The ring road around the island runs 51 km and links the lowland and the coast, which means Nathon, Lipa Noi, Lamai, Chaweng, Bophut and Maenam all sit on one continuous loop.
The surface itself asks for attention.
- Alcohol: the limit is 50 mg% in blood; 20 mg% applies to drivers under 20 and to holders of temporary licences, and refusing a test counts as admitting the offence.
- Child seats: children under six ride in a TISI-standard child seat; the fine is up to ฿2,000.
- Seat belts: every passenger buckles up, including those in the back row.
- Kerbside parking: red-and-white and yellow-and-white kerbs are no-parking zones.

Fuel is straightforward: stations on the island sell E20, 91 and 95, most take cash only, and cards are accepted at few of them. The Xpander and both economy models run on petrol, while the Triton and Pajero Sport take diesel. Rain shapes the year here — October to December is the wettest stretch, with November alone averaging 444.6 mm, and flooded sections of road are a real risk in those weeks. February to April is the dry window, and July and August stay busy without the monsoon.

How the confirmation works
Once the dates and the model are agreed, we tell you the daily rate and what the same booking costs weekly or monthly — weekly is charged as the daily rate multiplied by six, monthly as the daily rate multiplied by twenty-one, so a longer booking lowers the per-day figure.
