For a 3-4 day trip, it is more advantageous to keep the daily rate; however, a week-long route to Cappadocia already falls under the weekly rate — extending daily would make the difference reach a full rate.

- Volkswagen Golf: Comfort class 2,500 TL/day — Petrol, 1.5 L, 150 hp. We take it for city trips with passengers: more spacious than a Polo, and 150 hp is enough for safe overtaking on the highway to Şile.
- Volkswagen T-Roc: Crossover 2,900 TL/day — Petrol, 1.5 L, 150 hp. The high driving position and ground clearance are useful on dirt roads to the beaches of Ağva, but the model does not have all-wheel drive - the rental agreement prohibits off-road driving.
Transporter vs Caravelle vs Caddy: 8 and 9 seats, cargo
- Volkswagen Transporter: 8-seat Minivan, Diesel, 2.0 L, 150 hp, 5,300 TL/day. Ideal for transfers from Sabiha Gökçen to hotels on the European side: diesel is more economical than petrol over long distances.
- Volkswagen Caravelle: 1. 6,500 TL per day for 9 seats, Diesel, 2.0 L, 150 hp. The only model with luggage space for groups of 8-9 people — for example, for a few days' trip to Cappadocia.
- Volkswagen Caddy: 3. 5-seater panel van, diesel, 2.0 L, 122 hp, 2,200 TL per day. The cargo compartment without rear seats is suitable for transporting construction materials or large shopping — plasterboard sheets fit in the 2.2-meter body.
4. For a couple with two suitcases for a week in Sapanca, a Polo is sufficient, but for a family trip with children to Bursa, a Golf is more practical. If the route includes the Osmangazi Bridge and long distances, a diesel Passat (3,200 TL per day) or Transporter pays for itself thanks to fuel consumption: the difference with petrol reaches 2-3 liters per 100 km. Before booking, state the number of passengers and luggage capacity — for 8 adults and their suitcases, a Caddy is no longer suitable, a Caravelle is needed.
Rental Conditions: Documents, Age, Deposit
To rent a Volkswagen at Rent-Trip, a minimum set of documents is required: a passport with an entry stamp to Turkey, a national driver's license, and a credit card in the main driver's name for the insurance deposit. If the license is not issued in the Latin alphabet, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is also required. Istanbul Airport (IST) is in Arnavutköy on the European side; Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) is in Pendik on the Asian side, and the drive between them takes 1.5–2 hours depending on traffic. We deliver cars to both airports and greet our customers in the arrivals area with a name sign. If your flight is delayed, the delivery time shifts—just let us know by message. For early flights, you can pick up the car the evening before and spend the night at a hotel near the airport without losing the morning to transfers.

How Does Vehicle Delivery Work
One day before the rental starts, we contact you to confirm the exact time and meeting address—it could be a hotel, airport, or residential area. At delivery, we check the car for scratches and stone chips, record them in the handover report, and then you sign the contract. Along with the keys, you receive the vehicle documents and HGS instructions—the system is already linked to the license plate, no separate activation is needed. Return is arranged similarly: we pick up the car from the agreed point, you hand over the keys and sign the return report. Roads, Bridges and HGS: Things to Consider While Traveling
Toll bridges, tunnels, and highways in Istanbul operate via the HGS electronic system—without it, crossing the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge or the Eurasia Tunnel results in a fine. Let's examine how the tolls work and what to check before leaving the city.
HGS: How the System Works
- HGS (Fast Pass System): ... electronic toll payment — the sticker affixed to the windshield is automatically read at toll collection points; you don't need to stop.
- Where it is valid: Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, the Eurasia Tunnel under the Bosphorus, the Osmangazi Bridge, and toll sections of motorways across Turkey.
- Balance: Before setting off, check that your HGS account has sufficient balance - you can top it up via the bank app or terminals.
Our vehicles already have the HGS tag installed, and on the rental day we share the current account balance with the customer. If you are planning long-distance routes — for example, to Bursa via the Osmangazi Bridge — let us know at the time of booking, and we will check whether there is sufficient balance for the entire trip.

The Eurasia Tunnel night tariff applies during dark hours and the difference is noticeable: crossing between the European side and the Asian side is twice as cheap after sunset. The Osmangazi Bridge is the most expensive crossing on the list, so it is more advantageous to spread the toll across the entire route by extending your trip to Bursa or Uludağ over at least a day.

Passing without paying - 'violation crossing' - is recorded by cameras at the toll booths. If you do not pay your debt within the specified period, the fine quadruples: for the Yavuz Sultan Selim, an unpaid 110 TL becomes 440 TL. In practice, we hear two questions most often from our customers: where can one go in a day, and which model should be chosen for a long route. Short getaways of 1-2 hours
- Şile and Ağva: About 1.5 hours from Üsküdar, the Black Sea coast; the road passes between forest and summer houses, and the last kilometers are winding.
- Sapanca: a lake at the foot of the mountain, about 2 hours from the O-4 motorway towards Adapazarı; popular for lunch by the water.
- Bursa and Uludağ: 2–2.5 hours via the Osmangazi Bridge; the bridge is toll, TRY 1,170 with HGS.
For such routes, a Polo (1,850 TL/day) or Golf (2,500 TL/day) is sufficient — Petrol, Automatic, 5 seats. On the highway, the Golf with 1.5 L and 150 hp overtakes more safely than the Polo with 1.0 L and 95 hp; the fuel difference per 100 km is about 0.5-1 liters in favor of the Polo. On weekends (Saturday and Sunday), demand for economy cars is at its highest, so on Friday evening the hatchback fleet is often sold out — book in advance.
Long journeys — what to consider
- Cappadocia: One way about 8 hours; this route usually requires a program of at least 3-4 days via Ankara or Eskişehir.
- Edirne: 2.5–3 hours west; a getaway near the Greek and Bulgarian border.
- Toll passages: Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge — 110 TL, Eurasia Tunnel — 280 TL during the day and 140 TL at night; all are collected via HGS, no cash payments.
For distances over 400 km per session, we recommend the Passat (3,200 TL/day) or the T-Roc (2,900 TL/day): the 2.0 L diesel in the Passat provides about 900 km of range on a tank, compared to 600–650 km in petrol models. If you're going for a week with five people and luggage, take the Caddy (2,200 TL/day) — a panel van with 5 seats and a large cargo area; it's cheaper than the Golf, but falls behind the Passat in rear-seat comfort.
