What the roads ask of an economy car

Beach Road and 2nd Road run one-way anticlockwise around the centre, so a missed turn costs you a full loop rather than a U-turn. Built-up limits sit at 80 km/h, outside them 90 km/h, and Motorway 7 allows 120 km/h — but enforcement on that motorway runs mainly through speed cameras, and a camera fine is issued to the car owner, which is us, then re-invoiced to you. The single most useful habit is to plan the loop before you enter it.

U-Tapao is the closest gateway at 48.9 km by road and roughly 62 minutes without traffic, Suvarnabhumi sits 115.8 km away at about 100 minutes, and Don Mueang is 151.3 km out at around 121 minutes. Day trips work the same way: Nong Nooch and Khao Chi Chan are about 24 km and 23 km out, Khao Kheow Open Zoo around 47 km.
