Self-drive hybrids explained

Traffic here keeps to the left and every car is right-hand drive, so give yourself the first twenty minutes on a quiet soi before joining Sukhumvit or Sathorn. A foreign visitor needs a home driving licence plus an International Driving Permit under the 1949 Geneva Convention; the police fine for driving without one is ฿500–1,000, and an insurer may refuse a claim.

Crossovers and Comfort hybrids for everyday driving

Crossovers start at ฿1,900 and Comfort at ฿2,050 per day, which makes these two classes the practical choice for most trips. The Haval pair is the exception on output: the H6 puts out 243 hp and the Jolion 190 hp from 1.5 L, both still front-wheel. If your plan is mostly in-town running with one or two airport runs, a Crossover covers it without the Premium outlay.

Premium and Luxury hybrids for business and special trips

Premium starts at ฿4,000 and the Luxury Porsche Cayenne is ฿24,900 per day.

Daily rates for hybrid car rental

Weekly and monthly hybrid car rental

Weekly bookings start at ฿11,400 and monthly bookings start at ฿39,900. The weekly rate is the daily rate multiplied by six, and the monthly rate is the daily rate multiplied by twenty-one — so the longer you keep the car, the lower the cost of each day. A Comfort sedan at ฿2,050 daily comes to ฿12,300 for a week and ฿43,050 for a month; the same arithmetic applies to every class above it. VAT 7% is already included in the prices shown, and rental is available from one day.

What moves the price up or down

• Class and model: the Nissan Kicks e-Power at ฿1,900 and the Porsche Cayenne at ฿24,900 sit at opposite ends of the same hybrid fleet.
• Drive layout and power: front-wheel Crossovers and Comfort cars run 98–243 hp, while rear-wheel Premium and all-wheel Luxury models run 211–470 hp.
• Booking length: weekly and monthly rates are lower per day than the daily rate, calculated as daily x 6 and daily x 21.
• Extras agreed at booking: a delivery fee, if any, and the security hold are set out in the rental agreement, never in the class table above.

Booking Hybrid Car Rental in Bangkok with a Manager

Every booking is agreed with a manager before it is fixed. The delivery address, the date, the time and any delivery fee are agreed when booking, and only then does the reservation lock in.

How to book hybrid car rental in Bangkok

• Choose the class and model: Crossovers from ฿1,900, Comfort from ฿2,050, Premium from ฿4,000 or the Luxury Porsche Cayenne at ฿24,900 per day — 11 hybrids in total.
• Send the request: name the model, the rental dates and the address where you want the car.
• Confirm the driver: minimum age is 21; conditions for drivers under 25 and for premium classes are set out in the rental agreement.
• Fix the booking: once the manager confirms, the reservation is fixed and the car is reserved to your dates.

Security hold and the rental agreement

A bank card in the main driver's name is used for the security hold, and the amount is set out in the rental agreement — we do not quote it here. Since 30 December 2025 a car rental agreement in Thailand is a contract controlled by the OCPB: it is written in Thai, and all fees and penalties are disclosed in it. The terms and the excess of the Class 1 insurance that covers damage to the car are set out in the same document.

Documents to have ready

• Home driving licence: held for the class of car you book.
• International Driving Permit: required for visitors from outside ASEAN — Thailand recognises the 1949 Geneva Convention permit under section 42 bis of the Motor Vehicle Act; citizens of ASEAN countries may drive on their national licence.
• Bank card: in the main driver's name, for the security hold.

Driving without a valid permit carries a police fine of ฿500–1,000, and an insurer may refuse a claim — so the paperwork is worth sorting before the delivery slot, not at the kerb. Traffic-camera fines are issued to the car owner and re-invoiced to the renter, which is another reason the agreement names the driver precisely.

Driving a Hybrid Rental Car in Bangkok

Traffic keeps to the left and every car in our fleet is right-hand drive. That single fact changes how you drive more than anything else on this page: you sit on the right side of the cabin, you overtake on the right, and you turn across the oncoming lane at junctions in a mirror image of what you are used to. Take the first ten minutes slowly, ideally on a quiet soi before you join Sukhumvit or Sathorn, and the geometry stops feeling wrong surprisingly fast.

• Speed limits: 80 km/h in built-up areas, 90 km/h outside them, 120 km/h on the motorways (M7, M9), 110 km/h on the expressways and 100 km/h on elevated sections.
• Tollways: the EXAT urban expressways and Motorway 7 are part of the route; how the tag is handled is set out in the rental agreement.
• M-Flow: on Motorway 9 the barrier-free system reads the plate and bills later; the account is tied to the car, so ask at hand-over how it is arranged.
• Parking: malls are the easy option — CentralWorld gives 2 hours free then ฿20/hour, ICONSIAM 2 hours free then ฿30 for the third hour.
• Low Emission Zone: the zone covers vehicles with 6 or more wheels on high PM2.5 days, so a five-seat hybrid is not affected.
• Alcohol: 20 mg/dl applies to drivers under 20, holders of temporary licences and drivers without a valid licence for the category.

What you need to bring

• Home driving licence: a valid licence from your own country, held for the class of car you are booking.
• International Driving Permit: the 1949 Geneva Convention permit, required alongside your national licence under section 42 bis of the Motor Vehicle Act.
• Age: the minimum driver age is 21, and conditions for drivers under 25 and for premium classes are set out in the agreement.

Citizens of ASEAN countries may drive on their national licence without an International Driving Permit. Everyone else needs both documents together — a national licence on its own is not enough, and neither is a permit with nothing behind it.

Right-hand drive, left-hand traffic

Traffic in Thailand keeps to the LEFT and every car is right-hand drive, which is the first thing to remember when you pull out of a delivery spot. Our hybrid fleet is automatic throughout, so your left foot has nothing to do and your attention can stay on lane position and mirrors.

Insurance and Hand-Over on Hybrid Car Rental in Bangkok

Compulsory motor insurance, Por Ror Bor, is attached to every registered car we hand over, and first-class (Class 1) cover handles damage to the hybrid itself.

What the two layers of cover do

• Por Ror Bor: the compulsory policy every registered Thai car carries; it covers injury to third parties, not the car.
• Security hold: a bank card in the main driver's name is used for it; the amount is set out in the agreement, not fixed on this page.
• Traffic-camera fines: issued to the car owner and re-invoiced to the renter — on Motorway 7 the 120 km/h limit applies, so the notice reaches us first and then you.
• OCPB contract: since 30 December 2025 a car rental agreement is a contract controlled by the OCPB, written in Thai, with all fees and penalties disclosed inside it.

The hand-over itself

Because every car here is right-hand drive and traffic keeps to the left, take the first few minutes of the hand-over to sit in the driver's seat, adjust the mirrors and find the gear selector before you pull out — the expressways do not forgive a hesitant first kilometre.
