It restricts cars without a DGT environmental badge that are not registered in Girona; there is an allowance of 24 days a year inside the restricted hours without a permit, and cameras read number plates rather than the sticker. The badge question resolves itself: the Spanish fleet carries the distintivo ambiental, and a car with the badge faces no restriction at all.

Tolls, child seats and what to check before you set off

• Tolls: the AP-7 from Vila-seca to La Jonquera — the whole Barcelona–Girona–French border corridor — has been free since 01.09.2021, and the C-32 Maresme (Montgat–Palafolls), which is the route up from Barcelona towards Blanes and Lloret de Mar, had its barriers removed on the night of 31 August to 1 September 2021.
