Kia car rental in London
Our fleet on this page holds 7 Kia models, from the Kia Picanto at £27 a day to the Kia Sorento at £49, with weekly bookings from £162 and monthly from £567.
Kia Car Rental in London at a Glance
Rent-Trip keeps 7 Kia cars on this page — four classes, £27 to £49 per day, petrol and hybrid, manual and automatic. Every one of them is delivered to the address you give us, and the delivery address, date and time are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed.
Which Kia Models Are Available for Hire
| Model | Class | Seats | Gearbox | Fuel | From (per day) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kia Rio | Economy | 5 | Manual | Petrol | £31 |
| Kia Picanto | Economy | 5 | Manual | Petrol | £27 |
| Kia Stonic | Crossover | 5 | Automatic | Petrol | £30 |
| Kia Ceed Sportswagon | Comfort | 5 | Manual | Petrol | £31 |
| Kia Ceed | Comfort | 5 | Manual | Petrol | £34 |
| Kia Sportage | SUV | 5 | Manual | Petrol | £35 |
| Kia Sorento | SUV | 7 | Automatic | Hybrid | £49 |
The class you pick decides the gearbox and the seats more than the badge does — only the Crossover and the largest SUV come with an automatic. If an automatic matters to you, book it first and choose the body afterwards.
How the Classes Compare Across the Fleet
- Economy: two hatchbacks from £27 a day, both 1.0 L petrol manuals with 5 seats — the cheapest way into the fleet.
- Crossover: one car from £30 a day, the only automatic below the SUV class, so it covers drivers who want a small body and two pedals.
- Comfort: two 118 hp petrol manuals from £31 a day — a hatchback and an estate, both with 5 seats.
- SUV: two cars from £35 a day, one a 5-seat petrol manual and one a 7-seat hybrid automatic.
A class's «from» price is its cheapest car, not the top of the range — the SUV band runs to £49 because the 7-seat hybrid sits in it. In our experience, travellers who compare classes by the «from» figure alone then book the wrong body: check the seats and the gearbox on the row you want, not the headline.
Delivery to Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, London City and Southend is part of what we arrange, alongside any address in the capital — the exact point is confirmed with a manager. Fuel works full-to-full: the car comes clean with a full tank and goes back full, and anything else is set out in the rental agreement.
Kia car hire with us starts with the smallest hatchback and ends with a seven-seat hybrid, so the fleet covers a solo city week and a family run to the airports on the same booking system. What we cannot do is hold a model open indefinitely — with 7 cars across four classes, the automatic and the seven-seater go first, so fix the dates early and the rest follows.
Economy and Comfort Kia Car Rental in London for City Driving
The four smaller Kias on this page split into two pairs: two Economy hatchbacks built for tight streets and cheap days, and two Comfort cars that carry more without leaving the compact class. Both pairs are petrol and manual, both seat five, and all four run a 1.0 L engine in different states of tune — 67 hp in the Picanto, 99 hp in the Rio, 118 hp in the Ceed pair.
Kia Rio and Kia Picanto as the Economy Pair
The Kia Picanto is the cheapest car on this page at £27 per day; the Rio is the other Economy hatchback at £31. Both are 1.0 L manual petrol with 5 seats and front-wheel drive, so the real gap between them is output and footprint: 99 hp in the Rio against 67 hp in the Picanto, and a Picanto body that slots into kerbside gaps the Rio has to circle. Neither is a motorway machine — at 67 hp the Picanto is happiest under 50 mph, and the Rio's extra 32 hp mostly buys you a safer slip-road merge. In our experience the Picanto earns its place on Mayfair side streets and multi-storey car parks where a turning circle matters more than a third lane. Choose the Rio when your day includes a ring-road run, the Picanto when it is short hops between appointments.
