Convertibles car rental in Canada and the nine models you can book
Convertibles with us mean one class, 9 cars and 6 brands — from the Ford Mustang Convertible at C$ 169 a day to the Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet at C$ 1,699. Every car is petrol, every gearbox is automatic, and the split that decides most bookings is simple: 3 two-seaters, 6 four-seaters.
Which convertible models are in the fleet
| Model | Seats | Engine and power | Drive | From per day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ford Mustang Convertible | 4 | 2.3 L, 315 hp | Rear-wheel | C$ 169 |
| Audi A5 Cabriolet | 4 | 2.0 L, 261 hp | All-wheel | C$ 200 |
| Mercedes-Benz C 300 Cabriolet | 4 | 2.0 L, 255 hp | Rear-wheel | C$ 200 |
| Porsche 718 Boxster | 2 | 2.0 L, 300 hp | Rear-wheel | C$ 400 |
| BMW M4 Competition Convertible | 4 | 3.0 L, 503 hp | All-wheel | C$ 599 |
| Chevrolet Corvette Convertible | 2 | 6.2 L, 495 hp | Rear-wheel | C$ 799 |
| Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet | 4 | 3.0 L, 443 hp | All-wheel | C$ 799 |
| Audi R8 V10 Spyder | 2 | 5.2 L, 562 hp | All-wheel | C$ 1,399 |
| Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet | 4 | 3.7 L, 640 hp | All-wheel | C$ 1,699 |
Two-seat or four-seat — what changes on the road
The other six take four people, and that includes the Audi A5 Cabriolet and the Mercedes-Benz C 300 Cabriolet at the same C$ 200 a day — same money, different driven wheels. Decide who is travelling before you decide which car.
All 9 cars run on petrol and come with an automatic gearbox, so the choice comes down to seats, power and driven wheels. On the highway, watch the signs rather than assume a limit: 110 km/h applies only on selected stretches of provincial highway, and the rest carry their own posted numbers. Fill-up is simple — regular petrol sat at about C$ 1.75 a litre in October 2026, and the car goes out full and comes back full.
We deliver to any address in Toronto and to the three airports serving the area, and the delivery address, date and time are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed. Tell us the seat count you need and we will point you at the right end of the nine.
What convertibles car rental in Canada costs per day, week and month
Our convertibles car rental in Canada is priced per model, not per tier: 9 cars run from C$ 169 to C$ 1,699 a day, with a week from C$ 1,014 and a month from C$ 3,549. The rate you see against a model is the daily figure the booking is built from.
| Model | Seats | Engine and power | Drive | From per day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Audi A5 Cabriolet | 4 | 2.0 L, 261 hp | All-wheel | C$ 200 |
| Porsche 718 Boxster | 2 | 2.0 L, 300 hp | Rear-wheel | C$ 400 |
| Chevrolet Corvette Convertible | 2 | 6.2 L, 495 hp | Rear-wheel | C$ 799 |
Weekly and monthly bookings
A week of open-top driving starts at C$ 1,014 and a month at C$ 3,549 — these are calculated as the daily rate times 6 and the daily rate times 21, so the same multipliers apply to every model in the fleet. Take the Ford Mustang Convertible as the working example and the arithmetic is easy to follow; take the Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet and the same multipliers hold, which is why a long booking on a premium car adds up quickly.
What the rate includes and what is agreed at booking
The deposit, the insurance excess, delivery fees and any discounts are set out in the rental agreement, not quoted as a headline figure. We supply the car clean and with a full tank, and it comes back full — full-to-full is the only fuel option we offer, so the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee, if any, follow the agreement rather than a flat charge. Delivery to an address in Toronto and to the three airports we serve is arranged with a manager, who also confirms the date and the time before the booking is fixed.
Licence, insurance and paperwork for convertibles car rental in Canada
Convertibles car rental in Canada comes with a short but strict paperwork list: a valid driving licence, insurance on the car, and the ownership permit inside it. Ontario sets the rules for a visitor's licence, and the minimum age to drive at all is 16. Everything beyond that — the minimum age for our cars, the young-driver surcharge, which cards we accept and how far you may drive — is agreed when booking, not fixed here.
Driving on a foreign licence in Ontario
A visitor to Ontario for less than 3 months can drive on a valid licence from their own province, state or country. Anyone visiting from another country for more than 3 months needs an International Driver's Permit (IDP) from their own country, and an IDP cannot be issued in Canada — arrange it at home before you fly. The same rule covers a longer stay: past 3 months, the licence you arrived with is no longer enough on its own. Plan the document before you pick the car, because a Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet held for a month is worthless if you cannot legally drive it off the delivery address.
