Motorcycles in Istanbul: Day Rates, Classes and Licence Rules
Motorcycle rental in Istanbul starts from ₺3,050 a day for a 125 cc Honda CB125R and reaches ₺17,300 a day for the big BMW GS models and the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S. The middle of the 16 models on this page sits at ₺7,150. Below: how daily, weekly and monthly hire works, what each class of bike costs, which licence and age each model asks for, and why two quotes for the same bike can be far apart.
How bike hire is priced: day, week or month
Motorcycles in the city are rented for self-riding — you take the bike and ride it yourself — and the basic unit is the day. Weekly and monthly hire is also offered on the market, but those rates are quoted on request for your dates rather than shown as a fixed price.
The day rate is a starting price
Every price on this page is a "from" figure per day, without dates. The cheapest model, the Honda CB125R ABS, starts at ₺3,050; the most expensive group — four 1,200–1,300 cc adventure bikes — starts at ₺17,300. A request with your exact dates can come back higher or lower than the starting figure, so treat the table in the next section as a map of the market, not as a final bill. The prices were converted into Turkish lira from euro quotes at the end of September 2026 and rounded to the nearest ₺50, so a quote you receive in euros will look different on paper while describing the same cost.
Why one model can carry two very different prices
The same model is often offered by more than one rental company, and they do not price it the same way. The Yamaha YZF-R25 ABS starts at ₺3,100 a day in one offer and is quoted at about ₺5,100 in another — roughly 1.6 times more for the same 250 cc sport bike. The gap is wider higher up: the Honda NC 750 X starts at ₺5,600, while another quote for the same model reaches about ₺11,550, a little over double. In my view, the honest way to rent a motorcycle in Istanbul is to compare like with like: the same model, the same dates and the same pickup point. Once those three match, the difference that is left is the real difference in price.
Where the bikes are handed over
The offers on this page are tied to two pickup areas named by the rental companies: Kuyubaşı and Ümraniye, both on the Asian side of the city. If you are staying on the European side — in Sultanahmet, Beyoğlu or Beşiktaş — plan the crossing to the pickup point into your first day, and ask whether delivery to your hotel is possible before you count on it. A bike for a tour of Turkey is usually collected once and returned at the end, so the pickup point matters less on a long rental than on a single day in town.
What is usually in the price
Basic third-party insurance is standard in motorcycle hire offers here. That covers damage you cause to others, not damage to the bike you are riding. Anything beyond third-party cover — a lower deposit, a reduced excess, a second helmet, luggage — is a separate line in the offer, and it is worth asking for each of them in writing before you confirm.
Day rates from ₺3,050 to ₺17,300
The Rent-Trip section brings together 16 motorcycle models from five makers: six from BMW, five from Honda, three from Yamaha, one from Suzuki and one from KTM. Five of them are light bikes of 125 to 250 cc, four are mid-size tourers and crossovers, and the rest are large adventure machines.
| Model | Class | Engine | From, per day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Honda CB125R ABS | Naked | 125 cc | ₺3,050 |
| Yamaha YZF-R25 ABS | Sport | 250 cc | ₺3,100 |
| Honda CBF 150 | Naked | 150 cc | ₺3,150 |
| Yamaha MT-25 ABS | Naked | 249 cc | ₺3,250 |
| Suzuki GSX 250 R | Sport | 250 cc | ₺4,600 |
| Honda NC 750 X | Crossover / tourer | 745 cc | ₺5,600 |
| Yamaha Tracer 700 | Sport tourer | 655 cc | ₺6,000 |
| Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin | Adventure | 1,100 cc | ₺6,500 |
| Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin | Adventure | 998 cc | ₺7,800 |
| BMW F 800 GS Adventure | Adventure | 798 cc | ₺7,800 |
| BMW F 800 GS | Adventure | 800 cc | ₺11,500 |
| BMW R 1250 GS Adventure | Adventure | 1,250 cc | ₺12,200 |
| BMW R 1250 GS | Adventure | 1,250 cc | ₺17,300 |
| BMW R 1200 GS Rallye | Adventure | 1,200 cc | ₺17,300 |
| BMW R 1200 GS Adventure | Adventure | 1,200 cc | ₺17,300 |
| KTM 1290 Super Adventure S | Adventure | 1,301 cc | ₺17,300 |
Three price bands
The table falls into three clear bands. The light bikes cost ₺3,050 to ₺4,600 a day, and four of the five start within ₺200 of each other. The mid-size tourers and the two Honda Africa Twins sit between ₺5,600 and ₺7,800. The BMW and KTM adventure bikes start at ₺7,800 and climb to ₺17,300. The top of the range costs about 5.7 times the bottom, so the class of bike decides the budget far more than any discount on the day rate.
