How car rental worldwide works with Rent-Trip
Car rental worldwide with Rent-Trip runs on three steps: you send a booking request, a manager confirms the car and the dates, and we deliver the car to the address you agreed.
What self-drive means at Rent-Trip
Self-drive car rental worldwide means the car is handed to you and you drive it yourself — there is no driver in the price. Rent-Trip works this way in every destination we cover, whether that is an island in Thailand, a city in the UAE or Turkey, or a Florida metro area. What changes between countries is the paperwork, not the principle: traffic keeps to the left and cars are right-hand drive in Thailand, while Florida drives on the right in left-hand-drive US-spec vehicles.
Booking with a manager, step by step
- Send a request: message us on WhatsApp or call, and tell us your dates, the city and the class you want.
- Get a confirmation: a manager checks availability across our 1471 cars and confirms the exact model and the total.
- Agree the hand-over: you fix the time and the meeting point with the manager, including delivery.
Where and when we deliver the car
We bring the car to the address you agree when booking, and the exact meeting point is confirmed with the manager beforehand. Delivery is arranged around your arrival time, so the hand-over happens where you already are rather than at a counter you have to find first.
The fleet: classes, models and what you actually drive
Our worldwide fleet is 1471 cars across 18 classes, 1145 of them automatic, with seat counts from 2 to 17; daily rates start at ฿690 in Thailand, $40 in the USA, AED 55 in the UAE, ₺1,600 in Turkey, €29 in France, €13 in Spain, $30 in Georgia and £22 in the United Kingdom. You book a class, the manager confirms the exact car, and we deliver it to the address you agree.

Seats, fuel and transmission in our worldwide cars
All but 326 cars on this page are automatic, seat counts run from 2 to 17, and fuel types cover petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric. Transmissions are automatic on 1145 of the 1471 cars, drive layouts range from front-wheel through all-wheel to 4x4, and engines sit between 1.0 L and 6.75 L. Seven-seaters form a class of their own, and 122 cars make up the Electric class.
What car rental worldwide costs — daily, weekly and monthly rates
How weekly and monthly rates work
A week is charged as the daily rate × 6 — six days paid, seven days driven. An Economy car kept for a week costs six daily rates, and for a month twenty-one.
What decides the total you pay
The class you choose sets the starting figure, but three other things move it: how many days you keep the car, how far you drive, and which country you collect in. Mileage is unlimited in Florida and on Phuket, while in the Emirates 250 km a day is included and extra kilometres are charged. Tax is handled differently too — it is already inside the Thai price at 7%, shown separately at 5% in the Emirates, and added at payment in Florida together with the $2/day state surcharge.
Where the daily figure stops being the whole story
- Longer trips: the weekly and monthly multipliers apply to every class, so a month on a Premium car is charged as the daily rate × 21 rather than one daily rate for every day of the month, and the per-day figure falls as the booking lengthens.
The step from Economy to a Crossover is paid on every day of the booking, so compare the weekly totals before you choose.
Documents you need, country by country
The exact set of papers depends on the country you collect the car in, so the manager confirms it when your booking is agreed.
What you show at hand-over
- International Driving Permit: required in Thailand unless you hold an ASEAN licence; in the USA it is not required by Florida law and works only as a translation if your licence is not in English.
- Emirates ID and UAE licence: residents show these instead of a passport and a foreign licence.
Why the in-person check matters
In Phuket, the fine for driving without an International Driving Permit runs ฿500–1,000 and an insurer may refuse a claim, so the permit is worth arranging before you fly.
What the price includes: insurance and taxes
What is included in a car rental price depends on the country where you collect the car: compulsory third-party cover and VAT 7% in Thailand, comprehensive insurance (CDW) and VAT 5% shown separately in the UAE, state-minimum liability and a Loss Damage Waiver in the USA. The rest — the excess, the deductible, the deposit — is set out in the rental agreement at hand-over.
What is already in the price
| Country | Cover included | Tax | Mileage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thailand | Compulsory motor insurance (Por Ror Bor) | VAT 7% included | Unlimited on the island |
| UAE | Comprehensive insurance (CDW) | VAT 5% shown separately | 250 km per day |
| USA | State-minimum liability, Loss Damage Waiver | Added at payment | Unlimited within Florida |
Terms that sit in the rental agreement
- Excess and deductible: what you pay towards damage is written into the agreement — Thai Class 1 cover and the US Loss Damage Waiver each carry their own terms.
