Pattaya's boats are sold in four different units — a return trip to Koh Larn, a four-hour block, an eight-hour day and a six-hour fishing outing — and each unit hides a different total.
What you book: the whole boat with a captain
A boat hire here means the whole boat for your group, priced per boat rather than per seat. The Rent-Trip section on this page brings together 11 models, from a nine-seat speedboat to a 45-foot motor catamaran for 30 guests, and the eight whose terms are spelled out all include the captain. The three Koh Larn speedboats are sold as return trips from the mainland to the island and back, so the crossing itself is what you pay for. That changes how a group tour compares with a private speedboat in Pattaya: a tour sells seats on a shared boat, while here one figure covers the boat whatever your headcount. In my view, the honest comparison starts with the price for the whole boat — divide it by your real number of guests only after that.

Turning every quote into an hourly figure
Where the hours are known, the price per hour runs from about ฿2,000 to ฿5,850. The Sea Ray 260 Sundancer costs ฿16,000 for eight hours, or ฿2,000 an hour, and the Speed catamaran Ramayana ฿19,000 for eight, about ฿2,375. At the other end, the Regal 3260 Commodore asks ฿23,400 for four hours — ฿5,850 an hour — and the Monterey 328 SS comes to about ฿4,610 an hour across its eight-hour day. The two fishing speedboats work out at about ฿4,170 and ฿5,500 an hour over their six-hour outing. The Koh Larn speedboats do not convert at all: their price covers a return run, not a block of time. Hourly maths works for a cruise along the coast; for an island drop-off, compare return-trip prices with each other and leave the hourly figure aside.

Same-day return or a night on the island
Coming back on a different day adds ฿500 on the Junior and the Grande and ฿1,000 on the Jumbo. That makes the overnight version of a speedboat charter in Pattaya only 10–17% dearer than the same-day one: ฿3,500 against ฿3,000 for nine people, ฿7,000 against ฿6,000 for thirty. The step from the smallest boat to the largest is bigger — the Jumbo costs twice as much as the Junior for more than three times the seats. Is a bigger speedboat worth it for a small group? Which Koh Larn beaches a speedboat can reach
- No extra fee: Thong Lang beach, Ta Waen beach and the Na Ban pier are covered by the round-trip price on these speedboats.
- Extra charge: landing at Samae, Tien or Nual beach costs more than the base trip, so ask for the amount with the quote.
- No access: Ta Yai beach cannot be reached by these boats, so choose one of the other landing points for the group.

Half day against full day
Two of these boats offer both blocks, and the full day costs only about 1.3 times the half day. The Regal 3260 Commodore is ฿23,400 for four hours and about ฿30,500 for eight; the Custom Speedboat 40 ft is ฿20,800 for four and about ฿26,200 for eight. Doubling the time therefore adds roughly ฿5,400–7,100, not a second half-day price. Per hour, the Regal falls from ฿5,850 to about ฿3,810, and the Custom speedboat from ฿5,200 to about ฿3,275. For boat rental in Pattaya this is the clearest saving in the section — and it shows why a cheap-looking half day can turn out the dearer choice. If the plan includes Koh Larn plus a swim stop, or anything past four hours on the water, price the full day before settling on the shorter block.
Cabins, berths and a toilet on board
Cabins set three of these boats apart from the rest. The Sea Ray 260 Sundancer has two cabins with four sleeping places and a bathroom, the Monterey 328 SS one cabin that sleeps two plus a bathroom, and the Regal 3260 Commodore takes eight guests by day and four overnight. The Speed catamaran Ramayana has a toilet, a freshwater shower and a sunbathing area on the roof — useful on an eight-hour day with 30 people aboard. The Yamaha YF-24, a 25-foot fishing boat, has a small cabin with a toilet. For the open Koh Larn speedboats no cabin is mentioned, which on a short crossing hardly matters. Shade and a toilet do matter for a full day with children or older guests, so check those two details before you compare on price alone.
Build year, engines and speed
Build dates span twelve years across the five boats where they are known. The Regal 3260 Commodore and the Custom Speedboat 40 ft are the oldest, launched in the same year; the Sea Ray 260 Sundancer is one year younger, the Monterey 328 SS nine years younger than the Regal, and the Speed catamaran Ramayana the newest, twelve years younger. Age does not set the price: the Monterey is the dearest model here at ฿36,900, while the newer Ramayana costs ฿19,000 for the same eight hours with three times the guests. Speed is a separate question — the Custom 40 ft reaches up to 40 knots on two 300 hp engines, the Regal 34 knots on two 350 hp, the Monterey 32 knots on two 260 hp. What a fishing trip includes
- Captain: all three fishing boats go out with a captain, so nobody in the group has to take the helm.
- Tackle: spinning rods, tackle and bait come with the 29 ft and 37 ft speedboats, and the Yamaha YF-24 carries rods and bait too.
- Drinks and snacks: soft drinks are included on all three boats, and the Yamaha trip adds sandwiches, a snorkel and a mask.