Engine size is a rough guide, not a rule
Bigger engines generally cost more, but not in a straight line. The 1,100 cc CRF1100L Africa Twin starts at ₺6,500, below the 998 cc CRF1000L at ₺7,800. The BMW F 800 GS Adventure, at ₺7,800, starts lower than the plain F 800 GS at ₺11,500. These gaps come from different rental companies pricing different bikes, so it pays to look at the specific model and offer instead of assuming that the newer or larger name is always the dearer one.
What a week costs at the day rate
Seven days at the starting day rate add up to ₺21,350 on the CB125R, ₺39,200 on the NC 750 X and ₺121,100 on any of the ₺17,300 adventure bikes. These are simple multiplications. Weekly and monthly offers are priced separately, so ask for a quote for the full period rather than multiplying the day rate yourself.
125–250 cc bikes for city streets
Five light bikes cover short trips, commuting and a first ride in a busy city: the Honda CB125R ABS, the Honda CBF 150, the Yamaha YZF-R25 ABS, the Yamaha MT-25 ABS and the Suzuki GSX 250 R. All of them have manual gearboxes, which separates them from the automatic scooters in the neighbouring section.
Honda CB125R ABS and CBF 150
The CB125R is the entry point at ₺3,050 a day. Its 125 cc engine makes 9.8 kW at 10,000 rpm, it has a six-speed manual gearbox, a 10.1-litre tank and ABS. It is also the only model in the list where an A1 licence is enough — the others ask for a full A licence — and the minimum age stated for it is 18. The CBF 150, a 150 cc naked bike, starts at ₺3,150, just ₺100 more. Both suit a rider who wants something light to filter through traffic and park easily, and both are the logical choice for someone whose licence covers small motorcycles only.
Yamaha YZF-R25 ABS and MT-25 ABS
The two Yamahas are the faired and the naked take on the same 250 cc class. The YZF-R25 ABS is the faired sport version, rated at 26.4 kW (35.9 PS) at 12,000 rpm, and starts at ₺3,100. The MT-25 ABS is the naked version with a 249 cc engine and a stated fuel consumption of 3.7 litres per 100 km, from ₺3,250. Both require a full A licence and a minimum age of 20. They are the strongest bikes in the light band and the ones I would point a confident rider towards for a day that mixes city streets with a run along the coast roads.
Suzuki GSX 250 R
The GSX 250 R is a 250 cc sport bike that starts at ₺4,600, the highest price in the light band and about ₺1,500 more than the R25. Engine size is the same, so the difference is the offer rather than the class. If the Suzuki is the only 250 available for your dates, it is a fair pick; if both are free, compare the two directly.
Who the light band suits
A 125–250 cc motorcycle is the cheapest way to get around on two wheels with a gearbox, and the daily price stays under ₺5,000 across all five models. For two-up riding or a long day on the motorway, the mid-size tourers in the next section give more power and comfort; for one rider in town, the light bikes are enough.
Mid-size tourers: NC 750 X, Tracer 700 and two Africa Twins
Between the light bikes and the BMW adventure models sit four Honda and Yamaha machines that suit a trip out of the city — to the Black Sea coast, Thrace or further into Anatolia — without paying the top rate.
| Model | Engine | Power | Tank | Min. age | From, per day |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Honda NC 750 X | 745 cc | 54 hp (40.3 kW) | 14.1 L | 22 | ₺5,600 |
| Yamaha Tracer 700 | 655 cc | 52 hp | 17 L | 23 | ₺6,000 |
| Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin | 1,100 cc | — | — | 22 | ₺6,500 |
| Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin | 998 cc | 95 hp (70 kW) | 18.8 L | 23 | ₺7,800 |
Honda NC 750 X
The NC 750 X is the most affordable bike above 250 cc at ₺5,600 a day. Its 745 cc engine makes 54 hp, the tank holds 14.1 litres and the stated range is 400 km. It is also offered in a DCT version with Honda's automatic dual-clutch gearbox, which is worth asking for if you would rather not work a clutch in stop-start traffic. The minimum age stated for it is 22. Quotes for this model range up to about ₺11,550 a day, the widest spread in the list, so check more than one offer.
Yamaha Tracer 700
The Tracer 700 is a sport tourer with a 655 cc, 52 hp engine, a weight of 196 kg and a 17-litre tank, starting at ₺6,000. The minimum age is 23. It is lighter than the adventure bikes and has a bigger tank than the NC 750 X, which makes it a sensible choice for a rider covering long distances alone. As with the Honda, other quotes for it reach about ₺11,550.
Honda Africa Twin: CRF1000L and CRF1100L
Two generations of the Africa Twin are on offer. The CRF1000L has a 998 cc engine rated at 95 hp, an 18.8-litre tank and a stated range of 400 km; it starts at ₺7,800 and asks for a minimum age of 23. The newer CRF1100L, with a 1,100 cc engine, starts lower at ₺6,500 with a minimum age of 22, though other quotes for it go up to about ₺14,400. Both are available in DCT versions as well. For a rider who wants a large adventure bike without paying BMW prices, the CRF1100L is the cheapest litre-class option in this section.
