Citroën car rental in London

James WhitmoreFleet manager
Published Updated

A week of London errands, airport runs and weekend escapes is easier when the car comes to you — Rent-Trip delivers a Citroën to any address in the city and to Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, London City and Southend airports. We have 2 Citroën cars on this page, from £22 to £32 a day, weekly from £132 and monthly from £462.

Citroën Car Rental in London With Delivery to Your Address

We bring the car to you. No depot visit, no queue at a counter. Rent-Trip runs Citroën car rental in London with two models — the C3 Aircross crossover from £22 a day and the C3 hatchback from £32 — and the address, date and time of hand-over are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed. The same person confirms which of the two models you get and when the keys change hands, so the plan is settled in one conversation rather than at a kerb.

How Citroën Car Rental Reaches Your Door

We deliver the Citroën to any address in the city, and the address, date and time are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed. In our practice, the requests that go smoothly are the ones where the full postcode and a rough arrival window arrive together in the first message; a partial address costs a day of back-and-forth. Delivery outside our listed places is arranged case by case and is not promised on the site — plan the address before you book.

Airports and Stations Covered by Citroën Car Rental

  • Six airports: we deliver to Heathrow (LHR), Gatwick (LGW), Stansted (STN), Luton (LTN), London City (LCY) and Southend (SEN), with the terminal named in the request.
  • Rail terminals: St Pancras & King's Cross, Euston, Paddington, Victoria and Waterloo are all inside the delivery area.
  • Event and hotel addresses: Wembley and Mayfair are on the same list, so a match ticket or a hotel booking is enough to anchor the hand-over.
  • Outside the listed places: arranged case by case and not promised on the site.

Name the terminal in the booking request — the delivery point is fixed with the manager, not chosen at the kerb. On a first trip this matters more than it sounds: Heathrow alone handles tens of millions of passengers a year, and the difference between the right and wrong meeting point there is easily forty minutes of walking with luggage.

What to Have Ready Before the Car Arrives

The car comes clean with a full tank, and it must go back full — the full-to-full rule is the only fuel option we offer, and anything missing is charged as set out in the rental agreement. Beyond that, the deposit, the insurance excess, delivery fees and any discounts sit in the rental agreement, so read it before the dates are locked. In our experience the hand-over itself takes minutes when the agreement has been read in advance and the return fuel stop is already planned into the last day.

The Two Citroën Models Available for Car Hire in London

Our Citroën car hire in London runs on two cars, and that is the whole range: the C3 Aircross in Crossover and the C3 in Economy. Both are 5-seat petrol manuals with front-wheel drive and a 1.2 L engine, so the decision comes down to body style and power rather than to equipment lists. One is the cheapest car on this page, the other the most expensive, and the gap between them is £10 a day.

Citroen C3 Aircross and Citroen C3 Side by Side

ModelClassBodySeatsEnginePowerGearboxFuelFrom
Citroen C3 AircrossCrossoverCrossover51.2 L110 hpManualPetrol£22/day
Citroen C3EconomyHatchback51.2 L83 hpManualPetrol£32/day

The C3 Aircross is a Crossover at £22 a day; the C3 is an Economy Hatchback at £32 a day. Both share the 1.2 L engine and 5 seats, so the choice is body style and power — 110 hp against 83 hp. In our experience the taller crossover body is the one travellers pick when the boot has to swallow luggage for a family, while the hatchback suits a couple moving between hotels.

What Every Citroën in the Fleet Has in Common

Both cars are 5-seat petrol manuals with front-wheel drive and right-hand drive, as all cars here are. That narrows the specification to a single shape: no automatic option, no diesel, no seven-seat variant, and no all-wheel drive. Petrol is the only fuel across both models, and the 1.2 L unit is the only engine. A manual gearbox on the left is the one habit worth rehearsing before you leave the delivery point — the stick falls under your left hand, not your right, and the first junction in traffic is where that shows.

Which Citroën to Book for Which Trip

  • City days and short hops: the C3 hatchback, at 83 hp and 4 m long, threads through narrow streets and fits standard bays without a second look.
  • Airport runs with luggage: the C3 Aircross, whose crossover body and 110 hp take four cases and a pushchair without folding the rear seats.
  • Longer bookings: the C3 Aircross, because it is the cheapest on this page and therefore the model where a week or a month moves the least.
  • First time on the left: either car, since both are manual and right-hand drive — the difference is power, not layout.

Two cars is a small fleet, so availability on a specific date is agreed with a manager when you book rather than held on the site. If your dates are fixed, name the model in the request and let us confirm it before you plan the rest of the trip.