Kia Ceed and Ceed Sportswagon in Comfort Class
Comfort class holds two 118 hp 1.0 L petrol manuals — the Ceed hatchback at £34 and the Ceed Sportswagon estate at £31 a day. Both share the same 118 hp tune, so the decision is purely about what you put behind the rear seats. The estate is the cheaper of the two, which runs against the usual assumption that more body costs more money: the Sportswagon gives you the longer roof and the flat load bay for £3 a day less than the hatchback. Airport runs with two large suitcases and hand luggage fit the estate without folding anything down; the hatchback wants one seat dropped. The estate also swallows a folded pushchair or a week of trade samples that would otherwise ride on the passenger seat.
| Model | Class | Seats | Gearbox | Fuel | From (per day) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kia Rio | Economy | 5 | Manual | Petrol | £31 |
| Kia Picanto | Economy | 5 | Manual | Petrol | £27 |
| Kia Ceed Sportswagon | Comfort | 5 | Manual | Petrol | £31 |
| Kia Ceed | Comfort | 5 | Manual | Petrol | £34 |
We deliver any of these four to an address in London or to one of the six airports we cover, and every Kia car rental in London booking has the address, date and time agreed with a manager before it is fixed. One practical note from Rent-Trip handovers: the Picanto's 1.0 L three-cylinder is sensitive to a heavy right foot, and short urban trips with repeated cold starts will drink more than the official figure suggests — plan fuel stops accordingly, since the car goes out full and comes back full.
Family and Longer Trip Kia Car Rental in London Options
Seven seats, a 135 cm rule and a boot that has to swallow a pushchair — family bookings fail on details, not on the car itself. We keep one seven-seater among the seven Kia models on this page, and the rest of the fleet covers five-seat trips with varying amounts of luggage room.
The 7-Seat Hybrid Option
The Kia Sorento is the only 7-seat car on this page — a 1.6 L hybrid with an automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive at £49 a day. Its 230 hp petrol-electric drivetrain is the strongest unit on this page, and the third row folds to free up load space when the last two seats stay empty. All-wheel drive matters on wet motorway surfaces and on the gravel car parks that sit at the end of many weekend routes out of the city.
Only one Sorento is held here, so a seven-seat booking is worth fixing early rather than left to the week of travel — the other six Kias seat five and cannot be substituted once the dates are set. Choose the hybrid if the trip mixes town crawling with a long motorway run: the electric side does the slow work, the petrol engine the fast.
Child Seats and Seat Belt Rules
- Height before age: children must use a child seat until they reach 135 cm or turn 12, whichever comes first — a tall eight-year-old may legally travel on the belt alone while a small eleven-year-old may not.
- The fine: up to £500 for the driver if a child under the threshold is not properly restrained, and the responsibility sits with whoever is driving.
- Booster stage: once the child passes 135 cm, a booster is optional rather than required, though the belt must still sit across the shoulder, not the neck.
- Adults: a seat belt is compulsory wherever one is fitted, front or rear.
- Planning: raise child seats with the manager at booking and say how many children travel, since whether and how they are provided is agreed when booking.
Five-Seat Kias for Longer Runs
The Kia Sportage carries five in a 1.6 L 150 hp petrol manual at £35 a day, and the Ceed Sportswagon estate adds a long, flat boot at £31 — the cheaper of the two Comfort cars. For a family of four with luggage, the estate usually beats the SUV on space per pound, while the Sportage wins on ride height and the higher seating position that makes long motorway stints less tiring. Both are front-wheel drive and manual. If the trip runs a week, the weekly rate is the daily rate times six; a month is the daily rate times 21. Delivery to your address is agreed with a manager when you book, and so is the date and time.
SUV Kia Car Rental in London
Two SUVs sit in our fleet here: the Sportage and the Sorento. They share a badge and a body style, but they are built for different journeys — one is a five-seat petrol manual, the other a seven-seat hybrid automatic with all-wheel drive.
Kia Sportage Against the Sorento
Both are front-of-range SUV class, and together they account for 2 of the 7 cars on this page. The Kia Sportage is a 1.6 L 150 hp petrol manual with 5 seats at £35 a day; the Sorento adds two seats, a hybrid engine and all-wheel drive for £49. The Sportage carries a 1.6 L petrol engine driving the front wheels through a manual gearbox — a setup most drivers already know from a hatchback, only raised and roomier. Boot volume grows with the body: the Sportage is a five-door SUV, the Sorento a larger three-row. Only the Sportage is manual — drivers who want an automatic in this class have one option, so if the gearbox matters more than the seats, book the Sorento early rather than assume a swap is possible on the day.
