For narrow streets around Ciutat Vella and Gràcia, a lower, wider exotic limits where you can place the camera; check the approach before you commit to the model, not after it is delivered.

Of the models listed here, only the Fiat 500C carries a manual gearbox: 1.0 litre, 70 hp, front-wheel drive, hybrid. Every other car on this page is automatic — from the Mini Cooper Convertible's 1.5 litre and 136 hp up to the 6.0 litre Bentley Continental GTC and the 830 hp Ferrari 296 GTB. For a shoot that involves repeated slow passes, reversing into position and stop-start work in traffic, an automatic saves the driver's attention for the framing rather than the clutch. If the brief calls for a manual hero car, the 500C is the one to book — and it is also the cheapest way onto this page at €35 per day.

Fuel type and what it means on the day

Diesel covers the Audi Q8 S Line, Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE, BMW X7 40d Pack M, Mercedes-Benz V-Class and Range Rover Vogue Autobiography. Petrol runs the convertibles, the sports coupes and most of the exotic class. Hybrid appears twice — the Fiat 500C and the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid at €576 per day — and plug-in hybrid twice more, in the Cayenne and the Ferrari 296 GTB at €1,232. A plug-in hybrid gives you a quiet, exhaust-free crawl for video, which is why we keep the 296 GTB on the shoot list rather than only on the weekend list.

The exact address, the time window and who meets the driver are confirmed with a manager during booking — we do not publish a list of fixed offices or counters, because the meeting point changes with the shoot.

What the delivery window depends on

Traffic inside the city is the single biggest variable on a shoot morning. The Rondes B-10 and B-20 run at an 80 km/h general limit inside the built-up area, and the C-16 with the Túnels de Vallvidrera carries a €4.7 car toll on the way out towards Sant Cugat and the Vallès.

Parking at the location is a second variable. AREA Blava A runs at €2.5 per hour and AREA Blava B at €2.25 per hour, and both are paid zones on working days. On a long shoot the car often stands for hours, so we agree in advance whether the set has private parking or whether the crew will feed a parquímetre between takes.

The ZBE Rondes de Barcelona covers more than 95 km² — the whole municipality except the Zona Franca industrial area and the Vallvidrera – el Tibidabo i les Planes neighbourhood — and applies on working days, Monday to Friday. A car registered abroad needs prior registration in the Registre metropolità de vehicles estrangers i altres vehicles autoritzats a les zones de baixes emissions before it may enter. What happens at hand-over

Every detail of the hand-over is set out in the rental agreement and settled when you book — the figures are not fixed on this page, because they follow the class you choose. The declared price of a rental in Spain has to include every mandatory charge without which the car cannot legally move, and the condition report has to list every scratch and dent before the car leaves, signed by both sides with a copy kept by the renter. On a shoot that matters more than usual: a car that arrives already marked should be photographed and written into that report before the first frame is shot, not after.

The low-emission zone and the environmental sticker

The Zona de Bajas Emisiones Rondas de Barcelona (ZBE Rondes BCN) covers more than 95 km² — the whole municipality apart from the Zona Franca industrial estate and the Vallvidrera – el Tibidabo i les Planes neighbourhood, plus L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Sant Adrià de Besòs and parts of Esplugues de Llobregat and Cornellà de Llobregat. It operates on working days, Monday to Friday, and the sticker on the windscreen decides whether you drive in or park outside and walk the last block. The two categories are 0 emisiones (blue) and ECO (blue-green). Parking on and near set

• AREA Blava A: the blue zone at €2.5 per hour, tariff A — the standard kerbside rate in the centre.
• AREA Blava B: the same blue zone at €2.25 per hour where tariff B applies.
• Residential zones at weekends: resident areas relax at the weekend, which is when most editorial work happens.
• Paid hours: AREA hours are set per zone and signed at the parquímetre; the comprovant d'estacionament must carry the car's own plate number.

Speed, alcohol and the fines that follow a shoot

Spanish limits are strict and the cameras are everywhere: 120 km/h on autopista and autovía, 90 km/h on a conventional country road, 30 km/h on a city street with one lane each way, 50 km/h where there are two or more lanes in one direction, and 20 km/h on a street with a single shared platform for traffic and pavement. The Rondes B-10 and B-20 inside the city run at 80 km/h unless a sign says otherwise. Alcohol is 0.25 mg/l of breath for most drivers and 0.15 mg/l for the first two years and for professionals; above 0.60 mg/l it stops being a fine and becomes a criminal offence. A phone in the hand is 200 EUR and 6 points, a seatbelt or child seat offence 200 EUR and 4 points, and speeding runs from 100 EUR with no points to 600 EUR with 6. Pay within 20 calendar days and the fine drops by 50%. If a shoot runs long, move the car before the zone turns paid — any charge that follows is set out in the rental agreement.

Documents and the agreement

Drivers from the EU and EEA hold licences that are fully valid in Spain until they expire, with nothing extra needed. Licences from outside the EU and EEA are accepted when they are in force, the holder meets the Spanish age requirement for the equivalent category, and no more than six months have passed since the holder took up ordinary residence here. A licence not written in Spanish needs either an official certified translation or a format matching Annex 9 of the Geneva Convention or Annex 6 of the Vienna Convention. The Permiso Internacional de Conducción is an additional document, valid one year, shown only together with the passport and the national licence.