What Citroën Car Rental in London Costs and How Long Bookings Run

Rates on this page sit between £22 and £32 a day, and longer bookings follow two fixed multipliers: a week is the daily rate times six, a month is the daily rate times twenty-one. Both cars are priced by class, so the figure you see against a model is the figure the booking is built on. The Crossover class holds one car at £22 a day, the Economy class one car at £32 a day, and those two numbers are the whole spread on this page — there is no third tier to step up to.

Daily Rates Across the Citroën Range

Daily rates run from £22 for the C3 Aircross to £32 for the C3, and those are the only two figures on the page. The C3 Aircross is the cheapest on this page at £22, the C3 the most expensive at £32, a gap of £10 between the two. In our experience most people decide on body style first and check the rate second, which is why the crossover usually goes first on a weekend request. If the daily figure is what decides your trip, book the C3 Aircross and put the difference into fuel — at £1.75 a litre for petrol, £10 buys roughly six litres.

Weekly and Monthly Bookings

A week starts at £132 and a month at £462, calculated as daily × 6 and daily × 21. Those two multipliers are the only ones we apply: a seven-day booking on the C3 Aircross comes to £132, the same car for a month to £462, and the C3 scales the same way from its £32 daily rate. We do not quote any other long-stay figure, and no separate weekend or midweek tariff exists on this page.

  • Deposit: the amount is set out in the rental agreement, not on this page — read it before you fix dates.
  • Insurance excess: also set out in the rental agreement, and it differs from the daily rate you see here.
  • Delivery fees: where a fee applies it is set out in the rental agreement, so ask the manager when the address is confirmed.
  • Discounts: any reduction is set out in the rental agreement; nothing beyond the daily, weekly and monthly figures above is promised here.

A month on the C3 Aircross at £462 is the £22 daily rate times twenty-one, so it beats paying by the week only once the stay runs past about three and a half weeks — three weeks come to £396.

One practical note from our side: the multipliers reward planning, not luck. Fix the dates with the manager first, then read the agreement, because the deposit and excess sit there and nowhere else.

Driving a Citroën Car Rental in London on the Left

The C3 Aircross and the C3 are manual, petrol and front-wheel drive, so the gear lever sits under your left hand and the mirror you check for overtaking is the one on your right. That is the single biggest adjustment for a driver arriving from a right-hand-traffic country, and it is worth ten minutes of practice on a quiet street before you join traffic.

Right-Hand Drive and Left-Hand Traffic for a Citroën Hire

Both Citroëns are right-hand drive and you keep to the left of the road, as Highway Code rule 160 sets out. Every car we supply is right-hand drive and left-hand traffic applies across the whole of the United Kingdom, so the habit carries from the delivery point to the motorway. At a roundabout you give way to traffic approaching from the right and travel clockwise — Highway Code rule 185; rule 183 asks you to keep close to the left edge when turning. Our drivers most often misjudge the first roundabout, not the first mile, so pick a route with one junction you can watch before you commit to a longer drive. In our experience the mirror check is what takes longest to reset, not the gear change.

Speed, Alcohol and Phone Rules for a Citroën Hire

  • Speed limits: 30 mph (48 km/h) in built-up areas across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, 60 mph (96 km/h) on a single carriageway, 70 mph (112 km/h) on a dual carriageway and on a motorway.
  • Lit roads: 30 mph applies by default on lit roads unless signs say otherwise, and many zones here post 20 mph — read the signs rather than assume the default.
  • Alcohol: England, Wales and Northern Ireland allow 80 mg per 100 ml of blood, 35 µg per 100 ml of breath and 107 mg per 100 ml of urine; Scotland is stricter at 50 / 22 / 67.
  • Phones: holding and using a phone, satnav or tablet is banned even while stopped at a light — £200 and 6 penalty points, and a driver who passed under 2 years ago loses the licence; hands-free is allowed if the device does not block your view.
  • Seat belts: a belt is required where fitted, and children need a child seat until they reach 135 cm or turn 12, whichever comes first — up to £500.

Congestion Charge and ULEZ on a Citroën Hire

The Congestion Charge is £18 a day when paid on the day of travel or in advance, and £21 if paid by midnight on the third day after the trip; it runs 07:00–18:00 Monday to Friday and 12:00–18:00 at weekends and on bank holidays, and is not charged from 25 December to the New Year bank holiday inclusive. ULEZ is £12.50 a day for vehicles that do not meet the standards, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except 25 December, and covers all 32 boroughs — the M25 sits outside it. A petrol car needs Euro 4 or better; a diesel needs Euro 6. A PCN is £180, cut to £90 if paid within 14 days. Check the registration on the TfL vehicle checker before you drive in, and settle who covers charges and penalties when you book — the rental agreement sets out the rest.

