Campervans and Motorhomes from Istanbul: Daily Rates, Berths and Minimum Days

Fleet Manager
Published Updated

Campervan rental in Istanbul starts from ₺6,098 a day for a 2014 Fiat Ducato camper, and the middle of 12 models sits at ₺8,780. Below: how minimum rental days change the total, how many people each camper sleeps and seats, what is on board, manual versus automatic, and where the vans are collected.

Daily rate times minimum days: the real price of a camper

Every camper in this section is priced by the day, but almost none of them can be booked for a single day. The minimum rental is the second number that decides what you pay, and it varies more than the daily rate itself.

Why the daily rate alone misleads

The Rent-Trip section on this page brings together 12 campervan and motorhome models offered for collection in Istanbul. Their daily rates sit within a fairly narrow band — the most expensive is about 1.8 times the cheapest — while the minimum rental runs from 1 day to 7 days. That means two vans with almost the same daily rate can differ by a factor of more than two at the shortest possible booking. In my view, the honest way to compare campervans is to look first at the minimum days, then at the total for your own trip length, and only after that at the daily figure.

The shortest possible booking, model by model

Multiplying each daily rate by its minimum days gives the smallest amount a booking can cost. The cheapest entry point is not the cheapest van per day but the one with a short minimum and a low rate.

ModelFrom, per dayMinimum daysShortest booking
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2020₺9,4511₺9,451
Fiat Ducato Camper 2014₺6,0983₺18,293
Adria Compact 2015₺7,3173₺21,951
Iveco Daily Camper 2020₺7,6223₺22,866
Peugeot Boxer 2020₺8,7803₺26,341
Citroën Jumper 2020₺8,7803₺26,341
Volkswagen Transporter₺9,5124₺38,049
Fiat Ducato Camper 2020₺8,0005₺40,000
Iveco Daily Camper 7.7 m₺10,9765₺54,878
Citroën Jumper 2023₺9,7567₺68,293
Citroën Jumper 2024₺9,7567₺68,293

Five of the 12 models have a 3-day minimum, which makes a long weekend the natural shortest trip. The two newest Citroën Jumpers, from 2023 and 2024, need a full week, so they only make sense for a trip of seven days or longer. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is the only model that can be taken for one day. For the Fiat Ducato 2.2 collected at Istanbul Airport, the minimum is not stated, so ask for it before comparing.

Same model, two prices

One model name does not guarantee one price. The 2014 Fiat Ducato camper starts at ₺6,098 a day in one offer and at ₺9,146 in another, where it is described for five people with three beds — half as much again, with the same 3-day minimum. Behind such a gap there can be a different layout, more bedding, or extras included in the rate. When you see a model at an unusually low price, check that the layout and the number of beds match the van you actually want, not only the badge on the bonnet.

From ₺6,100 to ₺11,000 a day: where each model sits

The 12 day rates run from ₺6,098 to ₺10,976, with a middle value of ₺8,780 and an average of about ₺8,537. They group into three bands that line up quite well with age and size.

The budget band: under ₺7,700 a day

Four models start below ₺7,700. The Fiat Ducato Camper 2014 is the cheapest at ₺6,098, a panel-van camper with 3 berths, 4 travel seats, a manual gearbox and a diesel engine. The Fiat Ducato 2.2 at ₺6,400 is the cheapest automatic in the list; it carries 2+2 passengers, runs on diesel and is handed over at Istanbul Airport, where a delivery fee applies, and its daily price already includes VAT. The Adria Compact 2015 at ₺7,317 is a semi-integrated motorhome with 4 berths and 4 seats. The Iveco Daily Camper 2020 at ₺7,622 has an automatic gearbox and a 3-day minimum. Over a full week these four cost between about ₺42,700 and ₺53,400.

The middle band: ₺8,000 to ₺9,000 a day

Three models fall here. The Fiat Ducato Camper 2020 starts at ₺8,000 and is the best-equipped van in this band: 5 berths, 5 travel seats, a WC and shower and two air conditioners, with a 5-day minimum. The Peugeot Boxer 2020 and the Citroën Jumper 2020 both start at ₺8,780 with the same layout of 3 berths and 4 seats, manual gearboxes, diesel engines and a 3-day minimum; the Boxer's engine is rated at 160 hp. These two are the middle of the market, and a quote far above ₺8,780 for a three-berth 2020 panel van deserves a question about what is extra.

The upper band: above ₺9,400 a day

Five models start above ₺9,400. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2020 at ₺9,451 is an automatic luxury camper for 4. The Volkswagen Transporter alcove camper at ₺9,512 sleeps 5. The Citroën Jumper 2023 and 2024 start at ₺9,756 each, both with a 7-day minimum. At the top, the 7.7-metre Iveco Daily motorhome starts at ₺10,976 for 5 people. A week in this band costs between about ₺66,200 and ₺76,800, so the step from the budget band to the top roughly adds the price of another four days.

