The class decides more than the price. An automatic gearbox appears only from the Crossover class upwards, and all-wheel drive comes with one model alone.

The car comes clean with a full tank, and it goes back with a full tank — full-to-full, or lleno-lleno as the Spanish paperwork puts it. If the tank is short on return, the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the rental agreement. That is the only fuel arrangement we offer: no pre-paid tank, no full-to-empty option.

Of the five manual cars, the 1.0 L Polo is the only petrol one below €40; the T-Roc and the Golf pair a 1.5 L petrol engine with a manual, and the Caddy and Crafter manuals both run the 2.0 L diesel. Automatic and diesel travel together on the Tiguan, Passat, Touran and California Beach.

Spanish rules require a child restraint system for every passenger shorter than 135 cm, and from 135 cm a standard belt is allowed. The driver carries the fine, not the parent in the back — 200 EUR and 4 points.

The Touran costs €4 a day less and runs on diesel; the Multivan is a petrol automatic. For a week, the Touran comes to €432 and the Multivan to €456 — the gap stays under €25 either way. The delivery address and time are agreed with a manager beforehand.

Campers and long road trips

The California Beach is the only camper on the page — four seats and a diesel automatic. For coastal runs south, the AP-7 between Salou and Alicante has been toll-free since 01.01.2020, which removed 373.8 km of péage from the Dénia, Calp, Benidorm and Peñíscola routes. Fuel is the other running cost: Gasolina 95 E5 averaged €1.978 per litre across 62 filling stations in the municipality of València, while Gasóleo A averaged €1.923 per litre.

If your load is light, the Caddy costs the same per day as the Crafter.

Fuel: what a litre costs and how the tank works

Every car we hand over comes with a full tank and must go back full — lleno-lleno. The practical point: diesel models such as the Tiguan, Passat, Touran, Caddy, Crafter and California Beach take Gasóleo A, the cheaper of the two fuels per litre.

Parking in the blue and orange zones

• Zona azul centro y ensanches: Ciutat Vella, L'Eixample and Extramurs — €1.00 for 60 minutes, €1.70 for 120, maximum two hours.
• Zona azul resto ciudad: the same two-hour cap for €0.80 per hour, €1.50 for two.
• Zona naranja: mixed resident and rotation parking at €2.10 per hour, €3.30 for two — non-residents may only use it during rotation hours.

The ZBE and what it means for a hire car

ZBE València (Zona de Bajas Emisiones) covers 27.8 km², bounded by Ronda Nord, the avenidas de Tarongers and Serradora, and Bulevard Sud, and runs around the clock, 365 days a year. In the first stage, from 01.12.2025 to 31.12.2026, only category A cars — petrol registered before 2001 and diesel before 2006 — registered outside the province of Valencia are restricted; from 01.01.2027 that widens to cars registered outside the city, and from 01.01.2028 to all category A vehicles including residents'. Cars carrying Spanish plates and a DGT sticker (B, C, ECO or 0) fall outside the restriction, since only category A is targeted.

Speed limits are the other constant: 120 km/h on the autopista, 90 km/h on conventional roads, 50 km/h on urban streets with two or more lanes each way and 30 km/h on single-lane streets. Fixed speed cameras sit on the V-21 and V-30, so watch the signs rather than the traffic.

Gearbox, fuel and seats — confirm before you commit

Seven of the twelve cars on this page come with an automatic gearbox and five with a manual, and the split does not follow price. The Volkswagen Polo at €20/day is manual; the Volkswagen T-Cross at €36/day is automatic.

Seats matter the same way. Five-seat cars cover most of the fleet, but seven seats exist only on the Volkswagen Touran and the Volkswagen Multivan, and the California Beach camper seats four. All-wheel drive comes only with the Volkswagen Tiguan.

• Fuel policy: the car is supplied with a full tank and must be returned full — lleno-lleno; anything else is charged as set out in the rental agreement.
• Fuel type: six models run on petrol and six on diesel, so check which pump you need before the first fill.
• Deposit and excess: the amount is set out in the rental agreement, not fixed on this page.
• Delivery: we bring the car to any address in the city and to Valencia Airport (VLC); the address, date and time are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed.

Documents and timing

Licences issued outside the EU/EEA are valid in Spain while they are in force, and the DGT advises getting an international driving permit before you travel; a licence that is not in Spanish is accepted with an official translation or if it follows the Geneva or Vienna convention model. Minimum rental age, the young-driver surcharge and which cards are accepted are agreed when booking.