Motorways, Tolls and the Practical Route Out

Dartford Crossing on the M25 charges class B cars £3.50 per crossing, or £2.80 if you pay in advance, and the charge applies 6:00–22:00 every day including weekends and holidays; payment is due by midnight the following day, and a PCN is £70, £35 within 14 days, £105 if unpaid. The Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels charge £4.20 at peak — northbound 06:00–10:00 and southbound 16:00–19:00 on weekdays — and £1.55 off-peak with Auto Pay, from 6:00 to 22:00 on weekdays and all day at weekends. Fuel is full-to-full on our cars: the tank comes full and must go back full, with any missing fuel and the refuelling service fee charged as set out in the rental agreement. Petrol sits at £1.75 a litre and diesel at £1.99, so filling up away from the motorway services before you return saves the most.

Congestion Charge and ULEZ With Citroën Car Rental in London

Two charging schemes run alongside each other in the capital, and both apply to a Citroën on the road. The Congestion Charge covers the centre inside the Inner Ring Road, while ULEZ covers all 32 boroughs. We hand the car over with a full tank and a clean interior, and who pays the charges is agreed when booking.

Congestion Charge: Hours, Rates and the Zone

  • Rate: £18 per day when paid on the day of travel or in advance; £21 if paid by midnight on the third day after the trip.
  • Hours: 07:00–18:00 Monday to Friday; 12:00–18:00 Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays; no charge from 25 December to the New Year bank holiday inclusive.
  • Zone: inside the Inner Ring Road — Pentonville Rd, City Rd, Old St, Commercial St, Mansell St, Tower Bridge Rd, New Kent Rd, Elephant & Castle, Kennington Ln, Vauxhall Bridge Rd, Park Ln, Edgware Rd, Marylebone Rd and Euston Rd sit outside or on the boundary.
  • Electric cars: the 100% Cleaner Vehicle Discount ended on 25.12.2025; from 02.01.2026 electric cars on Auto Pay pay 25% less (£13.50 instead of £18), electric vans and HGVs 50%, and there is no discount without Auto Pay.
  • Penalty: a PCN is £180, reduced to £90 if paid within 14 days, rising to £270 after a charge certificate, with 28 days to pay.

The charge stands at £18. Both Citroëns here are petrol, so the electric discount does not apply to either — the full £18 applies to each charging day in the zone, and who pays it on a hired car is agreed when booking.

ULEZ: What It Costs and How to Check a Citroën

  • Charge: £12.50 per day for a vehicle that falls short of the standard.
  • Hours: around the clock, every day of the year apart from 25 December.
  • Zone: all 32 boroughs; the M25 itself is outside, and the zone covers more than 1,500 km².
  • Standards: petrol cars and vans must be at least Euro 4 (broadly 2006 or later); diesel Euro 6 (September 2016); motorcycles Euro 3.
  • Penalty: a PCN is £180, cut to £90 if paid within 14 days.
  • Check: use the TfL vehicle checker with the registration number before you set off.

The C3 Aircross and the C3 are both 1.2 L petrol models, and a Euro 4 petrol engine clears the ULEZ standard — but the vehicle checker, not the badge, is what counts. Run the plate the moment the car is handed over, because a mismatch discovered mid-trip costs £12.50 a day until it is sorted.

Tolls and Who Settles What

The Dartford Crossing charges class B cars £3.50 per crossing on a one-off or pay-as-you-go basis, or £2.80 if prepaid, usually between 6:00 and 22:00 every day; settle it by the end of the next day, and a PCN is £70, £35 if paid within 14 days, £105 if left unpaid. The Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels cost £4.20 at peak (northbound 06:00–10:00 and southbound 16:00–19:00 on weekdays) and £1.55 off-peak with Auto Pay, effective 21 September 2026. Who pays the congestion charge, the ULEZ charge, tolls and any penalty notice on a hired car is not fixed on this page — it is agreed when booking, so settle it with the manager before the keys change hands.

Fuel and Hand-Over for Citroën Car Rental in London

The fuel rule on this page is simple and strict: the car is supplied with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank. That is the full-to-full policy, and it is the only fuel option we offer — a pre-paid tank or a full-to-empty arrangement is not available on the site. If the car comes back with less fuel than it left with, the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the rental agreement. In practice that means the last stop before hand-back is a filling station, not the delivery address.