Choosing a fishing boat by price per angler

Price per seat across the 11 boats
Per seat at full load, the Koh Larn speedboats are by far the cheapest boats in the section. The Grande and the Jumbo come to about ฿200 a seat for 25 and 30 people, and the Junior to about ฿333 for nine. The Speed catamaran Ramayana works out at about ฿633 per guest for 30 on an eight-hour day, the Custom Speedboat 40 ft at about ฿867 for 24 over four hours. Cabin boats sit far higher: about ฿1,600 a head on the Sea Ray 260 Sundancer, ฿2,925 on the Regal 3260 Commodore and ฿3,690 on the Monterey 328 SS. A full load is the ideal case, though. Do the division with your actual headcount — a half-full Ramayana costs about ฿1,270 per person, close to the full Sea Ray.
Matching the boat to the group
Group size points to a different boat at each step. Up to nine people heading for the island fit the Junior, the cheapest speedboat to Koh Larn at ฿3,000 for a same-day return. Between 10 and 25, the Grande carries the whole group for ฿5,000, while 26 to 30 people need the Jumbo at ฿6,000 or, for a longer day out, the Ramayana at ฿19,000. Small groups who want shade and a cabin for a full day look at the Sea Ray 260 Sundancer for ten guests or the Regal 3260 Commodore for eight. Groups of up to 24 who want speed and several stops can take the Custom Speedboat 40 ft. Before any of this, count everyone who will be on board, children included, and set that number against the stated capacity before you compare prices.
Piers, fuel, deposits and a request that compares like with like
The last factors are the ones a headline price does not show: the departure point, whether fuel is extra and what happens to a deposit if plans change.
Where the boats leave from
Departure points differ by type of trip. Speedboat transfers to Koh Larn are offered from Bali Hai pier at the southern end of Pattaya Bay, though for the Junior, Grande and Jumbo the pier is not named. The Monterey 328 SS and the Speed catamaran Ramayana are based at Ocean Marina Yacht Club in Jomtien, and the fishing trips on the 29 ft and 37 ft speedboats and the Yamaha YF-24 start from Jomtien beach. For the Regal 3260 Commodore, the Sea Ray 260 Sundancer and the Custom Speedboat 40 ft only the city is named, without a specific marina. Bali Hai and Jomtien sit on different stretches of coast, so the transfer from your hotel belongs in the plan. Ask for the exact pier with every quote — an offer that names only the city leaves the most practical detail of the day open.
Fuel and what else sits outside the price
Fuel is the biggest line a headline price may leave out. On four boats — the Regal 3260 Commodore, the Sea Ray 260 Sundancer, the Monterey 328 SS and the Custom Speedboat 40 ft — fuel is not included, so the four- or eight-hour figure covers the boat and captain only. On the Speed catamaran Ramayana and the Yamaha YF-24 fuel is part of the price. For the remaining five boats the terms do not say either way. The Ramayana's ฿19,000 is also an estimate to be confirmed for your date, not a fixed rate. Without fuel inside both figures, two quotes are simply not comparable — so ask for a price with fuel before setting the Regal against the Ramayana.
Deposits and cancellation
Cancellation terms are stated for four boats, and none of them refunds a late cancellation. On the Regal 3260 Commodore, cancelling four weeks or more before the date returns 50% of the deposit; inside four weeks nothing comes back. On the Custom Speedboat 40 ft the early refund is 25%, again with nothing back inside four weeks. The Speed catamaran Ramayana gives no refund at all if you cancel, and on the Yamaha YF-24 the deposit is lost once paid — although if the trip is cancelled from the boat's side, the full amount is returned. For the other seven boats the policy is not stated and is worth asking about. Fix the date only when the group is sure, and for fishing, ask whether a weather reschedule is possible before the deposit goes.