What the SUV Class Covers
- Body: both are listed as SUV, so the difference is size and row count, not shape.
- Gearbox: the Sportage is manual, the Sorento automatic — the class splits evenly, one of each.
- Drivetrain: front-wheel drive on the Sportage, all-wheel drive on the Sorento.
- Fuel: petrol in the Sportage, hybrid in the Sorento — the only hybrid on this page.
- Price band: SUV is the widest class on the page, running from £35 for the Sportage to £49 for the Sorento.
Driving a Larger Kia Around the City
A full-size SUV changes how you plan a day in London. The Congestion Charge zone runs 07:00–18:00 Monday to Friday and 12:00–18:00 at weekends and on bank holidays, at £18 a day paid on the day or in advance, or £21 if paid by midnight on the third day after the trip. The ULEZ charge is £12.50 a day for non-compliant vehicles and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, except 25 December, across all 32 boroughs. Both our SUVs are petrol and hybrid, so check the vehicle against the TfL vehicle checker before you set off. Parking is the other constraint: a Sorento needs a bay sized for a three-row SUV, and multi-storey height barriers catch tall roofs. In our experience, drivers collecting at Heathrow or Gatwick do better routing around the centre on the M25 than cutting through it — the Dartford Crossing charges £3.50 per crossing, or £2.80 if you pay in advance. Sort the delivery address and time with a manager when you book; who pays the charges is agreed then too.
Automatic or Manual Kia Car Rental in London
Five of our seven Kias come with a manual gearbox and two with an automatic, and the split follows the class rather than the badge. Six run on petrol and one is a hybrid, so the choice is narrower than the model list suggests.
- Kia Stonic: Crossover, 1.0 L petrol, 99 hp, front-wheel drive, £30 a day — the cheaper of the two automatics.
- Kia Sorento: SUV, 1.6 L hybrid, 230 hp, all-wheel drive, 7 seats, £49 a day — the only hybrid here.
- Everything else: Rio, Picanto, Ceed Sportswagon, Ceed and Sportage are all manual, so an automatic request narrows the fleet to two cars fast.
Manual Kia Car Rental: What the Five Offer
The five manual Kias cover Economy, Comfort and one SUV, all with a 1.0 L or 1.6 L petrol engine and front-wheel drive. The Kia Rio and Kia Picanto are the Economy pair at £31 and £27 a day, both 5-seat hatchbacks. Comfort brings the Ceed Sportswagon estate at £31 and the Ceed hatchback at £34, each with 118 hp. The Sportage closes the manual group: a 1.6 L SUV with 150 hp at £35 a day. A manual is worth choosing only if you are comfortable changing gear with your left hand while keeping to the left of the road — the Highway Code, rule 160, puts you on the left unless signs or markings say otherwise, and rule 183 keeps you near the left edge when turning. In our experience most renters who ask for an automatic here are thinking of the traffic rather than the car, and the Stonic answers that at the Crossover price.
Petrol, Hybrid and the Gearbox That Comes With Them
- Petrol, manual: Rio, Picanto, Ceed Sportswagon, Ceed, Sportage — five cars, all front-wheel drive.
- Petrol, automatic: Stonic — one car, front-wheel drive.
- Hybrid, automatic: Sorento — one car, all-wheel drive, the only one of its kind on this page.
- Fuel rule: every car leaves with a full tank and comes back full; the missing fuel and a refuelling fee are set out in the rental agreement.
If the gearbox matters more to you than the body style, book by gearbox first and class second — the automatic list is two cars long, and the Sorento is the most expensive car on this page at £49 a day. Delivery to your address and the date and time are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed.
Where We Deliver a Kia Car Rental
We deliver every Kia on this page to any address locally, and to all six airports serving the city: Heathrow (LHR), Gatwick (LGW), Stansted (STN), Luton (LTN), London City (LCY) and Southend (SEN). The delivery address, the date and the time are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed — nothing is dispatched until that conversation is closed.