What Full-to-Full Means for Citroën Car Rental

  • Full tank on delivery: the Citroën arrives clean and with a full tank, so the fuel gauge reads full at the moment you take it over.
  • Full tank on return: the same gauge must read full when the car goes back, whether that happens at your address or at an airport.
  • The gap is charged: any missing fuel is billed together with a refuelling service fee, both set out in the rental agreement.
  • No alternative scheme: a pre-paid tank and a full-to-empty return are not offered here, so there is nothing to choose between at booking.
  • Petrol only: both Citroëns run on petrol, and the 1.2 L engine in each takes standard unleaded.

A practical note from our own hand-overs: fill up within the last few miles rather than at the start of the day. A full tank bought early in a long booking is weight you carry around, and the gauge is what gets checked at return, not the receipt.

Handing the Citroën Back

The date, the time and the place of hand-back are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed, exactly as the delivery address is. Rent-Trip collects the car from the address you named, so there is no depot to drive to and no counter queue at the end of the trip.

Conditions that sit outside the fuel rule — the deposit, the insurance excess, delivery fees and any discounts — are set out in the rental agreement, and we go through them with you when the booking is confirmed rather than leaving them to the last morning. Two details are worth settling at that same point. The first is the return time: an early flight out of Heathrow or Gatwick makes a 07:00 hand-back the sensible choice, and the manager needs that in the booking, not a phone call from the kerb. The second is the fuel stop. If your last day runs through the Congestion Charge zone between 07:00 and 18:00 on a weekday, build the filling station into the route rather than adding a detour afterwards — the charge itself is a separate matter agreed when booking, but the clock is not.

Keep the fuel receipt until the car has been checked over. It is the quickest way to settle any question about the level in the tank, and it costs nothing to hold on to for a day.

Beyond that, the hand-over is short: the car goes back as it arrived — clean, full, with the keys and the paperwork that came with it. Anything that needs sorting afterwards is handled through the rental agreement, which is why reading it before the dates are fixed is worth the ten minutes.

Which Citroën Car Rental in London Fits Your Trip

The two Citroëns on this page split cleanly along trip type rather than budget: one is a tall crossover built for luggage, the other a compact hatchback built for narrow streets. Neither is automatic and neither is diesel, so the decision is about where you are going and what you are carrying, not about equipment. Below are the scenarios we see most often on Citroën car rental bookings.

A Family Week With Luggage

  • The car: Citroen C3 Aircross, the Crossover at £22 a day, 110 hp, 5 seats.
  • Why it works: the taller body takes four cases and a pushchair without folding the rear seats, so the cabin stays usable for passengers.
  • The route: a hotel in Mayfair or a flat near Canary Wharf as the base, with day runs out to Windsor or The Cotswolds.
  • The catch: it is a manual, so the driver does the gear changes while everyone else navigates.

A Couple's City Break

  • The car: Citroen C3, the Economy hatchback at £32 a day, 83 hp, 5 seats.
  • Why it works: a shorter body parks in standard bays and turns in tight side streets without a three-point shuffle.
  • The route: hotel-to-hotel hops between Paddington, Victoria and Waterloo, with the car parked for most of the day.
  • The catch: it is the most expensive car on this page, so a short booking keeps the total sensible.

An Airport Pick-Up and a Run Out of Town

  • The car: either, depending on luggage — the C3 Aircross if the boot is full, the C3 if it is not.
  • Why it works: we deliver to Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, London City and Southend, so the car is waiting when the flight lands.
  • The route: land, collect, drive to Oxford or Cambridge the same day rather than paying for a night in the centre first.
  • The catch: name the terminal in the request, because the meeting point is agreed with a manager, not chosen on arrival.

Crossover or Economy for Citroën car rental in London

Both classes on this page hold exactly one car, so the comparison is really between two models rather than two tiers. The Crossover class is the C3 Aircross at £22 a day; the Economy class is the C3 at £32 a day. That is the full spread — there is no third class to step up to and no larger car to upgrade into.

What the Classes Share

  • Seats: 5 in both, so passenger count never decides between them.
  • Fuel: petrol in both, at £1.75 a litre — no diesel option exists on this page.
  • Drive: front-wheel in both, which is what you want for city streets and motorway cruising alike.
  • Gearbox: manual in both, with the lever under your left hand.
  • Engine size: 1.2 L in both, so road tax bands and fuel economy sit close together.
  • Right-hand drive: both, as every car we supply is.

