How to book and where we deliver

TBS sits 17 km south-east of the city, 17 km by road; KUT is 241 km away, so a Kutaisi hand-over is a different trip from a city one. Delivery outside these two airports is arranged case by case and is not promised on the site. You name the hotel or the street, pick a model, and we confirm the slot. The delivery address, the date and the time are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed — that is the whole sequence, and it is why we ask for the address before anything else. If your flight lands late, say so when you book rather than after landing.

Hand-over and the full-to-full fuel rule

The car comes clean with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank. Otherwise the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the rental agreement. No other fuel option — a pre-paid tank or full-to-empty — is offered on the site, so there is one rule to remember and no arithmetic at the end of the trip.

• Fuel level: photograph the gauge yourself at hand-over and again at return; the full-to-full rule is the only one that applies.
• Return point: the drop-off address is the one agreed with a manager when you booked, not a default office.
• Timing: build in a buffer before a departure flight — the return slot is agreed in advance, and a late arrival eats into it.

The Military Georgian Road runs 139 km from Mtskheta to the Russian border at Stepantsminda, through Zhinvali, Ananuri, Pasanauri and Gudauri, topping out at the Jvari Pass at 2,379 m. Gudauri sits at 2,200 m by the pass, usually 2–2.5 hours from the capital, with the season from early December to mid-April. Winter tyres are mandatory from 1 December to 1 March, and chains on at least two front wheels apply in government-defined zones under special weather conditions. From Freedom Square the drives measure 121 km to Gudauri, 153 km to Stepantsminda and 26 km to Mtskheta. The Jvari Pass closes when avalanche risk is high, so build a spare day into any winter itinerary rather than booking a tight return.

• Right-hand traffic: Georgia drives on the right, with 60 km/h in built-up areas and 90 km/h outside them for category B.

Georgia's international and domestic roads stay free of charge — the Roads Department confirmed on 10.06.2026 that this remains the case and no change is planned, with no vignettes or transponders. The Rikoti Pass on the east–west E60 opened on 29.12.2025: 52 km, 51 tunnels, 97 bridges and four lanes, and it is toll-free too. Fill up before Mtskheta if you are heading for the mountains.

Foreign licences are valid in Georgia for up to one year from your date of entry, and no exchange is required. Rent-Trip does not publish a deposit figure or an excess figure, and that is deliberate: both are set out in the rental agreement and confirmed when you book. What we can put in writing is the structure — what a deposit is for, what insurance covers, and which parts of hiring a Lexus here carry a cost if something goes wrong.

Georgian law does not currently require compulsory third-party cover for owners of locally registered cars, and the government has put its introduction into the autumn legislative work plan with no date attached. Theft of personal belongings is not covered by standard insurance, so a laptop left on a rear seat is your risk, not the policy's. On a $210-a-day LX570 that distinction matters more than on a compact — ask for the cover level in writing before you sign.