Insurance and the ownership permit in the car
Ontario requires every driver to have insurance on the car and to carry the original or an exact copy of the registration document, the ownership permit. We hand the car over clean and with a full tank, and the permit travels with it. Fuel works full-to-full: the car is supplied with a full tank and must come back with a full tank, otherwise the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as the agreement states.
What to keep in mind on the road
- Alcohol: criminal liability starts at 0.08 (80 mg per 100 ml of blood); the 0.05–0.079 warn range brings an immediate 7-day licence suspension, an 8-hour course and a C$250 fine for a first offence.
- Young or novice drivers: drivers 21 and under, and holders of G1 or G2 licences, must stay at zero alcohol.
- Speed: 110 km/h now applies on selected stretches of provincial highway instead of the former 100 km/h — read the signs rather than assume.
- Winter tyres: not compulsory in Ontario; in Quebec they are required from 1 December to 15 March for Quebec-registered cars, rental cars included, with a C$200–300 fine, and cars on plates from other provinces are not covered by that rule.
- Crossing to the United States: most cars rented in Canada may be taken across, but only with permission from the rental point, and without written permission the trip breaks the agreement and the insurance.
Paperwork left in an open car is the easiest thing to lose on a summer trip.
Delivery of your convertibles car rental in Canada
Rent-Trip delivers to any address in the city where you collect the car and to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) and John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM).
Where we deliver
- Any address locally: home, hotel or office — the exact street address is confirmed with a manager when you book.
- Billy Bishop (YTZ): the downtown city airport, 6 km by road from the core and 1,700,000 passengers in 2025.
- Hamilton (YHM): John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport, 86.7 km by road, for arrivals on the western side.
- Union Station, Downtown, Mississauga, North York, Scarborough, Vaughan: all inside the delivery area and each with its own page.
- Outside these places: arranged case by case and not promised on the site — ask before you book.
What happens between booking and hand-over
The booking is not fixed until a manager has agreed the delivery address, the date and the time with you. The same applies to the minimum rental age, the young-driver surcharge, the cards accepted and the territory limit: agreed when booking, not printed on this page.
One detail worth settling early: a convertible taken across the border needs written permission from the rental point, and most cars rented here can be driven into the United States with it. Without that permission the trip breaches the agreement and the insurance, so raise it in the same call as the delivery address.
Fuel, condition and the return
If the tank is not full on return, the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the rental agreement; no pre-paid tank or full-to-empty option is offered.
For a car with the roof down, check the boot before you commit to a long run.
Planning trips out of the city with convertibles car rental in Canada
Fuel, tolls and the border
Highway 407 ETR is the fully tolled route and has no booths: light-vehicle rates in 2026 run from 49.93¢ to 119.21¢ a kilometre depending on zone and time of entry, plus a C$1 trip toll charge, and a car without a transponder is billed C$5.30 per trip and C$5 a month as an account fee.
Crossing into the United States
Driving out without written permission breaks both the agreement and the insurance, and a passport is required at the border.
Winter tyres and the season
Ontario does not require winter tyres, so which tyres the car carries is worth confirming when booking. Quebec is different: winter tyres are mandatory there from 1 December to 15 March for vehicles registered in Quebec, including rental cars, with a fine of C$200–300 — cars plated in other provinces fall outside that rule.
Rental agreement checks for convertibles car rental in Canada
The rental agreement is where the money questions live, and with a convertible it is worth reading before you commit to a model rather than at hand-over. The deposit, the insurance excess, delivery fees and any discounts are set out in that document, not quoted as a headline figure on this page.
The excess matters more than the daily rate
- Discounts: applied through the agreement, never as a headline reduction on the page.
- Territory limit: how far you may drive, agreed when booking; for a border crossing it also needs written permission from the rental point.
Full-to-full fuel, in writing
Every car leaves clean and with a full tank and must come back with a full tank. No pre-paid tank and no full-to-empty option is offered, so the rule is the same whether you hire the Ford Mustang Convertible for a weekend or the Audi R8 V10 Spyder for a fortnight.
Questions to settle in the same call
Tolls and penalties: who pays road charges, tolls and penalty notices is agreed when booking — it is not settled by assumption.
Longer stays and convertibles car rental in Canada options
A month behind the wheel of an open-top car changes the arithmetic for convertibles car rental in Canada: the monthly rate is the daily rate times 21, so the longer you book, the less each day costs against the daily figure. Nine cars are available on this page, from C$ 169 a day for the Ford Mustang Convertible to C$ 1,699 a day for the Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet, and a month starts at C$ 3,549.
Living with a convertible day to day
All 9 cars run on petrol with an automatic gearbox, which keeps city driving easy and long highway stretches relaxed.
When the season turns
A trip into Quebec between 1 December and 15 March is the exception: winter tyres are mandatory there for Quebec-registered vehicles, rental cars included, with a fine, though cars plated in other provinces are not covered by that rule.