Where They Actually Differ

Citroen C3 AircrossCitroen C3
ClassCrossoverEconomy
BodyCrossoverHatchback
Power110 hp83 hp
Daily rate£22£32
Best forLuggage, familiesCity parking, couples

The 27 hp gap is the difference you feel merging onto a motorway; the body height is the difference you feel loading the boot. In our experience the crossover is booked first on weekend requests and the hatchback on midweek city stays — worth knowing if your dates are flexible and you have a preference.

Reading the Rental Agreement Before You Book

The daily rate is the smallest number in the agreement, and the one most people stop at. Deposit, insurance excess, delivery fees and any discounts all sit in the document rather than on this page, and they are the figures that decide what a claim or a late change actually costs. Reading it before the dates are fixed takes ten minutes and settles most of the questions that otherwise surface at hand-over.

What the Agreement Covers

  • Deposit: the amount is set out in the rental agreement, not here — check it before you commit to dates.
  • Insurance excess: also set out in the agreement, and it is separate from the daily rate you see on this page.
  • Delivery fees: where a fee applies it is stated in the agreement, so ask when the address is confirmed.
  • Discounts: any reduction is set out in the agreement; nothing beyond the daily, weekly and monthly figures is promised here.
  • Fuel: full-to-full is the Rent-Trip rule — the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the agreement.

Questions Worth Asking the Manager

  • The exact hand-over point: the address, date and time are agreed before the booking is fixed, so confirm the postcode rather than a street name.
  • The return time: an early flight makes an early hand-back the sensible choice, and the manager needs it in the booking.
  • Model availability: two cars is a small fleet, so a specific model on a specific date is confirmed at booking rather than held on the site.
  • Who settles charges: congestion charge, ULEZ, tolls and any penalty notice are agreed when booking — settle it before the keys change hands.

Long Stays in a Citroën Car Rental in London

A month on the C3 Aircross comes to £462, calculated as the daily rate times twenty-one, and a week starts at £132, calculated as the daily rate times six. Those two multipliers are the only ones we apply — there is no separate weekend tariff, no midweek rate and no seasonal surcharge quoted on this page.

Why the Multipliers Matter Over a Month

For anyone based in the city for a few weeks, Citroën car rental in London works out cheapest on the crossover. The gap between the two models widens with the length of the booking. At £22 daily the C3 Aircross runs to £132 for a week and £462 for a month; the C3 at £32 scales to the same multipliers from a higher base. Over four weeks that difference compounds into the kind of sum worth spending on fuel instead — at £1.75 a litre, the saving buys a lot of petrol. The multipliers reward fixing dates early, not hunting for a lower rate, because the rate itself does not move.

  • Parking permits: residential bays in many boroughs need a permit, and the rules differ by borough — check before you sign for a flat.
  • The Congestion Charge: at £18 a day it adds up fast over a month, so route around the Inner Ring Road where you can.
  • ULEZ: both Citroëns are petrol and clear the standard, but run the plate on the TfL vehicle checker at hand-over.
  • Servicing and tyres: a month is long enough for a warning light to appear — raise it with the manager rather than waiting for hand-back.
  • The fuel habit: fill up within the last few miles of the return, not at the start of the week.

Common Mistakes on a Citroën Car Rental in London

Most of the problems we see on Citroën car rental in London bookings are avoidable in the first message, not at the kerb. A partial address, a terminal named only as «the airport», a return time left vague — each costs hours of back-and-forth or a renegotiated hand-over. The list below is what we would tell a friend before they book.

At the Booking Stage

  • Assuming an automatic: both Citroëns are manual, and no automatic exists on this page — if you cannot drive a manual, this is not the fleet for you.
  • Assuming a diesel: petrol is the only fuel across both models, at £1.75 a litre.
  • A street name instead of a postcode: the full postcode and a rough arrival window in the first message is what makes a delivery go smoothly.
  • Leaving the return time open: the date, time and place of hand-back are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed, so name them early.
  • Booking for the model rather than the trip: two cars is a small fleet, and availability on a date is confirmed at booking.

On the Road

  • The first roundabout, not the first mile: give way to traffic from the right and travel clockwise — Highway Code rule 185 — and pick a quiet junction to practise on.
  • Forgetting the charge zone: the Congestion Charge runs 07:00–18:00 on weekdays and 12:00–18:00 at weekends and on bank holidays, and a charge left unpaid after midnight on the third day after the trip brings a £180 PCN, cut to £90 within 14 days.
  • Skipping the vehicle checker: run the registration on the TfL vehicle checker at hand-over, because a mismatch found mid-trip costs £12.50 a day.
  • Returning on empty: the car goes back full, and the missing fuel plus a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the rental agreement.
  • Holding the phone at a light: using a handheld phone even while stopped is £200 and 6 penalty points.
