The car is supplied clean and with a full tank, and it must be returned with a full tank — full-to-full, or lleno-lleno as the Spanish paperwork puts it. No other fuel option is offered. Missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are then charged as set out in the rental agreement, so the tank is worth checking before you hand the car back. Everything else is agreed before you sign, and it is worth reading those lines first.

Those multipliers are fixed, so a week in the cheapest Economy car at €13 a day comes to €78 and a month to €273 — the same arithmetic scales up through the range, and you can work out the budget for any class before you commit.

The €13–€34 band covers everything on this page — no class sits outside it, and 16 of the 24 cars are Economy, so the cheapest end of the range is also the deepest. Electric starts at €22, which is worth weighing against the ZBE València access rules if your plans include the centre. Crossover tops out at €34 for the Jeep Avenger and Jeep Renegade, and the single Convertible, a Fiat 500C, sits at €30 a day.

What we agree with you before the booking is fixed

The deposit, the excess, any delivery fee and any discount are set out in the rental agreement, so read them before you sign rather than after you return the car. The same applies to the minimum rental age, the young-driver surcharge and which cards are accepted: we agree those when booking, because they are not fixed by Spanish law. If your plans move, tell the manager before the delivery time — a car already on its way to an address is the one case where a change costs everybody time.

What to have ready on the day

• Driving licence: an EU or EEA licence is valid in Spain while it has not expired. A licence from outside the EU or EEA is valid if it is in force and the holder meets the Spanish age requirement for that category; it stops being valid six months after the holder takes up ordinary residence in Spain. The DGT advises getting an International Driving Permit before the trip, though it is not required for EU or EEA licences.
• Licence language: if your licence is not in Spanish, it is valid either with an official certified translation or if it was issued on the model of Annex 9 of the Geneva Convention or Annex 6 of the Vienna Convention. For Cyrillic, Arabic or character-based scripts that in practice means an IDP or a certified translation.
• Fuel: the car comes with a full tank and goes back with a full tank — in Spain this is called lleno-lleno. Any other fuel option is not offered on this site.
• Parking: blue-zone parking in the centre and the ensanches costs €1.00 for 60 minutes and €1.70 for 120 minutes, with a two-hour maximum, Monday to Saturday in two windows, 09:00–14:00 and 16:00–20:00.

One thing worth doing on the first day: check the fuel gauge and the tank level against the agreement before you drive off, and keep the receipt from your last refuelling stop — a full tank on the gauge is what closes the booking without a refuelling fee.

What to bring for daily car rental in Valencia

• Driving licence: an EU/EEA licence is valid in Spain until it expires, with no extra document needed. A licence from outside the EU/EEA is valid if it is in force and the holder is old enough for the equivalent category.
• Licence not in Spanish: valid either with an official certified translation into Spanish, or if it was issued on the Annex 9 Geneva or Annex 6 Vienna model. An International Driving Permit is the practical alternative to a translation.
• International Driving Permit: a supplementary document only — it is shown together with your passport and your national licence, and it is valid for one year.
• Bank card: which cards are accepted for the deposit is agreed when booking — a company condition, not a rule of law.

The minimum age and driving experience, and any young-driver surcharge, are agreed when booking — Spain sets 18 as the age to drive a category B car, but hire conditions are a matter for the company.

Rules that shape a day of driving in Valencia

Speed limits are 120 km/h on autopista and autovía, 90 km/h on an ordinary country road, 50 km/h in town where there are two or more lanes each way, 30 km/h where there is one lane each way, and 20 km/h on a street where road and pavement form a single platform. Driving in Spain is on the right, and every car in our fleet is left-hand drive.

The alcohol limit is 0.25 mg/l of breath for most drivers and 0.15 mg/l for drivers in their first two years and for professionals; above 0.60 mg/l it becomes a criminal offence. Holding a phone while driving costs 200 EUR and six points, and a seat belt or child seat offence costs 200 EUR and four points. Child seats are compulsory for children under 135 cm tall.

Fines are graded leve, grave and muy grave, and there is a 50% discount if you pay within 20 calendar days. For a hired car, responsibility for parking and toll offences falls on the owner or the renter, while moving offences, alcohol and drugs fall on whoever was at the wheel.

Insurance and what the rental agreement covers

Every car we hand over carries Seguro Obligatorio de Responsabilidad Civil — Spain's compulsory third-party cover. It is included in any hire by law and applies at all times, even if the person driving was not named in the agreement. The cover protects third parties, not the driver and not the car itself. Statutory limits are 70,000,000 EUR per incident for personal injury, however many people are hurt, and 15,000,000 EUR per incident for property damage, under Real Decreto Legislativo 8/2004, article 4.2 as amended by Ley 5/2025, in force since 26.07.2025.

Beyond the compulsory layer, the options below decide how much of the car's own damage stays with you. The franchise — franquicia in the Spanish paperwork — is the amount you pay yourself when the car comes back damaged; it is printed in the contract whether or not you buy a waiver. Specific sums depend on the operator and the vehicle class, and there is no single official standard for them.