BudgetDucato 2014, Ducato 2.2, Adria Compact, Iveco Daily 2020₺6,098–7,622₺42,683–53,354

UpperSprinter, VW Transporter, Jumper 2023/2024, Iveco 7.7 m₺9,451–10,976₺66,159–76,829

Across the wider Istanbul market, average quotes for motorhome hire range from ₺2,500 to ₺17,500 a day. The 12 models here sit in the middle of that range, so a quote far below ₺6,000 a day is worth checking for what kind of vehicle it covers.

Berths, travel seats and how many people a camper really takes

A camper has two capacities, and they are often different: the number of people it sleeps and the number of seats with belts for driving. The smaller of the two is your real group size.

Berths and seats side by side

ModelBerthsTravel seatsFrom, per day
Fiat Ducato Camper 201434₺6,098

Fiat Ducato Camper 202055₺8,000
Iveco Daily Camper 7.7 m55₺10,976
Volkswagen Transporter52₺9,512

For the Iveco Daily 2020, the Citroën Jumper 2024 and the Fiat Ducato 2.2 the number of berths is not stated; the Ducato 2.2 takes 2+2 passengers. The most striking case is the Volkswagen Transporter: it sleeps 5 but has only 2 travel seats. That suits a couple who want space at night, or a group where some people travel separately, but it cannot carry five people on the road.

Price per berth

Dividing the daily rate by the berths shows who gets the most sleeping space for the money. The Fiat Ducato Camper 2020 comes out lowest at ₺1,600 per berth per day, followed by the Adria Compact at about ₺1,829 and the Volkswagen Transporter at about ₺1,902. The three-berth panel vans are the most expensive per bed: about ₺2,927 for the Boxer and the 2020 Jumper, and about ₺3,252 for the 2023 Jumper. For a group of four or five, a larger van is almost always cheaper per person than two small ones, and it keeps everyone together.

Families of five

Only two models in the list both sleep and seat five: the Fiat Ducato Camper 2020 and the 7.7-metre Iveco Daily. The Ducato is the cheaper of the two at ₺8,000 a day against ₺10,976, but it needs 5 days at least, and so does the Iveco. For five people on a week-long trip the difference is ₺56,000 against about ₺76,800. The Ducato's layout uses a bunk bed, which works well for children; the Iveco gives more length and room for adults.

Panel vans, alcove campers and full motorhomes

The word “campervan” covers several kinds of vehicle, and the body type decides how you live in it more than the brand does.

Panel-van campers

Most of the list — the Fiat Ducatos, the Peugeot Boxer and the Citroën Jumpers — are panel-van campers: a high-roof van converted inside, with the living area within the original body. They drive like a large van, park more easily than a motorhome and are the most common choice for couples and small families. The trade-off is space: three berths is the typical layout, and the bathroom, if there is one, is compact. Among these vans the Fiat Ducato Camper 2020 stands out with its own WC and shower and two air conditioners, which matters on summer trips in Turkey.

Alcove campers

The Volkswagen Transporter here is an alcove camper: a living box built over the chassis with a double bed above the cab. The alcove bed measures 194 by 144 cm. This layout gives the most sleeping space for the length, which is why it sleeps 5 despite having 2 travel seats. It also carries the most clearly stated water supply in the list: 150 litres of fresh water and 90 litres of grey water, enough to stay away from a hook-up for a few days if you use it carefully.

Semi-integrated and large motorhomes

The Adria Compact 2015 is a semi-integrated motorhome, where the cab opens into the living area under a lowered roof profile. It sleeps and seats 4 and starts at ₺7,317, which makes it one of the cheapest ways into a proper motorhome layout. At the other end, the Iveco Daily motorhome is 7.7 metres long and 2.3 metres wide, carries 1,800 W of solar panels and takes 5 people. Solar power keeps the fridge, lights and phone chargers running without a campsite connection, so this is the model for longer stays off the grid. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2020 sits between the classes as a luxury camper for 4 with an automatic gearbox.

What to check on board

  • Bathroom: a WC and shower are stated for the Fiat Ducato Camper 2020; for the other models ask directly.
  • Water: tank sizes are stated only for the Volkswagen Transporter — 150 litres fresh and 90 litres grey.
  • Power: 1,800 W of solar panels are stated for the 7.7-metre Iveco Daily.
  • Air conditioning: two units on the Fiat Ducato Camper 2020; the 2020 Peugeot and Citroën offers are described as air-conditioned.
  • Beds: the alcove bed size, 194 by 144 cm, is stated for the Transporter; for the others ask for the bed dimensions if anyone in your group is tall.

Manual or automatic, diesel and size on Istanbul roads

The gearbox and the size of the vehicle matter more in Istanbul than on an open road, because the first and last hours of every trip are spent in city traffic.

