Economy and Comfort Cars Available for Daily Hire on the Costa Brava

Our daily car rental on the Costa Brava runs on 24 self-drive cars split into two classes: Economy, with 20 cars from €22 a day, and Comfort, with 4 cars from €35 a day. Every car seats four or five, runs on petrol or hybrid, and comes with either a manual or an automatic gearbox.

Economy cars from €22 a day

• Peugeot 108: 4 seats, petrol, manual, 1.0 L, 72 hp, €22 a day, the fourth model at the entry price.
• Hyundai i10: 4 seats, petrol, automatic, 1.0 L, 67 hp, €25 a day — the cheapest automatic in the fleet.
• Toyota Yaris Hybrid: 5 seats, hybrid, automatic, 1.5 L, 116 hp, €30 a day, the strongest Economy car we hold.

Comfort cars from €35 a day

Skoda Scala, Ford Focus, Opel Astra and Renault Megane make up the Comfort class at €35–€36 a day, all five-seat hatchbacks with 110–140 hp. Skoda Scala is the entry point at €35, with a 1.0 L 110 hp petrol engine and a manual gearbox. Ford Focus, Opel Astra and Renault Megane sit at €36, and the Megane's 1.3 L unit is the most powerful engine on this page at 140 hp.

Automatic and hybrid options

Automatic and hybrid both sit inside Economy, so neither pushes you into the Comfort band. Three cars come with a self-shifting gearbox — Hyundai i10, Skoda Fabia and Toyota Yaris Hybrid — and two of those, the Fabia and the Yaris, carry five seats. Hybrids are the Fiat 500, Fiat Panda and Yaris Hybrid, all of them manual except the Yaris. Drivers who have never worked a manual can choose from three automatics; the Yaris Hybrid is the most powerful of them at 116 hp.

Daily car hire here runs on one fixed sequence: you agree the delivery address, date and time with a manager, the booking is confirmed, the car arrives clean with a full tank, and it goes back full-to-full.

Agreeing the address, date and time with a manager

The delivery address, the date and the time are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed. That single conversation settles where the car should be, when you want it and how long you need it — a day, a week at daily x 6 from €132, or a month at daily x 21 from €462. Our managers work from the confirmed address, so the driver is sent to a place you have already named rather than to a guess. Fix the address first and you avoid a second call on arrival day, when you are standing outside with luggage and the car is not where you expected it. If your plans move — a later flight, a change of apartment — say so before the booking is fixed rather than after.

What happens at hand-over

• Full-to-full return: the car comes back with a full tank; in Spain this policy is written as lleno-lleno.
• Missing fuel: if the tank is short, the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the rental agreement.
• No other fuel option: a pre-paid tank or full-to-empty is not offered on this site.
• The agreement: deposit, insurance excess, delivery fees and any discounts are set out in the rental agreement, not quoted here.

A day of rental costs between €22 and €36 depending on the class, and the class you pick decides how the same trip feels. A manager cannot route a driver to «somewhere near the beach». Tell us the exact address, the date and the time in one message, and the hand-over is a short stop rather than a search.

Picking the car up at the airport

Both airports on this stretch are covered: Girona-Costa Brava (GRO) sits at Vilobí d'Onyar, 12.5 km south-west of Girona, and Barcelona-El Prat (BCN) handles the longer-haul arrivals. From GRO the run to Lloret de Mar is 34.6 km and about 37 minutes, to Roses 75.2 km and about 63 minutes, and to Cadaqués 89.4 km, 41.8 km of it on the AP-7. From BCN, Lloret is 89.6 km and roughly 75 minutes without traffic.

What to have ready when you book

If you are staying somewhere with restricted access or no parking bay, say so at this stage: the meeting point is settled then, not on the day. Delivery beyond these towns is arranged case by case and is not promised here. Fuel, Parking and the Girona ZBE on a Daily Car Rental in Costa Brava

Fuel: Petrol 95 E5 and the full-to-full rule

Rent-Trip hands over every car clean with a full tank, and the car must come back full-to-full — in Spain, lleno-lleno. Petrol 95 E5 averages €1.94 a litre across the province of Girona, with a median of €1.979, a low of €1.718 and a high of €2.122 across 250 filling stations. Along the coast the average sits at €1.956 across 58 stations, so filling up inland rather than at a resort forecourt saves a cent or two a litre. Petrol 98 E5 averages €2.106 province-wide, and diesel (Gasóleo A) €1.922. Refuel within range of the return point: a missing tank is charged with the missing fuel plus a refuelling service fee, both set out in the rental agreement. If you are returning the car early in the morning, top up the evening before.

