The 24 kWh to 52 kWh span covers €40 to €50, so pick by daily distance rather than by seats. The Fiat 500e and the Citroen e-C3 are the two cheapest ways into the class at €40 and €42, while the Renault 5 E-Tech carries the largest pack at 52 kWh and 150 hp for €48. The Peugeot e-2008 is the only crossover of the five and sits at the top of the range at €50.

The multipliers do the work here: a week at daily × 6 and a month at daily × 21 bring the effective day rate down the longer you book. If your stay straddles a month boundary, ask the manager to price the whole period in one stretch rather than two separate bookings.

Charging on the coastal run and up to Cap de Creus
Plan the return leg before you leave rather than after the range warning appears. If your route takes in the Cap de Creus road, check the seasonal access window first, because the road is restricted on set days and hours, and a charge stop planned around a closed barrier wastes the afternoon.

Driving an electric rental car from the airport to the resorts
Girona-Costa Brava Airport (GRO) sits at Vilobí d'Onyar, 12.5 km south-west of Girona; Barcelona-El Prat (BCN) is the far one. We deliver to either, and the address, date and time are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed.
Distances from each airport
- Girona-Costa Brava (GRO): to Lloret de Mar 34.6 km, about 37 minutes via the C-63 and A-2; to Roses 75.2 km, about 63 minutes, mostly on the AP-7.
- Barcelona-El Prat (BCN): to Lloret de Mar 89.6 km, roughly 75 minutes without traffic, along the C-32, C-31 and B-10.
- Between resorts: the coast is a chain of towns rather than one destination, so a car is what links them; GRO sits 54.4 km from Palafrugell.
Tolls, parking and the low-emission zone
The AP-7 corridor from La Jonquera down through Girona to the southern end of the coast has been toll-free since 01.09.2021, and the C-32 Maresme barriers between Montgat and Palafolls came down the same night. So the motorway legs of these airport runs cost nothing. The tolls that remain in Catalonia are the C-16 (Cadí, Vallvidrera, Sant Cugat–Terrassa–Manresa) and the C-32 south of the coast towards Castelldefels, Sitges and El Vendrell — neither sits on a Costa Brava route. In Girona, zona blava parking runs Monday to Saturday in two windows, 9:30–13:00 and 16:00–20:00, at €1.20 per hour with a two-hour maximum, so €2.40. The Zona de baixes emissions (ZBE) de Girona applies from 15.09.2025, Monday to Friday on working days, 7:00–20:00, to cars without a DGT environmental label that are not registered in Girona. Rental fleets in Spain carry the DGT label, so a car from us is not restricted by it.
What the drive actually demands
Speed limits are the same everywhere on these roads: 120 km/h on autopista and autovía (AP-7, A-2, C-32, C-33) and 90 km/h on carretera convencional such as the GI-614, GI-682 and C-260.
Girona low-emission zone rules for electric car rental in Costa Brava
An electric car clears the low-emission rules on this coast without an argument. The Zona de baixes emissions (ZBE) de Girona has been in force since 15.09.2025, and it applies to cars without a DGT environmental label that are not registered in Girona.
Where the Girona ZBE applies and when
The zone runs from la Devesa park to c. d'Emili Grahit, and from c. del Riu Güell to c. del Carme and Barri Vell. Restricted hours are 7–20, Monday to Friday, on working days. Enforcement is by camera: number plates are read, and you do not display the sticker.
Why an electric car passes
Spanish fleets carry the DGT environmental label, and cars with the sticker face no restriction in the zone. All five models we run are electric, automatic and front-wheel drive, so the class itself is the answer: Fiat 500e, Citroen e-C3, Peugeot e-208, Renault 5 E-Tech and Peugeot e-2008, from €40 to €50 a day. There is also a general allowance of 24 days a year inside restricted hours without a permit, which matters if you drive a non-labelled car to the coast.
Parking rules that catch visitors out
- Zona blava, Girona: paid Monday to Saturday on working days, 9:30–13 and 16–20, at 1.20 €/h with a two-hour maximum (2.40 €); Sant Narcís runs to different hours.
- Zona verda, Girona: non-residents pay 1.20 €/h for a two-hour maximum; Pedreres–Vista Alegre runs Monday to Friday 9:30–13 and 17–20, Saturday 9:30–13, while Güell–Devesa runs Monday to Saturday 8–20.
- Lloret de Mar, Can Lloranes: 160 spaces, about 15 €/day from 23 June to 11 September, free the rest of the time.
- Lloret de Mar, Avinguda Alegries: 200 park-and-ride spaces, free for stays over 12 hours, with a free bus ticket into the centre, 15 June–15 September.
The camera-enforced zone is easy to miss: check the label before you plan a drive into Girona, because the plate is read whether or not you knew the rule existed.
Day trips and longer routes in an electric rental car

Beyond Cadaqués the lighthouse road is the one piece of the coast where access is restricted by date — daily 9:30–21:30 from July to 13 September — and the calendar is published in advance.

Rent-Trip fuel policy and what the agreement sets out
The car is supplied with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank, the Spanish lleno-lleno rule. No other fuel option — a pre-paid tank, full-to-empty — is offered on the site. The minimum rental age, the young-driver surcharge, the cards accepted and the territory limit are agreed when booking. Fuel is the one cost you steer yourself, and the electric class makes it simple: every car here runs on electricity, automatic and front-wheel drive, from the Fiat 500e at €40 a day to the Peugeot e-2008 at €50.
Documents and the driving side
- EU/EEA licences: fully valid in Spain while they are in date; nothing extra is needed, and an IDP is not required.
- Non-EU licences: DGT recommends getting an international driving permit before the trip and carrying it with your passport and national licence.
- Permiso Internacional de Conducción: a supplementary document, shown only together with your passport and national licence, valid for one year.
- Licences not in Spanish: valid either with an official certified translation into Spanish or if issued under the model of Annex 9 of the Geneva Convention or Annex 6 of the Vienna Convention.
