We deliver the car to any address in Toronto, including Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) and John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM).
How long-term car rental in Toronto is priced
Long-term car rental in Toronto runs on 24 cars priced from C$ 38 to C$ 70 a day, with weekly terms from C$ 228 and monthly terms from C$ 798.
What a day of long-term hire costs
The cheapest car on the page is the Mitsubishi Mirage at C$ 38, a 1.2 L hatchback with 78 hp and five seats, and the most expensive is the Nissan Sentra at C$ 70, a 2.0 L Comfort sedan with 149 hp. Between those two ends sit seven classes: Economy from C$ 38, Crossover from C$ 49, SUV from C$ 58, Premium from C$ 59, Sedan from C$ 62, Minivans from C$ 68 and Comfort from C$ 68. Compare the two ends of the range before you commit to a class, because a long stay multiplies whichever rate you choose by six or by 21.
Weekly and monthly rates by class
| Class | Cars | From per day | Weekly from | Monthly from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Economy | 4 | C$ 38 | C$ 228 | C$ 798 |
| Crossover | 7 | C$ 49 | C$ 294 | C$ 1,029 |
| SUV | 5 | C$ 58 | C$ 348 | C$ 1,218 |
| Premium | 4 | C$ 59 | C$ 354 | C$ 1,239 |
| Sedan | 1 | C$ 62 | C$ 372 | C$ 1,302 |
| Minivans | 1 | C$ 68 | C$ 408 | C$ 1,428 |
| Comfort | 2 | C$ 68 | C$ 408 | C$ 1,428 |
A class's "from" price is the entry point of that class, not the top of the page, so compare classes at their own starting rate rather than against the C$ 70 ceiling. Weekly terms start at C$ 228 and monthly terms at C$ 798, calculated as the daily rate times six and times 21.
Is a monthly term cheaper than paying day by day
A monthly term is charged as the daily rate times 21, so a long stay is priced on 21 days rather than on every calendar day. Take the Crossover class: seven cars from C$ 49 a day, which puts the weekly figure at C$ 294 and the monthly at C$ 1,029. The same arithmetic holds at the bottom of the range, where the Economy class starts at C$ 38 a day, C$ 228 a week and C$ 798 a month. A jump from Economy to SUV adds C$ 20 a day, which is C$ 420 across a monthly term, while the multiplier itself never moves.
What you can rent for a long stay
Our long-term hire runs on 24 cars across seven classes, with seats from 4 to 8 and daily rates from C$ 38 to C$ 70. Every car is automatic, so the choice comes down to size, class and how far you plan to drive.
Classes and how many cars each holds
- SUV — 5 cars from C$ 58: Volkswagen Tiguan, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Honda Pilot and Hyundai Palisade, all with all-wheel drive.
- Comfort — 2 cars from C$ 68: Volkswagen Jetta and Nissan Sentra, sedans for steady highway weeks.
Comfort, Sedan and Minivans hold one or two cars each, so book those classes earlier in the season — a single car cannot be in two places at once.
Seats, fuel and gearbox across the fleet
All 24 cars are automatic, 23 run on petrol and one is a hybrid, with 19 five-seaters, three eight-seaters, one seven-seater and one four-seater. The four-seater is the Chevrolet Spark, the seven-seater is the Acura MDX, and the three eight-seaters are the Honda Odyssey, Honda Pilot and Hyundai Palisade. Body styles split as 8 crossovers, 8 SUVs, 4 hatchbacks, 3 sedans and 1 MPV, spread across 12 brands. The single hybrid is the Toyota Camry, so a long stay with high mileage has exactly one low-fuel option on this page — worth fixing early if fuel economy is your main criterion.
Models worth picking for a month
| Class | Model | Seats | Drive | From per day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Economy | Mitsubishi Mirage | 5 | Front-wheel | C$ 38 |
| Crossover | Buick Encore | 5 | Front-wheel | C$ 49 |
| SUV | Volkswagen Tiguan | 5 | All-wheel | C$ 58 |
| Premium | Mercedes-Benz GLA | 5 | All-wheel | C$ 61 |
| Sedan | Toyota Camry | 5 | Front-wheel | C$ 62 |
| Minivans | Honda Odyssey | 8 | Front-wheel | C$ 68 |
| Comfort | Nissan Sentra | 5 | Front-wheel | C$ 70 |
The Mercedes-Benz GLA brings Premium trim and all-wheel drive at C$ 61 a day, and the Honda Odyssey is the 8-seat pick at C$ 68.
Weekly and monthly car rental in Toronto explained
Long-term hire runs on two tiers: a weekly term from C$ 228 and a monthly term from C$ 798.
How the weekly tier is calculated
A week of long-term hire is charged as the daily rate times six, which is why weekly terms start at C$ 228 on our cheapest class. Take the Mitsubishi Mirage at C$ 38 a day: six times that lands on C$ 228, and the same multiplier carries up through the range to the Nissan Sentra at C$ 70 a day. The multiplier stays fixed across all seven classes, so the weekly figure moves only with the daily rate you picked.
How the monthly tier is calculated
A month is charged as the daily rate times 21, giving monthly terms from C$ 798 on this page. The Mitsubishi Mirage at C$ 38 a day produces that floor figure, while the Nissan Sentra at C$ 70 a day reaches C$ 1,470 for the same 21-day basis. The multiplier is the same for every class and every model, from the four-seat Chevrolet Spark to the eight-seat Hyundai Palisade. What changes between a week and a month is only the number of charged days, not the rate per day.
