How the car reaches you and how the date is locked in

We deliver the car to the client, and every wedding booking is agreed with a manager — there is no instant checkout, because a wedding date is not a commodity booking.

• Delivery to you: the car is brought to the address you agree at booking, so nobody collects keys from a counter on the morning of the wedding.
• Booking with a manager: dates, class, rental length and the hand-over point are settled in one conversation before the reservation is confirmed.
• Minimum rental period: the minimum term and any seasonal conditions are confirmed with the manager when you book.
• Licence check: an EU/EEA licence is valid in France with no time limit; a non-EU/EEA tourist may drive on a national licence, with an official translation or an IDP alongside it if the script is not Latin.
• The IDP itself: it is a translation, not a licence — it is presented together with your national one, and it must be no more than 3 years old.
• Deposit and excess: the deposit, the insurance excess and any delivery terms are set out in the rental agreement.

Fix the wedding date early. The longer the booking, the more the class and the hand-over point matter, and both are agreed when the reservation is made, not on the day.

Weekly hire starts at €594 and monthly at €2,079, calculated as the daily rate times six and times twenty-one respectively. A Citroen DS3 Cabrio at €99 per day comes to €594 for the week, while a Mercedes-Benz S-Class at €350 per day reaches €2,100 for the same seven days — the difference between the two classes over a wedding week is wider than most couples expect. Take a Mini Cooper at €109 per day as a middle case: €654 weekly, €2,289 monthly. In our experience, couples who book a car for the full stretch around the wedding — arrival, ceremony, reception and the days between — get a better rate per day than those who take it for the single Saturday. If the wedding opens a week of hosting guests, price the weekly figure rather than adding separate days, and confirm the exact period when booking.

What the class actually changes

Class sets more than the price: it sets how many people fit and what the car is suited to. Convertibles seat 2 or 4, Premium hatchbacks and sedans seat 5, and the Luxury line runs from the Audi A6 at €195 per day up to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class at €350. A five-seat Premium sedan carries the couple plus witnesses or parents; a two-seat roadster carries the couple alone, and every additional passenger means a second car. Fuel and gearbox vary by model, so a diesel BMW 3 Series at €129 per day and a hybrid DS 7 Crossback at the same rate drive very differently across a day of stops. Check the seat count and fuel type before you book — changing class after the date is fixed is harder than choosing the right one first time.

Renting a vehicle for a wedding in Paris in a convertible

Ten of the 31 cars on this page are convertibles, and they start at €99 per day. A roof that folds away changes what a wedding day looks like: the arrival at the mairie, the drive down a tree-lined boulevard, the photographs between the ceremony and the reception. You drive yourself, so the roof goes down whenever you want it down.

Two-seat roadsters and four-seat cabriolets

Two seats or four is the decision that shapes the day. A roadster means the witnesses travel separately, and on a wedding morning that is one more car to arrange. A four-seat cabriolet keeps the couple and two guests in one vehicle, which is why we suggest booking it first and choosing the colour afterwards.

The loud arrival and the compact city option

The Ford Mustang Convertible is the car people book when they want to be heard before they are seen: 5.0 L, 450 hp, rear-wheel drive, automatic, €199 per day. At the other end of the class, the Citroen DS3 Cabrio opens the range at €99 per day with a 1.2 L, 110 hp engine and a manual gearbox — the only manual convertible here, and the easiest one to park. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet sits between them at €220 per day with 258 hp, and the BMW 4 Series Convertible at €175 per day with 184 hp.

The city rewards the smaller car. Kerbside space in the 1st to 11th arrondissements is charged progressively, and a short body makes the difference at a busy rank near a mairie or a restaurant. If the route runs out to Versailles or Giverny, the longer-legged cars — the Mustang, the C-Class Cabriolet — hold highway speed more comfortably. Premium and Luxury together cover 21 of the 31 cars on this page, from €105 to €350 per day, and they are the two classes most couples choose when the car has to look formal in photographs and still carry the wedding party between venues.

