Comfort car rental in Canada
A week of highway driving between Toronto and Niagara Falls starts with the right car: Rent-Trip offers comfort car rental in Canada with 10 vehicles in the Comfort class, from C$ 68 to C$ 84 a day. We deliver the car to any address in Toronto and to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) and John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM), with the address, date and time agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed.
What Comfort car rental in Canada gives you
Rent-Trip keeps ten cars in this band, from C$ 68 to C$ 84 a day, and every one of them is delivered to your address with a full tank.
In our fleet the ten Comfort cars run from 1.5 L to 2.5 L and from 147 hp to 194 hp, so the class is not one engine either. Choose by how many people and how many cases you are moving, not by the name on the category.
What every car in this class shares
- Five seats: all ten models are five-seaters, from the Volkswagen Jetta to the Hyundai Elantra.
- Automatic gearbox: every Comfort car we supply has an automatic transmission — no manual driving experience needed.
- Front-wheel drive: all ten are front-wheel drive, which is the layout that keeps traction on slush and packed snow.
- Petrol or hybrid: nine cars run on petrol and one is a hybrid, so the choice of fuel is narrow but real.
- One size band: engines span 1.5–2.5 L and power 147–194 hp, so the class covers both economical and brisk options.
Ten models available with Comfort car rental in Canada
Ten models, seven brands, one class band — that is what the Comfort fleet on this page looks like. Every one of them is a five-seat automatic with front-wheel drive, so the choice comes down to engine size, body style and the daily rate you want to work with.
Model-by-model specs and daily rates
| Model | Body | Engine | Power | Fuel | Per day |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Volkswagen Jetta | Sedan | 1.5 L | 158 hp | Petrol | C$ 68 |
| Nissan Sentra | Sedan | 2.0 L | 149 hp | Petrol | C$ 70 |
| Kia Forte | Sedan | 2.0 L | 147 hp | Petrol | C$ 71 |
| Toyota Corolla | Sedan | 2.0 L | 169 hp | Petrol | C$ 71 |
| Volkswagen Golf | Hatchback | 1.5 L | 158 hp | Petrol | C$ 71 |
| Honda Civic | Sedan | 2.0 L | 158 hp | Petrol | C$ 72 |
| Kia K4 | Sedan | 2.0 L | 147 hp | Petrol | C$ 74 |
| Mazda Mazda3 | Sedan | 2.5 L | 191 hp | Petrol | C$ 76 |
| Toyota Prius | Liftback | 2.0 L | 194 hp | Hybrid | C$ 79 |
| Hyundai Elantra | Sedan | 2.0 L | 147 hp | Petrol | C$ 84 |
The spread from C$ 68 to C$ 84 buys engine size and body style, not seats or space — all ten cars take five people. If you plan long highway days with a full boot, the extra displacement of the Mazda3 is the difference you actually feel on an on-ramp.
The only hybrid and the only hatchback
The Toyota Prius is the single hybrid in the band at C$ 79 a day, and the Volkswagen Golf the single hatchback at C$ 71. Petrol covers the other nine cars, so anyone set on a hybrid has exactly one option here rather than a choice.
Rent-Trip supplies every car with a full tank, and full-to-full is the only fuel arrangement we offer — the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are set out in the rental agreement.
Comfort car rental in Canada for families and road trips
Every car in the class seats five, so the choice comes down to luggage and body style rather than passenger count.
Long trips and winter driving in Ontario
Winter tyres are not mandatory in Ontario, but Quebec requires them from 1 December to 15 March for Quebec-registered cars, with a fine for non-compliance. Cars on other provinces' plates sit outside that rule, so a Comfort car delivered on an Ontario plate is not obliged to carry them when you cross into Quebec. Rent-Trip hands over every car clean and with a full tank, and the tank must come back full — otherwise the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the rental agreement.
Booking Comfort car rental in Canada with a manager
We agree the delivery address, the date and the time with a manager first, and only then is the booking fixed. That order matters: the arrangement is settled before anything is reserved, so the dates you name are the dates we work to.
Delivery to your address and the airports we serve
We deliver the car to any address in Toronto and to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) and John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM). The delivery address, the date and the time are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed, and delivery outside these places is arranged case by case rather than promised on the site. Our own fleet of 10 Comfort cars is handed over clean and with a full tank, so the first stop after pickup is your route, not a filling station.
