Car rental without a deposit
Rent-Trip offers 24 cars for car rental without a deposit in Toronto, from C$ 38 to C$ 70 a day, with weekly bookings from C$ 228 and monthly from C$ 798.
How car rental without a deposit in Toronto works
The terms of the booking are set out in the rental agreement, so the money side is clear before you drive.
What no deposit means for your card
The reservation itself is agreed with a manager: the delivery address, the date and the time, all confirmed before it is fixed.
Where the deposit, excess and fees are written down
That document is where the money side of the booking actually lives, and it is the one to read before the car moves.
- Deposit: whether one applies to your booking at all, and on what terms, is stated in the rental agreement.
- Delivery fees: delivery to an address in Toronto is agreed with a manager, and any fee is written into the agreement.
- Discounts: longer bookings are priced as weekly from C$ 228 or monthly from C$ 798, with the exact terms in the agreement.
- Fuel: the car comes clean with a full tank and goes back full — the missing fuel and a refuelling fee are set out in the agreement.
Documents and licence for car rental without a deposit in Toronto
Which licence a visitor can drive on
A visitor to Ontario for less than 3 months can use a valid driver's licence from their own province, state or country. If you will be visiting from another country for more than 3 months, you will need an International Driver's Permit (IDP) from your own country. An IDP cannot be issued in Canada, so arrange it at home before you fly.
Insurance and ownership permit in the car
Ontario requires the driver to carry insurance for the car and the original or an exact copy of the ownership permit. The same folder holds the rental agreement, which is where the deposit, the insurance excess, delivery fees and any discount are set out; never a figure on this page.
- Ownership permit: the original or an exact copy, as Ontario requires.
- Rental agreement: the document that carries the excess, fees and discount terms.
- IDP: needed only for a stay in Ontario beyond 3 months, and obtained at home.
Minimum age and young-driver terms
That split matters more than it looks. The law sets who may hold a licence, while the rental terms set who may drive our cars — and the second is a commercial condition, not a statute.
What the documents cost you in practice
The car is supplied with a full tank and returned with a full tank — full-to-full — and the missing fuel plus a refuelling service fee, if any, are charged as set out in the rental agreement. Everything else about the booking is a conversation with a manager: the delivery address, the date and the time are agreed before the booking is fixed, and the cards we accept are part of that same conversation.
Car rental without a deposit in Toronto: cars on this page
Rent-Trip keeps 24 cars for this page, split into seven classes, and the terms of each booking are set out in the rental agreement.
Classes and daily rates at a glance
| Class | Cars | From, per day | Seats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crossover | 7 | C$ 49 | 5 |
| Sedan | 1 | C$ 62 | 5 |
| Comfort | 2 | C$ 68 | 5 |
| Minivans | 1 | C$ 68 | 8 |
Cheapest and largest cars on the page
The Mitsubishi Mirage is the cheapest at C$ 38 a day, and the Nissan Sentra is the most expensive at C$ 70. Between those two ends sit the Toyota Yaris at C$ 50, the Mitsubishi RVR at C$ 53 and the Kia Soul at C$ 63 — all three hatchbacks or crossovers with five seats and front-wheel drive. For a group, the 8-seat Honda Odyssey at C$ 68 costs less per head than two 5-seat crossovers booked side by side, and the Chevrolet Spark is the only 4-seat car here at C$ 66. In our experience the widest spread sits in Economy, C$ 38 to C$ 66, so it pays to check the whole class rather than take the first entry price you see.
- Fuel: 23 cars run on petrol and one is a hybrid — the Toyota Camry sedan, which pairs a 2.5 L engine with 225 hp.
- All-wheel drive: the Volkswagen Tiguan, Acura RDX, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Acura MDX, Volvo XC60, Honda Pilot and Hyundai Palisade send power to all four wheels.
- Seats: 19 cars seat five, three seat eight, one seats seven and one seats four.
- Body types: eight crossovers, eight SUVs, four hatchbacks, three sedans and one MPV.
- Brands: 12 manufacturers, from Mitsubishi and Chevrolet to Mercedes-Benz, Volvo and Acura.
Longer bookings and what they cost
Weekly bookings run at daily times six and monthly at daily times 21, which is how a C$ 38 day becomes C$ 228 a week and C$ 798 a month. Weekly and monthly rates apply across the fleet, so the same multiplier holds whether you take the Mitsubishi Mirage or the Nissan Sentra. The deposit, the insurance excess, delivery fees and any discount are set out in the rental agreement — never a figure on this page.
Picking a class for the trip you have planned
A crossover covers most city driving and weekend runs out of town, and seven of them are on the page from C$ 49. If you are carrying six or seven people, the 7-seat Acura MDX at C$ 64 and the three 8-seaters (Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade and the Honda Odyssey MPV) at C$ 68 a day are the only cars that will do it. Premium cars — the Acura RDX, Mercedes-Benz GLA, Acura MDX and Volvo XC60 — start at C$ 59 and give all-wheel drive with 221 hp or more.
Delivery for car rental without a deposit in Toronto
Rent-Trip delivers the car to any address in Toronto and to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) and John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM). The car comes to you clean with a full tank, and the reservation is agreed with a manager before it is fixed.
Where we deliver
- Any address in Toronto: home, hotel, workplace or a friend's driveway — the exact spot is agreed with a manager when you book.
- Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ): the main international gateway, roughly 36 km by road from the downtown core and about 38 minutes without traffic.
- Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ): the downtown-adjacent field, about 6 km and 12 minutes by road from the centre.
- John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM): the western alternative, around 86.7 km and 73 minutes by road.
- Union Station, Downtown Toronto, Mississauga, North York, Scarborough and Vaughan: all inside our delivery area, so any of them works as a hand-over point.
- Outside these places: arranged case by case and not promised on the site — ask the manager before you count on it.
What we agree with a manager before the booking is fixed
- Date and time: the slot that suits your flight or your first morning in the city, confirmed by the manager.
- Card and payment questions: which cards are accepted is settled at the same moment, so nothing surprises you at hand-over.
- Minimum age and young-driver terms: also agreed when booking — the legal minimum to drive in Ontario is 16, and the rental minimum is a separate matter.
- Fuel: the car is supplied with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank; the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the rental agreement. No pre-paid tank or full-to-empty option exists on this site.
The delivery fee, the deposit and the insurance excess are not figures you will find on this page — they are set out in the rental agreement, and that document is the one to keep for the whole booking.
If your plans move — a delayed flight, an earlier arrival — say so before the slot is fixed rather than after the car is on its way.
Driving a no-deposit rental car beyond the city
Where the car can go, and what to settle first
- Crossing into the United States: most cars hired in Canada may be taken across the border, but only with permission from the rental point, and some classes — exotics, large vans — are excluded; without written permission the trip breaks the agreement and the insurance.
- At the border: a passport is what the officer asks for, so pack it before you leave the delivery address.
- Territory limit: the exact territory allowed on your booking is agreed when booking, not assumed from this page.
Winter tyres, tolls and fuel on the road
Ontario does not require winter tyres, so nothing on a booking here forces them. Quebec does: from 1 December to 15 March they are mandatory for vehicles registered in Quebec, rental cars included, with a fine of C$ 200–300 — a car carrying plates from another province is not covered by that rule.
Highway 407 ETR is the toll road to know: it has no booths, and for passenger cars the rate runs from 49.93¢ to 119.21¢ per kilometre depending on zone and time of entry, plus a C$ 1 trip toll charge. Without a transponder there is a camera charge of C$ 5.30 per trip and a C$ 5 monthly account fee. Who pays road charges, tolls and penalty notices on a hired car is not fixed by this page — it is agreed when booking, so put the question to the manager before the car arrives.
Fuel is the simple part. The car comes with a full tank and goes back full; anything missing plus a refuelling service fee is charged as set out in the rental agreement.
Everywhere else the signs rule, so read them rather than assume. Ontario treats alcohol strictly: from 0.08 it is a criminal matter, the 0.05–0.079 warn range brings an immediate 7-day licence suspension, an 8-hour course and a C$ 250 fine for a first offence, and drivers aged 21 or under, or holding G1/G2, are at zero.
For a long trip, the arithmetic of a weekly booking is worth doing early: weekly is daily × 6 and monthly is daily × 21, so a seven-day hire at the C$ 38 Mitsubishi Mirage rate comes to C$ 228 and a month to C$ 798.
Trip scenarios for car rental without a deposit in Toronto
The 24 cars on this page cover six trip shapes: a solo city week, a couple's weekend, a family of five, a group of seven or eight, a long stay, and a cross-border run.
Solo and couple trips
The Mitsubishi Mirage at C$ 38 a day is the page minimum, which makes it the natural pick for one person with a bag. A couple with luggage sits better in the Toyota Yaris at C$ 50 or the Mitsubishi RVR at C$ 53 — both five-seat, front-wheel drive, and small enough for downtown parking.
Family and group trips
Five people fit in 19 of the 24 cars, so a family of five has the widest choice on the page. Seven seats exist in exactly one car — the Acura MDX at C$ 64 — and eight seats in two SUVs (Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade) plus the Honda Odyssey MPV, all at C$ 68 a day. For a group of eight, that C$ 68 splits four ways per couple, which is where a single larger car beats two smaller ones on both the paperwork and the parking.
Long stays and cross-border runs
For a run to the United States, most cars hired in Canada may cross, but only with permission from the rental point and with some classes excluded — settle that in the booking conversation, not at the border.
Comparing classes for car rental without a deposit in Toronto
Seven classes sit on this page, and the gap between them is seats, drivetrain and equipment — not the booking model. Every one of the 24 cars is automatic and every one is booked under the same no-deposit condition.
| Class | Cars | From, per day | Drivetrain | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Economy | 4 | C$ 38 | Front-wheel | One or two people, city driving |
| Crossover | 7 | C$ 49 | Front-wheel | Couples, light luggage, weekend runs |
| SUV | 5 | C$ 58 | All-wheel | Winter roads, gravel, five plus bags |
| Premium | 4 | C$ 59 | All-wheel | Long highway days, 221 hp and up |
| Comfort | 2 | C$ 68 | Front-wheel | Quiet highway cruising |
| Minivans | 1 | C$ 68 | Front-wheel | Eight people with luggage |
The single Sedan is the Toyota Camry, the only hybrid here, and the single Minivan is the Honda Odyssey.
What to read in the rental agreement
Territory: the exact area your booking covers, including any cross-border permission, is agreed when booking.
Common mistakes with car rental without a deposit in Toronto
Assuming winter tyres: Ontario does not require them; Quebec does from 1 December to 15 March for cars registered there, with a fine of C$ 200–300, and a car on other plates is not covered by that rule.