Premium sedans and hatchbacks

Premium holds 11 cars from €105, starting with the Mini Cooper 5-door at €105 and running to the Mercedes-Benz C-Class at €149. Between those two sit the Mini Cooper at €109, Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz A-Class at €119, BMW 1 Series at €125, BMW 3 Series and DS 7 Crossback at €129, Audi A4 at €139 and Volvo XC60 at €145. Five-seat hatches (Mini Cooper 5-door, Audi A3, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, BMW 1 Series) are the easiest to park near a mairie or a church, while the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class are rear- or front-wheel sedans with diesel engines and automatic gearboxes. The DS 7 Crossback and Volvo XC60 are the two hybrids in Premium, both automatic, at €129 and €145. A sedan is easier for guests in long dresses and heels: the sill is lower and the rear doors open wider than on a hatchback.

Where Luxury starts and what it adds

Luxury is 10 cars from €195, opening with the Audi A6 at €195 and closing with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class at €350. The band includes the BMW 5 Series at €205, Mercedes-Benz E-Class at €210, Volvo XC90 Hybrid at €230, Land Rover Range Rover Velar at €240, Porsche Macan at €245, Maserati Levante at €290, Porsche Cayenne at €310 and Porsche Panamera at €330. Seven seats appear only here, on the Volvo XC90 Hybrid — the single car on this page that carries the couple, two witnesses and three more passengers in one vehicle. All ten are automatic with all-wheel or rear-wheel drive, and the range spans 204 hp on the Audi A6 to 455 hp on the Volvo XC90 Hybrid.

Matching the class to the day

• Arrival and photos: a Luxury sedan with rear-wheel drive gives the longest bonnet line in photographs; the Porsche Panamera at €330 and Mercedes-Benz S-Class at €350 are the two longest cars here.
• Guest transport: the Volvo XC90 Hybrid at €230 is the only seven-seater, so it replaces two Premium hatchbacks for a party of six or seven.
• Wet-weather backup: all-wheel drive on the Audi A6, Volvo XC90 Hybrid, Land Rover Range Rover Velar, Porsche Macan, Maserati Levante, Porsche Cayenne, Porsche Panamera and Mercedes-Benz S-Class holds better on cobbles around Montmartre after rain.
• Budget split: two Premium cars at €105–€149 each cost less per day than one Luxury SUV, and give the photographer two angles.
• Fuel: Luxury runs on diesel (Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Land Rover Range Rover Velar) or gasoline — refuelling at a station is cheapest away from the périphérique.

Renting a vehicle for a wedding in Paris with the right seats

The wedding party sets three practical filters before anything else: how many people ride in the car, what fuel it burns, and whether anyone in the couple can drive a manual. Our 31 cars on this page answer all three — seat counts run 2, 4, 5 and 7, fuel covers Diesel, Electric, Gasoline and Hybrid, and both Automatic and Manual gearboxes are on the fleet.

Seats: which car fits which party

Fuel and gearbox: the two questions that decide the drive

Fuel splits four ways on this page: Gasoline covers most of the fleet from the Citroen DS3 Cabrio upwards, Diesel carries the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Land Rover Range Rover Velar, Hybrid covers the DS 7 Crossback, Volvo XC60 and Volvo XC90 Hybrid, and Electric is the MG Cyberster alone. Gearboxes are simpler: exactly one car here is Manual — the Citroen DS3 Cabrio — and every other model, from the Mini Cooper 5-door to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, is Automatic. If neither of you drives a manual, that single car is out before you look at its price.

One thing worth settling before you choose: seats in the car are not seats for the whole wedding. A four-seat cabriolet carries the couple and two witnesses, and the rest of the party travels separately — so if the plan is one car for everyone, a five- or seven-seater is the honest starting point, and the two-seaters at €129–€249 are best treated as the arrival and photo car rather than the day's transport. In our experience the couples who book two cars split it exactly that way: a convertible for the ceremony and the drive, a five-seat sedan for guests. Whichever way you go, the seat count, fuel type and gearbox of your chosen model are confirmed with a manager when booking, together with the rental period.

Documents, insurance and the rental agreement

Every wedding booking with Rent-Trip is agreed with a manager, and the paperwork for a self-drive car in Paris follows French practice. Bring a driving licence issued more than 1 year ago — digital licences are not accepted by companies here.

