The Girona low-emission zone on the way inland
The Zona de baixes emissions (ZBE) de Girona has been in force since 15.09.2025 and covers the ground from the la Devesa park to c. d'Emili Grahit, and from c. del Riu Güell to c. del Carme and the Barri Vell. It operates 7–20, Monday to Friday, on working days, and restricts cars without a DGT environmental badge that are not registered in Girona. Cameras read number plates, so there is no sticker to display at the roadside. There is a 24-day-per-year allowance inside the restricted hours without a permit, and foreign plates can get a temporary authorisation if the car meets the technical and environmental requirements.
Our cars are part of the Spanish rental fleet and carry the DGT badge, so the zone does not restrict them. If your route takes you through Girona rather than around it on the AP-7, that is worth knowing before you set off — a car without the badge turns a straightforward run into a detour.