Taxes, surcharges and how payment works
In Florida prices exclude tax: 6.5% sales tax in Orange County, 7.5% in Osceola, 7% in Seminole and Polk by the county of hand-over, plus the $2/day rental car surcharge for the first 30 days. Those are added when you pay.
Insurance you arrange yourself
A home driving licence plus an International Driving Permit is what Thai law expects from a foreign visitor; the police fine for driving without one is ฿500–1,000, and an insurer may refuse a claim. Our advice from handling hand-overs: sort your permit before you fly, because no cover in the agreement replaces a document you were legally required to carry.
What we cannot quote before booking
Delivery fees outside Greater Orlando, the young-driver fee amount, toll-program fees and any discount scheme are agreed when booking or written into the agreement — they are not fixed figures we publish. If a term matters to your trip, ask the manager to confirm it in writing before you sign.
Picking up and returning the car
Hand-over is where a worldwide booking stops being an arrangement and becomes a car in front of you. With Rent-Trip the hand-over happens wherever you already are: we bring the vehicle to the address agreed when booking, and the exact meeting point is confirmed with the manager beforehand.
What happens at hand-over
The car arrives clean and, where our terms say so, with a full tank. In Florida we inspect the physical licence and witness the signature as state law requires, so a digital licence on a phone is not accepted.
Documents to have ready at hand-over
- Physical driving licence: the card itself, in the main driver's name — digital versions are not accepted in Florida.
- International Driving Permit: required in Thailand for non-ASEAN licence holders; in the USA it is only a translation aid.
- Booking details: the dates, the address and the meeting point you agreed with the manager, so the hand-over matches the booking.
Timing your pick-up and drop-off
Book the delivery slot around your flight or check-in rather than the other way round, because the car comes to you and the meeting point is agreed when booking. In Dubai our delivery runs 24/7, including the airport, and in Orlando we cover Greater Orlando with delivery free of charge; in Phuket delivery across the island is free as well.
Long trips, one-way rentals and add-ons
A long trip in a hired car usually turns on three decisions: how many days you book, where the vehicle goes back, and which extras you add before hand-over. We handle all three through the manager, not a checkout form, so the terms you agree are the ones written into the agreement.
Booking a long rental and keeping the rate down
- Weekly rate: a week costs the daily rate multiplied by six — seven days driven, six paid.
- Daily rate: available from 1 day in Phuket and in the USA, which suits a short stay, but the per-day price drops once you pass into a weekly or monthly booking.
- Mileage: in Florida mileage is unlimited, and on Phuket mileage is unlimited; in the UAE 250 km per day is included and extra kilometres are charged.
One-way rentals and where the car goes back
In the USA, journeys to other states are agreed when booking, while Mexico, Canada and ferries are prohibited under the agreement. In the UAE, delivery runs across the city around the clock, including the airport.
Add-ons and extras for a longer route
- Extra drivers and delivery beyond the standard zone: arranged with the manager, with the terms set out in the agreement.
Why travellers choose Rent-Trip for car rental worldwide
A self-drive booking with Rent-Trip is built around one idea: you land, we hand over the keys, and you drive yourself.
What the fleet gives you to work with
- 18 classes, one page: Economy through to Exotic, with Crossovers, Premium, Electric, Minivans, Pickup trucks and Convertibles in between.
- 1471 cars, 1145 of them automatic: seat counts run from 2 to 15, so a couple, a family of five and a group of twelve all book from the same list.
- One booking channel: a request on WhatsApp or by phone, confirmed by a manager — there is no online checkout form to fill in.
Eight markets, eight sets of rules we already know
On Phuket the car is right-hand drive, traffic keeps to the left, a foreign visitor needs a home licence plus an International Driving Permit, and the compulsory motor insurance attached to every registered car covers injury to third parties. In Florida a valid home licence is enough to rent and drive — an IDP is not required by state law, though a translation helps if your licence is not in English. In the UAE, residents show an Emirates ID and local licence, while tourists bring a passport, entry stamp and home licence.
Terms that keep the trip simple
- Rental from one day: on Phuket and in Florida 24 hours is a valid booking, and weekly and monthly rates are lower per day than the daily rate — weekly is daily x 6, monthly is daily x 21.
