Minivans car rental in Toronto for groups of 7 or 8 with luggage
Seat count, not engine size, is what decides how a group of six travels with luggage — so pick the row layout before you pick the model.

A family of five or six with two weeks of luggage
We deliver the minivan to your address in Toronto or to the airport, so the loading happens at your door rather than in a car park.
Minivans car rental in Toronto rates for a day, a week or a month
Rates for minivans car rental in Toronto run from C$ 68 to C$ 156 a day, and the longer you book, the less each day costs: a week is charged as six days and a month as twenty-one. The figures below are the ones we work from, and the booking itself is agreed with a manager.
How the daily rate turns into a weekly or monthly booking
A week is charged as six days and a month as twenty-one, so longer bookings cost less per day. Take the Honda Odyssey at C$ 68 a day: seven days come to C$ 408, and thirty days to C$ 1,428. The Chrysler Grand Caravan follows the same rule at the top of the range — C$ 156 a day becomes C$ 936 for a week and C$ 3,276 for a month. Work out your own trip by the multiplier rather than by the calendar — that is where the real saving on a long rental shows up, and it is the number a manager will quote back to you.
The cheapest and the most expensive minivan on the page
- Honda Odyssey — C$ 68 a day: the cheapest of the six, 8 seats, 3.5 L petrol engine, 280 hp.
- Kia Carnival — C$ 98 a day: 8 seats, 3.5 L petrol, 287 hp.
- Toyota Sienna — C$ 107 a day: the only hybrid here, 2.5 L, 245 hp, 8 seats.
- Chrysler Pacifica — C$ 137 a day: 7 seats, 3.6 L petrol, 287 hp.
- Chrysler Grand Caravan — C$ 156 a day: the most expensive on the page, 7 seats, 3.6 L petrol, 287 hp.

Delivery of your minivan rental in Toronto to the door or the terminal
For minivans car rental in Toronto we bring the minivan to you rather than asking you to collect it from a lot. Delivery runs to any address in the city and to three airports, and the exact address, date and time are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed. That order matters: we confirm the hand-over point first, then lock the reservation around it.
Where we bring the car and how the hand-over is fixed
- Any address in the city: we deliver to homes, hotels and short-stay apartments anywhere in Toronto, so the van is waiting when your group lands.
- Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ): the main international gateway, 36 km by road from the centre and about 38 minutes outside rush hour.
- Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ): the downtown island airport, 6 km and roughly 12 minutes by road — the quickest terminal to reach.
- John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM): 86.7 km out, about 73 minutes without traffic, for groups flying into the western side.
- Agreed before confirmation: the delivery address, the date and the time are settled with a manager, and only then is the booking fixed.
Areas inside the delivery zone
Union Station, Downtown Toronto, Mississauga, North York, Scarborough and Vaughan all sit inside the Rent-Trip delivery area, which covers the whole city and the ring of districts around it. Anything outside these places is arranged case by case and is not promised on the site — so if your address sits past the edge of the zone, raise it at the booking stage rather than on the morning of collection.
What to have ready when the van arrives
The car comes clean with a full tank, and it must go back full — missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the rental agreement.
Petrol or hybrid minivan rental in Toronto and what fuel costs
Five of our six minivans run on petrol and one is a hybrid — the Toyota Sienna. Regular petrol sits at about C$ 1.75 a litre, so the fuel bill on a two-week family trip is worth planning before you pick a model.
The one hybrid in the fleet and when it pays off
The other five burn petrol: the Honda Odyssey (3.5 L, 280 hp), Dodge Grand Caravan (3.6 L, 283 hp), Kia Carnival (3.5 L, 287 hp), Chrysler Pacifica (3.6 L, 287 hp) and Chrysler Grand Caravan (3.6 L, 287 hp). Match the model to the kilometres you will actually drive, not to the label.
Full-to-full fuel and where to refuel
- Full tank out, full tank back: the minivan is handed over with a full tank and must be returned full; the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the rental agreement.
- No pre-paid option: we offer no pre-paid tank and no full-to-empty scheme on this page, so the full-to-full rule is the only fuel arrangement.
