The Zona de baixes emissions (ZBE) de Girona has been in force since 15.09.2025 and covers the area from la Devesa park to c. d'Emili Grahit and from c. del Riu Güell to c. del Carme and Barri Vell. It operates 7–20, Monday to Friday, on working days, and restricts cars without a DGT environmental badge that are not registered in Girona. There is a 24-day-a-year allowance inside the restricted hours without a permit, and cameras read number plates rather than checking a sticker on the windscreen. Spanish fleets carry the DGT badge, so a car from Rent-Trip is not affected by the restriction; foreign-plated cars need a temporary authorisation if they meet the technical and environmental requirements.

Tolls, fuel and parking

• Tolls: the AP-7 from Vila-seca to La Jonquera, the whole corridor down to the French border, has been toll-free since 01.09.2021, and the C-32 Maresme and C-33 are free too — barriers came down on the night of 31 August to 1 September 2021.

Parking is where the planning pays off. Lloret de Mar's Can Lloranes car park has 160 spaces and costs about 15 EUR per day between 23 June and 11 September, free the rest of the year, and the Avinguda Alegries park-and-ride gives 200 spaces free for stays over 12 hours with a free bus into the centre. In Girona, the zona blava charges 1.20 EUR per hour with a two-hour cap, Monday to Saturday in working hours, so a long museum stop needs a different spot.

One thing worth checking before a Cap de Creus day: the road from Cadaqués to the Far de Cap de Creus is closed to cars at set hours through the season (daily 9:30–21:30 from July to 13 September), when the car stays at the free Corral d'en Morell car park and the Moventis line 33 shuttle runs to the cape, so plan the lighthouse for before 9:30 or take the shuttle.