Delivery Points We Cover
- Any local address: home, hotel, office or a friend's driveway — the exact postcode is confirmed with a manager when you book.
- Heathrow (LHR): the busiest of the six, with 84,481,178 passengers a year and roughly 45 minutes from the centre without traffic.
- Gatwick (LGW): 42,775,241 passengers a year, about 70 minutes by road from the centre.
- Stansted (STN): 29,758,490 passengers a year; the airport sits north-north-east of the city, around 63 minutes out.
- Luton (LTN): 17,770,247 passengers a year, roughly 63 minutes by road.
- London City (LCY): the closest of the six at about 33 minutes, with 3,737,888 passengers a year.
- Southend (SEN): the smallest at 719,513 passengers a year and the furthest, around 74 minutes.
In our practice the two busiest pickups are the Eurostar arrivals at St Pancras and the ExCeL events calendar — both are worth booking several days ahead rather than the morning of travel. The same applies to timing: a 06:00 airport hand-over is a conversation, not a form field.
When the Address Is Outside the List
Delivery beyond these places is arranged case by case and is not promised on the site, so a Kia car rental in London outside the list is confirmed only after the manager has the postcode. If you are staying somewhere not named above, tell the manager the postcode at the booking stage and the answer comes back before anything is confirmed. The car arrives clean and with a full tank, and comes back full — that is the fuel rule on every booking.
One practical note from Rent-Trip: build the Congestion Charge into your plan rather than discovering it later. The zone runs 07:00–18:00 Monday to Friday and 12:00–18:00 at weekends and on bank holidays, at £18 a day if you pay on the day or in advance, or £21 if you pay by midnight on the third day after the trip. It is not charged from 25 December through to the New Year bank holiday inclusive. Who covers road charges and penalties on a rental car is agreed when booking — ask before you drive into the zone, not after.
Driving a Kia Car Rental in London on Local Roads
The country drives on the left, and every Kia on this page is right-hand drive, so the first mile is a mirror check rather than a road test. The Highway Code rule 160 puts you on the left unless signs or markings say otherwise, and rule 183 keeps you near the left edge when turning. Roundabouts run clockwise and you give way to traffic approaching from the right — rule 185. In our experience the drivers who struggle are the ones who learned on the right, so take the first ten minutes on a quiet street before joining anything fast.
Speed Limits and the Signs That Override Them
- Built-up areas: 30 mph (48 km/h) in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and on lit roads 30 mph is the default when no sign says otherwise.
- Single carriageway: 60 mph (96 km/h); dual carriageway: 70 mph (112 km/h); motorway: 70 mph (112 km/h).
- City zones: many signed 20 mph areas sit below the national figure, and the sign always wins over the default.
Charges Inside the City
The Congestion Charge runs 07:00–18:00 Monday to Friday and 12:00–18:00 on Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays, at £18 a day paid on the day or in advance, or £21 if paid by midnight on the third day after the trip. It is not charged from 25 December through the New Year bank holiday inclusive. ULEZ applies 24 hours a day, seven days a week except 25 December, at £12.50 a day for vehicles that do not meet the standard — petrol cars from 2006 and diesel from September 2016 meet it. A ULEZ or Congestion Charge penalty notice is £180, reduced to £90 if paid within 14 days. Who pays road charges, tolls and penalty notices on a rental car is agreed when booking.
Tolls, Fuel and the Rules You Must Not Break
Dartford Crossing (Dart Charge) on the M25 costs £3.50 per crossing for cars, or £2.80 prepaid, usually 06:00–22:00 every day, payable by midnight the following day; the penalty is £70, £35 if paid within 14 days. Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels charge £4.20 at peak (northbound 06:00–10:00, southbound 16:00–19:00 on weekdays) and £1.55 off-peak with Auto Pay. Holding a phone at the wheel costs £200 and 6 points, and a driver within 2 years of passing loses the licence. Children need a child seat until 135 cm or 12 years, whichever comes first, with a fine up to £500. Fuel prices vary by forecourt. Our cars go out full and come back full — the missing fuel and a refuelling fee follow the rental agreement otherwise.
