What the Porsche 718 Boxster costs and why it sits at the top
The Porsche 718 Boxster costs ฿18,333 per day, ฿109,998 a week and ฿384,993 a month. It is a two-seat, rear-wheel-drive car with automatic transmission, and it sits above the Audi TT Roadster and the Ford Mustang Convertible, which both come in at ฿15,000 per day. The gap between the Boxster and the MG Cyberster at the bottom of the range is ฿8,333 per day. At that level the daily rate is the smallest part of the decision — book it for the days you actually want the badge, not for a fortnight of errands. If your trip is a mix of long days and quiet ones, the weekly rate is where the arithmetic starts to make sense, and the exact terms for your dates are set out in the rental agreement.
Fuel and what the price already includes
VAT 7% is already included in the rates above. Fill the tank before you hand the car back, because the car leaves us with a full tank. Weekly bookings are charged as daily × 6 and monthly bookings as daily × 21, which is why the longer you book the lower the effective day rate works out.
Documents, licence and deposit for a convertible rental in Pattaya
A convertible is still a car, so the paperwork is exactly the same as for any other model we hire out. The security hold amount is set out in the rental agreement.
What you need to bring
- Home driving licence: a valid licence from your own country.
- International Driving Permit: the 1949 Geneva Convention permit, recognised in Thailand alongside your national licence. Citizens of ASEAN countries may drive on their national licence without one.
- Bank card in the main driver's name: used for the security hold; the amount is set out in the rental agreement.
- Minimum age 21: conditions for drivers under 25 and for premium classes are set out in the agreement.
The fine for driving without a valid permit is ฿500–1,000, and an insurer may refuse a claim — so carry both documents even on a short run to Jomtien.
Deposit, insurance and what the agreement covers
Every registered car in Thailand carries compulsory motor insurance (Por Ror Bor), which covers injury to third parties. First-class (Class 1) insurance covers damage to the car itself; its terms and the excess are set out in the rental agreement. The security hold is taken on a bank card in the main driver's name, and again the amount sits in the agreement rather than on this page. Since 30 December 2025 a car rental agreement is a contract controlled by the OCPB: it is written in Thai, and all fees and penalties are disclosed in it. Read the document before you accept the keys — that is where the excess figure for your specific convertible actually appears.
Rules that apply once you are behind the wheel
Traffic in Thailand keeps to the left and every car is right-hand drive. Speed limits are 80 km/h in built-up areas — Pattaya City is named as one in law — 90 km/h outside them and 120 km/h on Motorway 7, though a sign can lower the limit; the fine is up to ฿1,000, usually ฿500 by receipt. On Motorway 7 the 120 km/h limit is enforced primarily by speed cameras, and a camera fine is issued to the car owner — the company — then re-invoiced to the driver.
Alcohol, and why the margin is tighter than you expect
The limit is 20 mg/dl for drivers under 20, holders of temporary licences, drivers without a licence or with a licence of the wrong category — a ministerial regulation published in the Royal Gazette on 20 September 2024. Refusing a breath test is treated as an admission. For a convertible evening on Walking Street, the practical answer is simple: leave the car at the hotel and take a baht bus.
Driving a convertible in Pattaya — left-hand traffic, heat and rain
Thailand drives on the left and every car we hire is right-hand drive, so the first mile with the roof down is about re-learning where the kerb sits, not about the car itself.
Left-hand traffic: what changes behind the wheel
The steering wheel is on the right, the gear selector falls under your left hand, and the kerb runs along your left — for a driver used to right-hand traffic that is the whole adjustment in one sentence. Beach Road and Second Road run one-way anticlockwise as a pair, so a wrong turn near the seafront puts you on a loop rather than a head-on. Speed limits are 80 km/h in built-up areas — Pattaya City is named as a built-up area in the 1969 law — 90 km/h outside them and 120 km/h on Motorway 7, and a sign can lower any of those. The fine for speeding runs up to ฿1,000, usually ฿500 on the receipt. Cameras on Motorway 7 enforce the 120 km/h limit, and a camera fine is issued to the car owner, which is the hire company, then re-invoiced to the driver.
