Driving in Valencia: parking, the low emission zone and roads

The low emission zone (ZBE)

Valencia's Zona de Bajas Emisiones covers 27.8 km² inside Ronda Nord, Avenida de Tarongers, Avenida de Serradora and Bulevard Sud, and tightens in stages. Until the end of 2026 it restricts only vehicles without a DGT environmental sticker (category A: petrol cars registered before 2001 and diesels before 2006) that are registered outside the province of Valencia; from 2027 and 2028 the circle widens. Rental cars with Spanish plates carry a DGT sticker (B, C, ECO or 0), so, reading the rules, the restriction does not apply to them. The fine is up to €200, halved if paid within 20 days.

Parking in the city (ORA)

• Blue zone in the centre (Ciutat Vella, L'Eixample, Extramurs): up to 2 hours, €1.00 for 60 minutes and €1.70 for 120 minutes.
• Blue zone elsewhere in the city: €0.80 for 60 minutes and €1.50 for 120 minutes.
• Orange zones are shared with residents: visitors may park only during rotation hours, for example Monday to Friday 9:00–20:00 in Ciutat Vella and 9:00–19:00 in Ruzafa, and 9:00–15:00 on Saturdays; an hour costs €2.10.
• Green zones are for residents with a permit only.

Roads and speed cameras

The AP-7 between Salou and Alicante has been toll-free since 1 January 2020, so the drives from Valencia to Dénia, Benidorm or Peñíscola cost nothing in tolls. Fixed speed cameras watch the city approaches: 80 km/h on the V-21 and the V-30, 120 km/h on the A-7 at Paterna and 90 km/h on the CV-35 towards Llíria.

Fuel

On 24 September 2026 the average price in the city of Valencia, across 62 stations in the official MITECO data, was €1.978 a litre for 95 petrol; diesel averaged €1.923 across 63 stations. Stations outside the city were a little cheaper on average.