• CDW (Collision Damage Waiver): removes your liability for damage to the car in a collision with another vehicle or an object, except the excess. Vandalism is excluded unless it happened while the car was in use.
• THW (Theft Protection): covers total or partial theft and vandalism damage, again minus the excess.

The deposit is held against possible damage and extras.

Two things are worth doing at hand-over. Spanish consumer rules require that every scratch and dent be written into the contract or the inspection sheet before you drive away, with both sides signing and a copy left with you — otherwise the damage comes back to you. And if the model you booked is not available, you are entitled to another car at no extra cost, even a class above; if you are given a lower class, the price should drop, and if the car does not match the agreed terms you can cancel and recover any prepayment.

Daily car rental in Valencia for driving and parking

Outside built-up areas the limit is 120 km/h on autopista and autovía and 90 km/h on a conventional road. Inside the city, a street with a single platform for carriageway and pavement is 20 km/h, one lane in each direction is 30 km/h, and two or more lanes in one direction is 50 km/h. Bus and taxi lanes do not count as lanes when you work out which limit applies. The V-21 access road and the V-30 urban ring carry fixed speed cameras, so the limit on those two is worth checking before you put your foot down.

Parking needs planning. The regulated zones are split into blue, orange and green, and the tariff depends on which one you leave the car in.

• Zona azul centro y ensanches: Ciutat Vella, L'Eixample and Extramurs — €1.00 for 60 minutes, €1.70 for 120 minutes, maximum stay 2 hours.
• Zona azul resto ciudad: €0.80 for 60 minutes, €1.50 for 120 minutes, same 2-hour cap.
• Zona naranja: mixed resident and rotation zone — €2.10 for 60 minutes, €3.30 for 120 minutes for non-residents.
• Zona verde: residents with a permit only; a 12-month resident tariff is €86.20, charged proportionally by month.

Blue-zone hours run Monday to Saturday, 09:00–14:00 and 16:00–20:00. In the orange zone the non-resident hours depend on the district: Ciutat Vella Monday to Friday 9:00–20:00, while Ruzafa, El Botànic and La Roqueta run 9:00–19:00; Saturday is 9:00–15:00 everywhere. Outside those windows the orange zone is residents only.

Gasolina 95 E5 averages €1.978 a litre across 62 stations in the municipality, with a median of €2.039 and a low of €1.74.

The one restriction that genuinely shapes a daily hire is the ZBE València low-emission zone, 27.8 km² bounded by Ronda Nord, the avenidas de Tarongers and Serradora, and Bulevard Sud. In the first stage, running 01.12.2025–31.12.2026, it restricts only category A cars — petrol registered before 2001 and diesel before 2006 — that are registered outside the province of Valencia. Rental cars carrying a DGT sticker (B, C, ECO or 0) fall outside the restriction, since only category A is targeted. Our cars are delivered with a full tank and are returned full, so a day's driving needs no fuel arithmetic beyond topping up before hand-back.

Day trips and longer bookings on daily rental

Day trips out of the city are a good reason to take a car for more than a single day. The AP-7 (Autopista del Mediterráneo) between Salou and Alicante has been toll-free since 01.01.2020 — 373.8 km released from the Aumar concession — so Dénia, Calp, Benidorm and Peñíscola are reachable without a péage. Albufera, El Saler, Sagunto, Xàtiva, Cullera, Gandia and the Requena and Utiel wine country sit well inside a day's round trip. What a longer booking changes

• Weekly rate: from €78, calculated as the daily rate × 6 — the multiplier is fixed, so you can budget before you return the car.
• Monthly rate: from €273, calculated as the daily rate × 21.
• Class choice: Economy from €13, Electric from €22, Crossover from €33 and the single Convertible at €30 — on a long booking the gap between classes compounds.
• Fuel: the car is supplied with a full tank and returned with a full tank (lleno-lleno); the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the rental agreement.

Electric and the city zone

Electric is the class to think about twice if your days mix the centre with the coast. ZBE València (Zona de Bajas Emisiones) covers 27.8 km² inside Ronda Nord, the avenidas de Tarongers and Serradora, and Bulevard Sud, with staged enforcement running to 2028; cars carrying a DGT sticker (B, C, ECO or 0) fall outside the restriction, which targets category A only. The Fiat 500e at €22, the Peugeot e-208 at €24, the Renault 5 E-Tech at €25 and the Nissan Leaf at €30 all sit in that bracket. The practical question is the charging window: on a multi-day hire, plan where the car sleeps before you plan the day's driving.

Crossovers for the out-of-town days

Three crossovers cover the longer runs: the Kia Stonic and the Jeep Avenger, both Petrol and Manual at €33 and €34, and the Jeep Renegade — Hybrid, Automatic, 130 hp — at €34. The Renegade suits mixed itineraries, where a day in the city is followed by a run to Cullera or Gandia and the driver would rather not work a clutch in traffic.

If your plans run past a week, ask the manager to price the whole stretch as one booking rather than a string of separate days — the weekly and monthly multipliers only apply when the hire is booked as a single period.