What fixes the term and the total
Class first, term second: the daily rate of the class sets both tiers, so choosing a Crossover at C$ 49 rather than an Economy at C$ 38 lifts every weekly and monthly figure.
Settle the class, and both tiers follow from one number.
Delivery and hand-over of a long-term rental
Where we bring the car
- City addresses: we deliver to any address in the city, whether that is a flat, a house or a workplace, and the exact door is confirmed with a manager at booking.
- Airports: Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) and John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM) are all inside our delivery area.
- Places with their own page: Union Station, Downtown Toronto, Mississauga, North York, Scarborough and Vaughan are covered as part of the delivery area, so a stay that starts at a station or in the suburbs needs no special arrangement.
- Outside the area: delivery beyond these places is arranged case by case and is not promised on the site, so raise it early rather than on the day.
The address, date and time are agreed with a manager before the reservation is fixed, so a delayed flight is a conversation to have at reservation, not at the kerb.
What the hand-over covers
The car comes clean with a full tank, and it must go back the same way — full-to-full. Anything missing from the tank, plus a refuelling service fee, is charged as set out in the rental agreement.
The deposit, the insurance excess and any delivery fee are set out in the rental agreement and are never a figure quoted in advance. The minimum rental age, the young-driver surcharge, the cards accepted and the territory limit are agreed when booking.
A long stay also means the car has to suit the season it runs into.
Regular petrol sat at about C$ 1.75 a litre in October 2026, and Highway 407 ETR charges cars from 49.93¢ to 119.21¢ a km by zone and time of entry, plus C$ 1 per trip; without a transponder the camera charge is C$ 5.30 per trip and C$ 5 a month.
Crossing into the United States is possible with most cars rented in Canada, but only with permission from the rental point, and without written permission the trip breaks the agreement and the insurance. A passport is needed at the border. On a long booking, say so when booking: it is a permission, not a formality.
Documents and driving rules for long-term car rental in Toronto
Ontario's licence rules turn on how long a visitor stays, not on what kind of car they drive. For a long-term car rental in Toronto that distinction decides what you carry in the glovebox from month two onward.
Who can drive on a foreign licence, and for how long
A visitor to Ontario staying less than 3 months can drive on a valid driver's licence from their own province, state or country — the rule is set by ontario.ca and applies to every driver on a long stay, whatever the class of car. Anyone visiting from another country for more than 3 months needs an International Driver's Permit (IDP) from their own country, and it cannot be issued in Canada.
Insurance, ownership and the minimum driver age
- Ownership permit: carry the original or an exact copy of the vehicle registration document in the car at all times.
- Minimum age: Ontario law sets the minimum driver age at 16; the minimum age for a rental and any young-driver surcharge are agreed when booking.
- Deposit and excess: both are set out in the rental agreement, never quoted in advance on this page.
Alcohol, speed and the limits that catch long-stay drivers
Ontario treats alcohol behind the wheel as a criminal matter from 0.08 (80 mg per 100 ml of blood). The band between 0.05 and 0.079 — the warn range — brings an immediate 7-day licence suspension, an 8-hour course and a C$250 fine on a first occurrence, while drivers aged 21 and under and holders of G1 or G2 licences sit at zero. Elsewhere the posted sign governs, so read it rather than assume.
Winter tyres and crossing into the United States
Winter tyres are not compulsory in Ontario, so a long stay through the cold months is legal on all-seasons — but Quebec requires them from 1 December to 15 March for cars registered there, including rental cars, with a fine of C$200–300, and vehicles plated in other provinces fall outside that rule. Most cars taken in Canada can be driven into the United States, but only with permission from the specific rental location, and without written permission the trip breaches both the agreement and the insurance; carry your passport at the border. Ask about the US trip when you book rather than the night before.
Fuel and tolls on a long-term car rental in Toronto
Fuel: full-to-full and what a litre costs
Rent-Trip supplies every car with a full tank and expects it back full — full-to-full is the only fuel option we offer, and any missing fuel plus a refuelling service fee is charged as set out in the rental agreement. Twenty-three of our cars run on petrol and one — the Toyota Camry — is a hybrid, which matters on a long stay with heavy mileage.
Highway 407 ETR is a toll road with no booths, and it bills by camera. Light-vehicle rates run from 49.93¢ to 119.21¢ per kilometre depending on zone and time of entry, plus a C$ 1 trip toll charge; without a transponder the camera charge is C$ 5.30 per trip and a C$ 5 monthly account fee. Who pays road charges, tolls and penalty notices on a hired car is not fixed on this page — it is agreed at reservation, so raise it with the manager before you commit to a month.
Winter tyres and the Quebec line
Winter tyres are not compulsory in Ontario, so a long booking here does not require them by law. Quebec is different: from 1 December to 15 March they are mandatory for vehicles registered in Quebec, hired cars included, with a fine of C$ 200–300 — and cars plated in other provinces fall outside that rule.
Long-term car rental in Toronto for trips out of town
Crossing into the United States on a long term
Taking the car across the border is not automatic, and the permission is written rather than assumed: without it the trip breaks both the agreement and the insurance. Bring your passport for the border itself. Quebec's winter tyre rule — mandatory from 1 December to 15 March for cars registered in Quebec, with a fine of C$ 200–300 — does not apply to a car on Ontario plates, so a winter run to Montreal needs no tyre change. Ontario itself sets no mandatory winter tyre date.
Highway 407 ETR is fully electronic, with no booths: light vehicles pay from 49.93¢ to 119.21¢ per km depending on zone and time of entry, plus a C$ 1 trip toll charge; without a transponder there is a camera charge of C$ 5.30 per trip and a C$ 5 monthly account fee.