What the rental agreement fixes
- Insurance excess: the figure you carry in case of damage is written into the agreement, so read that line before you settle on a model.
- Minimum rental age and young-driver surcharge: both are agreed when booking, so ask about them in the same message as your dates.
- Cards accepted: confirmed when booking, before the car is reserved for you.
The rental agreement is where the money side lives — deposit, excess, delivery fees and any discount. Our advice from practice: read the excess line before you choose between the 10 models, not after.
Fuel, borders and the questions to ask first
Two conditions are worth settling in the same conversation. The car is supplied with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank — full-to-full, with no other fuel option offered on the site; if the tank comes back short, the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the rental agreement. And most cars taken in Canada can be driven across the border, but only with the permission of the specific rental branch, since some classes are restricted and driving out without written permission breaks both the agreement and the insurance — a passport is needed at the border. Ask about both when you book, and the drive itself stays simple.
Documents and insurance for Comfort car rental in Canada
Every driver needs two things in the car: proof of insurance and the ownership permit.
Licence rules for visitors to Ontario
If you are visiting Ontario for less than 3 months, you can use a valid driver's licence from your own province, state or country. If you will be visiting from another country for more than 3 months, you will need an International Driver's Permit (IDP) from your own country, because the country does not issue them. The legal minimum age to drive is 16, while our minimum age is agreed when booking — the two are separate numbers, and the second one is not a law.
Insurance and the ownership permit
A driver must carry insurance for the car and keep the original or an exact copy of the ownership permit inside it. That is an Ontario rule, not a company preference, and it applies to every Comfort model in the fleet — Volkswagen Jetta, Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic and the rest of the ten.
What the rental agreement fixes
- Deposit: the amount is set out in the rental agreement, not quoted on this page.
- Insurance excess: the figure and how it applies to a claim are set out in the rental agreement.
- Delivery fees: whether a fee applies to your address is set out in the rental agreement.
Comfort car rental in Canada: documents worth checking before you book
The border itself asks for a passport.
Fuel, tolls and borders on Comfort car rental in Canada
Full-to-full fuel and what it costs
Every car in our Comfort fleet leaves clean with a full tank and comes back full — the full-to-full rule, and the only fuel option we offer. There is no pre-paid tank and no full-to-empty arrangement. If the vehicle returns with less fuel, the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the rental agreement. Nine of the ten models burn petrol; the Toyota Prius is the single hybrid at C$ 79 a day.
- Highway 407 ETR: the tolled, cash-free highway, charged per kilometre by zone and time of entry.
- Light-vehicle rate: charged per kilometre by zone and time of entry, plus a trip toll charge on each journey.
- Who pays: tolls, road charges and any penalty notice are agreed when booking — check that line before you take the 407 rather than after.
Crossing into the United States
Most cars hired here may be driven into the United States, but only with the permission of the company — restrictions apply to some classes, and without written permission the trip breaches both the agreement and the insurance. Carry your passport at the border.
Why travellers choose Comfort car rental in Canada from Rent-Trip
Ten cars, seven brands, one price band from C$ 68 to C$ 84 a day — the choice is about body style and engine, not about whether the vehicle will be big enough.
What the class gives you before you even pick a model
- Five seats in every car: all ten models carry five people, so a group of four never has to argue about who sits in the middle.
- Automatic and front-wheel drive throughout: ten automatics, ten front-wheel-drive cars, which is the layout that behaves predictably on slush and ice.
- A real boot: eight sedans, one hatchback and one liftback — the Golf and the Prius take awkward shapes a sedan refuses.
- A predictable engine range: 1.5 to 2.5 litres and 147 to 194 hp, so nothing in the class feels underpowered on a 400-series highway and nothing drinks fuel in city traffic.
How the money works
Daily rates run from C$ 68 for the Volkswagen Jetta to C$ 84 for the Hyundai Elantra. Longer bookings follow the same arithmetic across the whole class: a week is the daily rate times six, and a month is the daily rate times twenty-one.
What happens between booking and driving away
We deliver the car to any address in Toronto and to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) and John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM). It comes clean and with a full tank, and it goes back full; anything else is settled as set out in the rental agreement. Deposit, insurance excess and delivery fees live in that same document, so read the excess line before you choose a model rather than after.