Petrol models — the BMW 430i Convertible, Audi TT Roadster, Ford Mustang Convertible and Porsche 718 Boxster — all run automatic.
Rain, roof timing and the one habit worth keeping
- Roof before the first drops: close the convertible top when the sky darkens over Pratamnak Hill or Jomtien.
- Songkran and Wan Lai: the Pattaya water festival runs longer than the national 13–15 April dates, and soaked roads plus a soft top are a combination to plan around.
- Rental agreement: it sets out what the car may and may not be used for, and driving off-road or onto a beach is not among the permitted uses.
Book the roof-down hours for early morning or after 16:00 — the midday sun over an open cabin is the one thing on this page no specification can fix.
Convertible rental in Pattaya with delivery to your hotel or airport
A convertible rental with us starts with one practical difference: the car is brought to the address you give us — a hotel on Second Road, a condo in Jomtien, a villa off Sukhumvit — and the delivery address, the date and the time are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed. A delivery fee, if any, is agreed at the same moment, so nothing about the hand-over is a surprise on the day.
Where we deliver, and to which airports
- Any address in the city: hotel, condo, guesthouse or private villa — you name it when booking and a manager confirms the address, date and time.
- U-Tapao Airport (UTP): the closest gateway, roughly 50 km from Walking Street and about a 45-minute drive, so the car can be waiting when you land.
- Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK): the main international gate, about 120 km by road from the city, with Motorway 7 running past the terminals.
- Don Mueang Airport (DMK): the low-cost hub, around 151 km by road — the longest of the three runs, and the one where a pre-agreed meeting point matters most.
- Elsewhere in the country: arranged case by case; we do not promise it on the site.
What the hand-over looks like in practice
The car arrives clean and with a full tank, and it is available from one day. You need your passport, your home driving licence and an International Driving Permit — unless you hold a national licence from an ASEAN country, which is accepted without one. Driving away from the airport or your hotel
Traffic here keeps to the left and every car is right-hand drive, which is worth a minute of adjustment before you pull out — especially on the first left turn. From U-Tapao the run in is short. From Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang you take Motorway 7, where the limit is 120 km/h and the trip is tolled; the whole Bangkok run costs ฿105–130, and cash is the simpler choice in a rental car. Speed on M7 is enforced primarily by cameras, and a camera fine is issued to the car owner — that is, to us — and then re-invoiced to you. If you would rather avoid the tolls altogether, Hwy 34 to Hwy 3 Sukhumvit runs through Bang Saen and Bang Phra without a charge.
How to book a convertible rental in Pattaya
Booking is agreed with a manager, not through an instant checkout: you send the dates, the model and the delivery address, and the booking is fixed once we confirm the car and the address with you.
What to send us
- Dates and times: the pickup date and time, and the return date and time — a convertible hire runs from 1 day, so a single day is a valid booking.
- Model: one of the five — MG Cyberster, BMW 430i Convertible, Audi TT Roadster, Ford Mustang Convertible or Porsche 718 Boxster.
- Delivery address: any address in the city, or U-Tapao (UTP), Suvarnabhumi (BKK) or Don Mueang (DMK) — a delivery fee, if any, is agreed when booking.

We check the model against your dates and answer with the delivery address, the date and the time. If the car you asked for is out on those days, we name the ones that are free instead of holding the booking open. Two things are worth sorting before you write to us. First, the licence: Thailand recognises the 1949 Geneva Convention permit alongside your national one, and driving without the pair carries a ฿500–1,000 fine, with an insurer free to refuse a claim. Second, the return: a convertible is a car you will want on the days you actually drive it, so tell us the return time honestly rather than booking a week you will not use. A 2-seat MG Cyberster, Audi TT Roadster or Porsche 718 Boxster has no rear bench, so if four of you are travelling, the booking has to be a 4-seat BMW 430i or Mustang.

Thai law attaches compulsory motor insurance, Por Ror Bor, to every registered car, and it covers injury to third parties rather than the car itself. Damage to the vehicle falls under first-class (Class 1) cover, and the terms of that cover, together with the excess, are set out in the rental agreement. We do not quote an excess figure here because it is written into the agreement for your dates, not into a web page.
