Our cheapest Ford is the Fiesta — Economy class, hatchback body, 5 seats, gasoline, manual gearbox, front-wheel drive, 1.0 L and 100 hp, at €45 a day. It is the smallest thing we rent, and the only Economy car on this page. For a couple with hand luggage the Fiesta covers the boulevard périphérique and street parking in zone 1 without stress: it slots into the 6 € first-hour bays in the 1st–11th arrondissements where a wider car turns into a three-point manoeuvre. On the périphérique, now capped at 50 km/h since 1 October 2024, the 100 hp engine is never the limiting factor — traffic is. In our experience, the Fiesta gets booked out first for weekend trips, so reserve it early if your dates are fixed.

Fords for families and groups

• Five seats: the Focus at €79 a day (Comfort, hatchback, manual) or the Puma at €79 (Crossover, hybrid, manual) — the Puma adds hybrid economy, the Focus adds a 125 hp 1.0 L engine.

Electric, hybrid and automatic Fords

The Mustang Mach-E is our electric Ford at €139 a day — Crossover body, 5 seats, 88 kWh battery, 294 hp, automatic, rear-wheel drive. The Kuga and the S-Max are hybrids with automatic transmission, at €115 and €149 a day. An automatic matters in city traffic: the périphérique and the inner boulevards are stop-start, and a manual clutch wears you down faster than the engine does. The Kuga at €115 a day keeps fuel cost down on longer runs — a hybrid burns far less than the 2.414 €/litre Gazole or 2.183 €/litre SP95-E10 pump prices if you are covering distance rather than crawling. If your trip is mostly urban and you want one pedal, take the Mach-E; if it is mostly motorway to Reims or the Loire Valley, the Kuga is the calmer choice.

Daily, weekly and monthly rates

Ford car rental in Paris starts at €45 a day for the Fiesta and tops out at €450 for the Mustang coupe. Weekly rates begin at €270, which is the daily figure multiplied by 6, and monthly rates begin at €945, the daily figure multiplied by 21. Those two multipliers are the whole of our longer-booking model, and the same Ford you picked for a day is the one you keep for a month. On a long stay, a month at daily × 21 usually costs less than re-booking week by week, because each new week restarts the paperwork. Ask the manager to price your exact dates when you book.

Prices by class

The step from Comfort at €79 to SUV & 4x4 at €115 buys a 190 hp hybrid and an automatic gearbox, not simply a taller body. Electric sits at €139 for the Mustang Mach-E, and the two Commercial Fords stay the cheapest way to move cargo at €55.

Deposit, excess and payment

The deposit and the insurance excess are set out in the rental agreement and are agreed when you book — we do not quote either as a figure here. The excess is tied to the class you choose, so it moves with the car rather than with the length of the booking. Our advice from handling these bookings: settle the excess question before you settle on a model, because a Kuga and a Fiesta do not carry the same level of responsibility for the driver. Everything else — the deposit amount, any delivery fee, any discount — belongs in the same agreement, and the manager confirms it in writing when your dates are fixed.

Documents and licence rules for Ford car rental in Paris

Ford car rental in Paris runs on the same paperwork as any other hire in France, and the rules are strict enough that a licence held for eleven months will be turned down. We check the documents when the booking is agreed with a manager, so it is worth confirming them before you choose between a €45 Fiesta and a €450 Mustang.

Which licence you need

We require a licence held for over 1 year, and digital licences are not accepted. An EU/EEA licence is valid in France for its whole life — no exchange, no translation, no time limit, as long as it is current. A non-EU/EEA licence works for a tourist, but if it is not written in Latin characters you must carry an official translation or an International Driving Permit alongside it, and that IDP must be no older than 3 years. An IDP is only a translation — carry it together with your national licence, never instead of it, because on its own it proves nothing at a roadside check. Drivers who live outside the EU/EEA may drive on their national licence for 1 year from the entry date stamped in their visa; after that, residency means exchanging the licence for a French one. If your licence was issued less than a year ago, no Ford on this page can be booked to you.