Parking: zona blava, zona verda and free intercept lots

• Girona zona blava: €1.20 an hour, two hours maximum (€2.40), Monday to Saturday on working days, 9:30–13:00 and 16:00–20:00; the Sant Narcís area runs on different hours.
• Girona zona verda: non-residents pay the same €1.20 an hour for up to two hours, with Pedreres–Vista Alegre on Monday–Friday 9:30–13:00 and 17:00–20:00 plus Saturday mornings, and Güell–Devesa on Monday–Saturday 8:00–20:00.
• Lloret de Mar, Can Lloranes: 160 spaces at roughly €15 a day from 23 June to 11 September, free outside that window.
• Lloret de Mar zona blava: zones A (Tarradellas and Francesc Macià) operate all year with seasonal hours; zone C (Fenals, Canyelles, Boadella, Can Lloranes) only from 23 June to 11 September.

The pay-and-display ticket must carry the same plate number as the car — a mismatch reads as unpaid parking.

The Girona ZBE and how a rental plate behaves

The Zona de baixes emissions (ZBE) de Girona has applied since 15.09.2025, covering the area from la Devesa park to c. d'Emili Grahit and from c. del Riu Güell to c. del Carme and Barri Vell. It runs 7:00–20:00, Monday to Friday on working days, and restricts cars without a DGT environmental badge that are not registered in Girona. Cameras read plate numbers, so you never display the sticker. Foreign plates can obtain a temporary authorisation when the car meets the technical and environmental requirements, and Spanish rental fleets carry the DGT badge, so a car from us faces no restriction. There is also an allowance of 24 days a year inside the restricted hours without authorisation — useful if you are staying in the old town. If a Girona stop is on your route, drive in outside those hours or leave the car at a zona blava space on the edge of Barri Vell and walk in.

Day Trips You Can Make on a Daily Car Rental in Costa Brava

A daily car earns its keep on the coast by joining the dots: the region is a string of resorts, coves and inland towns, not one walkable place. With a car in the driveway you leave when you want and stop where the view is good.

Coastal runs that fit inside one day

• Lloret de Mar: 34.6 km and 37 minutes from GRO along the C-63 and A-2, the closest resort to the airport for a swim-and-back morning.
• Roses: 75.2 km and 63 minutes via the AP-7 and C-260; beyond it lies the Cap de Creus peninsula, where the road from Cadaqués to the Far de Cap de Creus is closed to cars at set hours through the season.

Inland days away from the beach

• Figueres: the Dalí theatre-museum town, 57.9 km from Girona-Costa Brava Airport.

The AP-7 corridor from Barcelona through Girona to the French border has been toll-free since 01.09.2021, and the C-32 Maresme barriers came down the same night — so a long coastal day costs fuel, not tolls. Petrol 95 E5 averaged 1.94 €/l across the province of Girona and 1.956 €/l on the coast. Fill the tank near your base rather than on the motorway, and check the return point before you set off: the car goes back full-to-full, and the refuelling fee for a short tank is set out in the rental agreement.

The Girona Zona de baixes emissions (ZBE) de Girona operates 7:00–20:00, Monday to Friday on working days, and rental cars in Spain carry the DGT environmental sticker, so an inland day through the city does not need a permit.

Documents and Insurance for Daily Car Rental in Costa Brava Bookings

Two things decide how smooth the hand-over goes on a daily car rental in Costa Brava: the paperwork your driving licence sits in, and the terms you have already read through before the car arrives.

Driving documents for a daily rental

• EU and EEA licences: valid in Spain exactly as issued until the printed expiry date, with nothing extra to carry alongside them.
• Licences from outside the EU and EEA: valid for driving as a visitor, but the DGT recommends applying for an international driving permit before you travel and keeping it with your passport and national licence. Six months after you take up residence in Spain, the national licence stops being valid and has to be exchanged.
• Licences not printed in Spanish or Latin script: the DGT route is either an official sworn translation into Spanish or a permit issued on the pattern of Annex 9 of the Geneva Convention or Annex 6 of the Vienna Convention — which in practice means the international permit or a certified translation.
• International Driving Permit (Permiso Internacional de Conducción): valid for one year, and never a standalone document.

Insurance on a daily rental

Every car legally on a Spanish road carries Seguro Obligatorio de Responsabilidad Civil — compulsory third-party cover, included in the rental price by law and active whether or not the driver is named on the agreement. The statutory limits are €70,000,000 per incident for personal injury and €15,000,000 per incident for property damage, under Real Decreto Legislativo 8/2004, article 4.2, as amended by Ley 5/2025, with the sums in force since 26.07.2025. That cover protects third parties, not the car and not the driver.