Light-vehicle rates depend on the zone and the time you enter, plus a trip toll charge; without a transponder there is a camera charge per trip and a monthly account fee.
Documents for minivans car rental in Toronto and driving rules
Insurance and the car's registration travel with the vehicle, and a trip south of the border needs permission before you leave, not after.
Which licence you need as a visitor
Visitors to Ontario for less than 3 months drive on a valid driver's licence from their own province, state or country. Stay longer than 3 months and the rule changes: a visitor from another country needs an International Driver's Permit (IDP) from their own country — and an IDP cannot be issued in Canada, so it has to be arranged before the flight. The minimum age to drive by law is 16.
Insurance, the ownership permit and crossing into the US
- Ownership permit: carry the original or an exact copy of the vehicle registration document in the car at all times.
- US border: most cars hired in Canada may be taken into the United States, but only with permission from the specific rental location — some classes, such as exotics and large vans, are restricted.
- Without written permission: crossing the border breaks the rental agreement and voids the insurance, and a passport is required at the border itself.
Rules of the road worth knowing before you set off
Ontario's blood-alcohol limit is a criminal matter from 0.08 (80 mg per 100 ml of blood), and the 0.05–0.079 warn range brings an immediate 7-day licence suspension, an 8-hour course and a fine for a first offence. Drivers aged 21 and under, and holders of G1 or G2 licences, must show zero alcohol. Winter tyres are not compulsory in Ontario; Quebec requires them from 1 December to 15 March for Quebec-registered cars, hire cars included, with a fine, and vehicles plated in other provinces are exempt. Tolls, charges and any penalty notices on the car are agreed when booking.
Winter driving and tolls on a minivan rental in Toronto
We set out both below, so you know what is a legal rule, what is our own practice, and what is simply agreed when you book.
Winter tyres: what applies to our cars
What that means in practice is that a vehicle registered in Ontario can legally cross into Quebec in January on all-season rubber, while a Quebec-registered one cannot.
Highway 407 ETR: the toll road with no cashier
Light-vehicle rates depend on the zone and the time you enter, plus a trip toll charge. Without a transponder there is a camera charge per trip and a monthly account fee. Who covers road charges, tolls and any penalty notice on a rental car is not fixed by us in advance: it is agreed when booking, and it is written into the rental agreement.
Driving rules worth knowing before you set off
- Blood alcohol: criminal from 0.08 (80 mg per 100 ml of blood); the 0.05–0.079 warn range brings an immediate 7-day licence suspension, an 8-hour course and a C$250 fine for a first offence.
- Young and novice drivers: zero tolerance applies to drivers 21 and under and to G1/G2 holders — no alcohol at all.
- Documents in the car: insurance for the vehicle plus the original or an exact copy of the ownership permit, and the legal minimum age to drive is 16.
Day trips from the city in a minivan rental in Toronto
A minivan earns its keep on the highway, not the driveway. Six or seven people, a week's luggage and a full tank cover the distances that make a weekend out of town work — and the out-of-town routes we have pages for run from Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake through Muskoka, Blue Mountain, Algonquin Park and Prince Edward County to Thousand Islands, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City.
Highway 407 ETR is the tolled route with no cash booths, and light-vehicle rates depend on the zone and the time you enter. There is a trip toll charge, and without a transponder there is a camera charge per trip plus a monthly account fee. Pump prices sat around C$1.75 a litre for regular.
Winter tyres and the provincial line
In Quebec they are mandatory from 1 December to 15 March for vehicles registered there, hired cars included, with a fine — and cars plated in other provinces fall outside that rule.
Crossing into the US with seven people aboard
Most vehicles hired in Canada can be taken into the United States, but only with permission from the specific rental location, and restrictions apply by class — large vans among them. Driving across without written permission breaks the agreement and the insurance, and a passport is needed at the border. Ask a manager for that permission in writing when you book, not the morning you plan to cross.
What to check before a long run
- Fuel: the car leaves with a full tank and comes back full; missing fuel and the refuelling fee follow the rental agreement.
- Hand-over: the delivery address, date and time are fixed with a manager before the booking is confirmed.
