The Micra at AED 60/day and the Sunny at AED 65/day are the most budget-friendly Nissans in our range, both running on 1.6 L petrol engines. The Micra is a 5-seat hatchback with 106 hp and a shorter body, which makes it noticeably easier to slot into tight parking bays around Dubai Marina and JLT. The Sunny, a 5-seat sedan with 118 hp, feels more settled at highway speeds on Sheikh Zayed Road and suits commuters covering longer daily distances. For solo city driving, the hatchback Micra is easier to park in Marina; Sunny suits highway commutes.
Family and group options: Patrol and X-Trail
The Patrol seats 7 at AED 700/day, while the X-Trail seats 5 at AED 230/day. The Patrol carries a 5.6 L engine with 400 hp and offers three rows of seating, so a family of six fits only the Patrol — no other model we rent has 7 seats. The X-Trail, with a 2.5 L engine and 181 hp, offers SUV ride height and boot space for a family of four or five without the fuel appetite of the bigger car. Enthusiast choice: Nissan GT-R
The GT-R, a 4-seat sports coupe with 570 hp from a 3.8 L twin-turbo engine, rents at AED 1600/day and requires the driver to be at least 25. This is the only model in our Nissan range with a 4-seat layout, and its launch feel on the open stretches toward Abu Dhabi is a different experience from the rest of the lineup. The Patrol's 5.6-litre V8 and the GT-R's 3.8-litre unit are about presence and pace rather than economy. Both drink more at the pump, and the GT-R's low-profile tyres suit smooth asphalt, not rough side roads. For the GT-R, keep it to city showcases and the occasional early-morning run to Al Ain — that is where it earns its rate.
Power-to-seats rule: match the engine to passenger load first — a 1.6-litre Sunny with five adults and luggage feels sluggish on the motorway, while a 400 hp Patrol for two people in the city is wasted money. Consider the 2.5-litre Altima as the middle ground: five seats, 188 hp, and enough boot space for four suitcases — the sensible pick for a family of four on a two-week stay.
Where You Can Drive a Rental Nissan in Dubai
A Nissan from us is yours to drive across the UAE, not just within city limits. The main restriction is simple: stay on paved roads — desert and off-road driving are prohibited by the rental agreement. Everything else, from daily commutes on Sheikh Zayed Road to weekend trips to neighbouring emirates, is allowed.
Within Dubai and Out of Town
You can drive your Nissan anywhere in the UAE — the city itself, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Hatta, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah are all permitted destinations. Each emirate is reachable by well-maintained highways. Hatta, the emirate's eastern exclave, is roughly 90 minutes from the city centre — a popular weekend escape. If you plan to cross into Oman, note that it requires a separate permit and separate insurance arranged in advance; we cannot authorise that crossing on a standard agreement.
Salik Tolls and Parking
The city uses Salik, a barrier-free toll system that charges your plate automatically as you pass under a gate. Each gate costs AED 4 off-peak and AED 6 during peak hours, and how the charge is settled is set out in the rental agreement. A drive from Dubai Marina to Downtown Dubai along Sheikh Zayed Road can pass two gates, so factor AED 8–12 into a typical cross-city trip. Parking in malls and public lots is generally paid; most accept card at the barrier.
What's Prohibited: No Off-Road
Desert driving, dune bashing and any off-road use are strictly prohibited by the agreement. The fine print exists because our Nissans are road vehicles with standard tyres and no desert-protection equipment — the conditions of use are set out in the rental agreement. For desert excursions, book with a licensed tour operator who runs dedicated 4x4s on approved routes. Your Nissan is for tarmac: city streets, highways and the paved mountain roads around Hatta — nothing beyond that.
Documents and Requirements for Nissan Hire
Getting your Nissan rental in Dubai comes down to three things: the right documents, meeting the age limit, and having a card for the deposit. The rules differ slightly for residents and tourists.
Tourists: licence and IDP rules
Tourists hiring a Nissan need a passport, a valid entry stamp or visa, and a full home driving licence. If your licence is not printed in Latin script — for example, in Arabic, Chinese, Japanese or Cyrillic — you must also carry an International Driving Permit alongside it. Licence holders from the UK, the US, most of Europe, Australia and the Gulf states can drive directly on their home licence without an IDP. Any further conditions on your passport or entry stamp are set out in the rental agreement.
Residents and age limits
- Emirates ID and UAE licence: residents must show both when the car is delivered.
- Minimum age 21: applies to the Micra, Sunny, Altima, Kicks, X-Trail and X-Terra.
- Age 25 for luxury and sports: the Patrol and the GT-R require the main driver to be at least 25 years old.
- Under-25 drivers: can still rent the Sunny or Altima without a young-driver surcharge — those models fall outside the luxury and sports classes.
Under-25s should simply pick from the economy, sedan or crossover segment. The age cut-off at 25 is set by our insurer, not by us, and it applies to both residents and tourists. A security deposit is held on the main driver's card at delivery and released after the car is returned; the deposit amount is agreed when booking.
What's Included in Every Nissan Rental
Every Nissan rental from Rent-Trip comes with comprehensive CDW insurance and 250 km per day included in the quoted price. The rate you see for each model — from the Micra at AED 60 per day to the GT-R at AED 1600 per day — already covers basic protection and the daily mileage allowance. What changes between bookings is how you drive, and that is where the agreement matters.
Insurance and mileage
- Comprehensive CDW insurance: included in every Nissan booking at no extra cost.
- 250 km per day: included across the whole fleet; a Dubai Marina to Abu Dhabi round trip is roughly 280 km, so plan for a few extra kilometres on that run.
- Extra kilometres: charged per the agreement at a rate set out before you confirm.
- Excess amount: set out in the rental agreement.
For a week here, the included mileage gives you 1750 km, which covers city driving and a weekend run out of town without going over. If your route is mostly Sheikh Zayed Road between Marina and Downtown, you will barely touch the allowance. Long-distance drivers should estimate their Abu Dhabi or Ras Al Khaimah trips before booking — a Nissan Sunny at AED 65 per day with a few extra kilometres still undercuts most alternatives.
Deposit and VAT
A security deposit is held on your card at pickup and released after the booking is completed and the car is inspected. The deposit amount depends on the model class and is set out in the rental agreement — we confirm it when you send your booking request. VAT at 5% is shown separately on the final invoice, meaning the daily rate you see is not the final total. For a Nissan Altima at AED 150 per day for a week, the VAT adds AED 52.50 to the base price of AED 1050. Factor that into your budget when planning your rental.