Licence and ID rules for wedding-day drivers

• EU/EEA licence: valid in France with no time limit; no exchange for a French licence is needed while it stays valid.
• Non-EU/EEA licence, visitor: you may drive on your national licence; if it is not in Latin script, you need an official translation or an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside it.
• IDP: not a licence on its own — it is a translation, presented together with your national licence, and it must be no older than 3 years for hire.
• Non-EU/EEA licence, resident: driving is allowed for 1 year from the entry date shown in your visa; on moving here permanently, the licence must be exchanged.
• Minimum age, young-driver surcharge, card and passport: no single national rule exists — the condition is set by each company and is agreed when booking.

Insurance in the rental agreement

French law makes responsabilité civile (third-party cover) compulsory, and it is included in every booking automatically: it covers injury and property damage to third parties within the country's legal limits, but not the driver's own injuries. The base package from French companies also includes CDW (collision damage protection), which limits your liability to an excess and covers repair and vehicle downtime, and TW (theft protection), which covers theft, attempted theft and vandalism in a car park, likewise up to the excess. The excess itself — franchise — is a fixed sum you pay yourself after damage or theft, and it is set by the protection level you choose. Exchanging the franchise (rachat de franchise) is a paid option: Medium reduces it, Premium removes it or cuts it substantially. Base cover does not extend to tyres under abnormal use, glass (unless from a collision), the sunroof or panoramic roof, the underbody, filling the car with the wrong fuel and the engine damage that follows, lost or stolen keys, or damage from negligence and intent.

What the agreement does not settle for you

• Pre-existing card cover: Visa Premier and Gold Mastercard often cover the CDW/TW excess if the booking was paid with that card and the holder is the main driver on the agreement — this comes from an industry review, not an official bank document.
• Fuel policy: full-to-full (plein-plein) — collect with a full tank, return it full.
• Mileage: kilométrage illimité (unlimited mileage) is the opposite of a franchise kilométrique, a capped number of kilometres included in the rate.
• Additional driver: a paid option added at booking; the driver's documents and fee are agreed when booking.
• One-way rental: location aller simple means returning the car in a different city, arranged at booking.
• Check-in and check-out: état des lieux is the inspection of the car at hand-over and return.

Excess amounts, deposit and delivery fees are set out in the rental agreement, never quoted in advance. For a wedding, put every driver who may take the wheel on the agreement before the day — adding one later is a paid option and slows the hand-over.

Renting a vehicle for a wedding in Paris and driving it

Traffic here is slow by design: the boulevard périphérique has run at 50 km/h since 1 October 2024, and inner-city streets are capped at 50 km/h under Code de la route, art. R413-3. A wedding-day route across the centre moves slowly, so build in twenty extra minutes between the mairie and the reception rather than planning a fast dash. Rain changes the limits again — 110 km/h on the motorway, 100 km/h on a divided road, 80 km/h elsewhere — which matters if the photo drive heads out towards Versailles or Giverny.

Parking is where wedding schedules actually break. On-street spaces in zones 1–11 (arrondissements 1 to 11) are priced progressively, not by the hour: 1 hour at €6, 2 hours at €12, 3 at €24, 4 at €39, 5 at €57, 6 at €75, with a hard maximum of six consecutive hours in one spot. The tariff is split into 15-minute blocks, so a 40-minute stop costs less than a full hour. In our experience the ceremony itself usually runs longer than the space allows.

• Boulevard périphérique: 50 km/h since 1 October 2024, introduced in stages from porte des Lilas to porte d'Orléans — allow extra time on any route that uses it.
• Carpool lane: the left lane between Issy and porte de Bercy, both directions, Monday to Friday 7:00–10:30 and 16:00–20:00, is reserved for cars carrying two or more people; a 135 € fine applies.
• Crit'Air sticker: the ZFE de la Métropole du Grand Paris covers everything inside the A86 (the A86 itself excluded), including the boulevard périphérique and the Bois de Boulogne and Bois de Vincennes; Crit'Air 5, 4, 3 and "Non classé" vehicles are barred.
• Parking apps and horodateurs: payment is possible at the meter or through the apps, which is the faster option when you are standing outside a venue in wedding clothes.
• Forfait post-stationnement: an unpaid space is not a traffic fine but a charge of 75 € or 50 € for light vehicles in Paris — settle it rather than leaving it to the couple.

Keep the car off the narrowest streets of Montmartre and Le Marais altogether. Drop the couple at the door, park two or three blocks out, and walk back — the photographs take longer than the drive, and a stationary car in a one-way lane is the one thing that will genuinely delay the day.
