Florida): many Central Florida expressways are cashless, and the car is set up for electronic tolling; tolls are re-invoiced as recorded, on the terms set out in the rental agreement.
• the UAE: Salik toll charges are billed at cost and deducted from your security deposit or charged to your payment method after the rental; traffic fines are your responsibility.
• Turkey: HGS tolls and traffic fines incurred during the rental are the renter's responsibility; the HGS tag is present in the car, and tolls are collected as set out in the rental agreement.

Prohibited use

The car may not be used off-road, on beaches or unpaved tracks, as a taxi or ride-hailing vehicle, for racing or towing, for hire or reward, or for any unlawful purpose. Off-road use voids insurance cover.

• Thailand: the car may not be used off-road, on beaches or jungle tracks, as a taxi or for ride-hailing services such as Grab or Bolt, for racing, or for travel to mainland Thailand beyond the provinces agreed in the agreement. Crossing the border to another country is not allowed without our written consent.
• the USA (Florida): the car may not be driven off-road, on unpaved roads or on a beach, used to carry passengers or cargo for hire, used for illegal activity, taken outside the United States, or driven by a person not named in the agreement.
• the UAE: the car may not be used for racing, towing or off-road driving, by any person not listed in the agreement or without a valid licence, or to carry passengers or goods for hire or reward. Driving to Oman requires a separate permit and additional insurance arranged in advance.
• Turkey: the car may be used only on paved and stabilised roads. Racing, towing, illegal purposes, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, taking the car outside the country without permission, and transferring it to third parties are prohibited.

Delivery and return

We hand the car over to you by appointment and collect it at the end of the rental; the place and time are agreed when you book, and the conditions of the country where you collect the car are set out in the rental agreement.

• Thailand: Delivery across Phuket and to Phuket International Airport is free; collection is arranged at the end of the rental, and the place and time are agreed when you book.
• the USA (Florida): Delivery across Greater Orlando and to Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) is free, including hotels, resorts and vacation homes; return details are set out in the rental agreement.
• the UAE: Delivery and collection run across Dubai, including the airport; the terms are set out in the rental agreement.
• Turkey: Delivery across Istanbul and to both airports is free; the car is brought to the address you wish by appointment, and return is made to the same point at the date and time in the contract.