The gearbox split

Where the gearbox is stated, the list splits evenly. Three models are manual: the Fiat Ducato Camper 2014, the Peugeot Boxer 2020 and the Citroën Jumper 2020. Three are automatic: the Iveco Daily Camper 2020, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2020 and the Fiat Ducato 2.2. The cheapest manual starts at ₺6,098 and the cheapest automatic at ₺6,400, so choosing an automatic does not have to cost much more. If you have never driven a heavy van with a manual gearbox, the stop-and-go of Istanbul traffic and the steep streets near the Bosphorus are not the place to learn — I would book an automatic.

Size, length and parking

A panel-van camper is longer and taller than a car, but it is still manageable in the city. A 7.7-metre motorhome, 2.3 metres wide, is a different matter: in the old districts and on narrow streets it is hard to stop, turn or park. For the larger models, plan the route so that you leave the city quickly and keep city stops to places with space for a long vehicle. The panel vans and the Sprinter are the better choice if your trip begins with a few days of sightseeing in Istanbul itself.

Fuel

All models whose fuel is stated run on diesel: the Fiat Ducato Camper 2014, the Peugeot Boxer 2020, the Citroën Jumper 2020, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2020 and the Fiat Ducato 2.2. Fuel is not part of any daily rate listed here, so budget for it on any trip that leaves the city, and ask whether the van is handed over with a full tank and must be returned the same way.

Pick-up points and a request that gets a comparable quote

Where you collect the camper and what you ask before booking change the final price as much as the model does.

City pick-up or the airport

Most of the models here are collected in Istanbul itself. The Fiat Ducato 2.2 is handed over at Istanbul Airport, and a delivery fee applies on top of the ₺6,400 daily rate. For travellers landing at the airport, this saves a transfer into the city and back; for those already staying in town, a city pick-up is usually simpler. Either way, ask for the exact address and the hand-over hours before you book, and check whether returning the van at a different point is possible and at what cost.

Questions that make two quotes comparable

  • Total for your dates: the daily rate times your number of days, with the minimum rental taken into account.
  • What is included: bedding, kitchen equipment, gas, camping furniture and cleaning — or whether they are charged separately.
  • Mileage: whether the rate includes unlimited kilometres or a daily limit.
  • Fees: delivery, airport hand-over, one-way return and late return.
  • Deposit and documents: the amount, how it is held, and what the provider requires from the driver.

What to have ready

A request that names the dates, the number of people — with how many need to sleep and how many need to travel in the van — the gearbox you can drive and the pick-up point gets a precise answer instead of a ballpark figure. If the size of the bathroom, the water tanks or solar power matter for your trip, say so in the same message. With those details you can line up quotes for different models on the same basis and choose on the total, not on the headline daily rate.

Key points before you choose a camper

Five figures to keep in mind

  • Daily rate: 12 models start between ₺6,098 and ₺10,976 a day, with the middle at ₺8,780.
  • Minimum days: from 1 day on the Sprinter to 7 days on the 2023 and 2024 Jumpers; five models need 3 days.
  • Shortest booking: from ₺9,451 for a single day in the Sprinter, or ₺18,293 for three days in the 2014 Ducato.
  • Group size: only the Fiat Ducato Camper 2020 and the 7.7-metre Iveco both sleep and seat five; the VW Transporter sleeps 5 but seats 2.
  • Gearbox: three manuals and three automatics among the models where it is stated; the cheapest automatic starts at ₺6,400.

What is the minimum rental period for a camper?

It depends on the model: 1 day for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2020, 3 days for five models including the Fiat Ducato 2014, Peugeot Boxer 2020 and Adria Compact 2015, 4 days for the Volkswagen Transporter, 5 days for the Fiat Ducato 2020 and the 7.7-metre Iveco, and 7 days for the 2023 and 2024 Citroën Jumpers.

What is the cheapest way to rent a camper for a weekend?

The 2014 Fiat Ducato camper costs ₺18,293 for its 3-day minimum, the lowest total for a weekend trip. For a single day, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2020 is the only option, from ₺9,451.

How much does a campervan cost for a week?

Seven days cost from about ₺42,700 in the 2014 Fiat Ducato to about ₺76,800 in the 7.7-metre Iveco Daily. A five-berth Fiat Ducato Camper 2020 with WC and shower comes to ₺56,000 for a week.

Yes, the Fiat Ducato 2.2 is handed over at Istanbul Airport from ₺6,400 a day including VAT, with a delivery fee on top. The other models are collected in the city.

Which camper is best for staying off the grid?

Why does the same model have different prices?

A model name does not fix the layout or the extras. The 2014 Fiat Ducato camper starts at ₺6,098 a day in one offer and ₺9,146 in another set up for five people with three beds. Compare the layout, beds and what is included, not only the model.