BMW GS and KTM at the top of the range
Seven of the 16 models are large European adventure bikes: six BMW GS variants and the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S. They are the bikes most often chosen for a multi-day tour of Turkey that starts in the city, and they cost the most.
BMW F 800 GS and F 800 GS Adventure
The middle-weight GS pair is the cheapest way into the BMW range. The F 800 GS Adventure has a 798 cc engine rated at 85 hp and a 16-litre tank, and starts at ₺7,800 with a minimum age of 23. The plain F 800 GS, an 800 cc model, starts at ₺11,500 — higher than the Adventure version, which is the reverse of what the names suggest. If BMW GS rental in Istanbul is what you are after on a budget, the F 800 GS Adventure at ₺7,800 is the entry point and costs the same as the Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin.
BMW R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure
The R 1250 GS Adventure has a 1,250 cc engine rated at 125 hp and a 20-litre tank — the largest tank in the list. It starts at ₺12,200 a day, with a minimum age of 23, and other quotes for it reach ₺17,300. The standard R 1250 GS starts at ₺17,300.
BMW R 1200 GS Rallye, R 1200 GS Adventure and KTM 1290 Super Adventure S
Four models share the top price of ₺17,300 a day: the R 1250 GS, the R 1200 GS Rallye, the R 1200 GS Adventure and the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S. The KTM has the largest engine in the list at 1,301 cc. At this level the choice comes down to preference — the BMW or the KTM, the Rallye or the Adventure version, the bike you already know — rather than price.
Is the top band worth it?
A ₺17,300 bike costs about 2.2 times as much as the Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin or the BMW F 800 GS Adventure at ₺7,800, both of which are full adventure bikes with large tanks. For paved roads and a moderate pace, the mid-priced bikes do the same job. The big GS and KTM machines make sense for long days with a passenger and luggage, or for a rider who already knows and wants that particular bike.
Licence, age, deposit and documents
Every bike in this section is ridden by you, so the rental company checks your documents at pickup. The basic set is the same everywhere; the details change by model.
Licence category
For motorbike rental in Istanbul you need a valid motorcycle-class licence: A1, A2 or A, depending on the bike. A car licence alone does not cover a motorcycle. Among the models where the licence is stated, eight ask for a full A licence and one — the Honda CB125R ABS — accepts A1 or A. An International Driving Permit is recommended alongside your national licence. Carry your passport as well; it is part of the standard document set.
Minimum age and riding experience
The minimum age is 18 to 21 for 125 cc models and higher for larger bikes. Some offers also ask for one to two years of riding experience. The ages stated per model are:
| Minimum age | Models |
|---|---|
| 18 | Honda CB125R ABS |
| 20 | Yamaha YZF-R25 ABS, Yamaha MT-25 ABS |
| 22 | Honda NC 750 X, Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin |
| 23 | Yamaha Tracer 700, Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin, BMW F 800 GS Adventure, BMW R 1250 GS Adventure |
For the remaining models the age is not stated in the offer, so confirm it with your request — a rider of 21 should not assume a 1,200 cc BMW is available to them.
Deposit
A security deposit is taken at pickup. The figure commonly quoted for scooters is about €200, roughly ₺11,150 at the end-of-September rate. For a motorcycle, and especially for a large adventure bike, ask for the exact deposit amount and how it is held — card block or cash — before you confirm, because it ties up money for the whole rental.
Insurance
Basic third-party insurance is standard. It does not pay for damage to the bike itself, which is why the deposit exists. If you want lower liability for the bike, ask what extra cover the offer includes and what excess remains.
Key points before you book
Six figures to keep in mind
- Day rate: the 16 models start between ₺3,050 and ₺17,300 a day, with the middle at ₺7,150.
- Light bikes: five models of 125–250 cc start from ₺3,050 to ₺4,600; only the CB125R accepts an A1 licence.
- Mid-size tourers: the NC 750 X, Tracer 700 and both Africa Twins start between ₺5,600 and ₺7,800.
- Adventure bikes: the BMW GS range and the KTM start from ₺7,800 to ₺17,300; four models share the top rate.
- Same model, different price: quotes for one model can differ by up to about 2.2 times, so compare the same bike, dates and pickup point.
- Requirements: a motorcycle-class licence, passport, a deposit, an age of 18 to 23 depending on the bike, and an International Driving Permit is recommended.
How to send a request that gets a usable quote
Name the model, your exact dates, the pickup area and whether you need weekly or monthly terms. Add your age, licence category and years of riding — those decide which bikes you can take. Ask for the deposit, the insurance level and any extras in the same message. A quote that answers all of that can be compared with another one line by line; a single daily figure cannot. With those details settled, motorcycle rental in Istanbul comes down to choosing the class of bike that fits the trip.