Age, second driver and child seats

• Minimum age and young-driver surcharge: set out in the rental agreement, so the figure is agreed when booking and written into the rental agreement.
• conducteur supplémentaire: a second driver is arranged at booking — tell the manager who else will drive before the car is delivered.
• Child seat: required for children under 10 years old or under 135 cm, and both conditions must be met to go without one, under Code de la route R412-1.
• Fine for going without: up to €750, a contravention 4th class — the kind of charge that ruins a holiday budget faster than any upgrade.
• Fuel and mileage: the fuel policy and any mileage limit are set out in the rental agreement, so confirm them with the manager when the booking is agreed.

Alcohol, speed and the probationary licence

France treats new drivers differently, and the arithmetic is unforgiving. The general alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l of blood (0.25 mg/l of breath), but under permis probatoire — less than 3 years since the licence was issued — it drops to 0.2 g/l of blood (0.10 mg/l of breath), a threshold one glass of wine can cross. The same probationary period caps motorway speed at 110 km/h, dual carriageways at 100 km/h and ordinary roads at 80 km/h, against 130, 110 and 80 km/h for everyone else. Drink-driving at the young-driver limit costs €135, six points and a possible suspension. In town the limit is 50 km/h, and on the boulevard périphérique it has been 50 km/h since 1 October 2024, phased in from porte des Lilas to porte d'Orléans and then across the whole ring road by 10 October. In rain, motorway speed falls to 110 km/h, and below 50 m of visibility everything is capped at 50 km/h.

Crit'Air, the ZFE and driving a rented Ford in Paris

Paris restricts older vehicles inside the A86 ring, and a rented Ford is no exception. The ZFE de la Métropole du Grand Paris (Zone à Faibles Émissions) covers everything within the A86 motorway — the A86 itself is excluded — including the boulevard périphérique and the Bois de Boulogne and Bois de Vincennes. Crit'Air 5, 4, 3 and «Non classé» vehicles are banned from that perimeter, and the sticker goes on the windscreen. Which Fords clear the ZFE

• Ford Mustang Mach-E: Electric, zero tailpipe emissions, the simplest answer to the ZFE — €139 a day, 294 hp, automatic.
• Ford Puma and Ford Kuga: Hybrid petrol, both well inside the permitted classes — €79 and €115 a day.
• Ford S-Max: Hybrid, 7 seats, automatic, €149 a day, and it clears the zone without a second thought.
• Ford Fiesta, Focus, Transit Connect, Transit and Grand C-Max: Diesel and gasoline, current enough to sit in the allowed classes.
• Ford Mustang and Mustang Convertible: 5.0 L V8, €450 and €199 a day, still compliant as registered.

Driving rules that catch out visitors

• Speed in town: 50 km/h under Code de la route, art. R413-3, raised to 70 km/h on some stretches.
• Boulevard périphérique: 50 km/h since 1 October 2024 by decision of the Paris city hall, though the Code de la route allows up to 70 km/h there.
• Carpool lane: the left lane between Issy and Porte de Bercy, Monday to Friday 7:00–10:30 and 16:00–20:00, for cars with 2+ occupants; a 135 € fine applies, issued since 2 May 2025.
• Alcohol: 0.5 g/l of blood (0.25 mg/l of breath), and 0.2 g/l (0.10 mg/l) for drivers with less than 3 years since passing.
• Child seats: required for children under 10 OR shorter than 135 cm — both conditions must be met to go without one, Code de la route, R412-1 and following.

In our experience the carpool lane is the one that surprises people most: a single driver in the left lane on a weekday morning is a 135 € contravention, not a warning. If your route out of the city runs along the Seine, stay in the middle lanes until you are past Porte de Bercy. Winter tyres are not required around the capital — the loi Montagne II rule covers roughly 34 mountain departments from 1 November to 31 March, so it only matters if your trip heads for the Alps.

We hand the Ford over at the address you give us, and the manager agrees the exact spot when the booking is confirmed. Guests arriving at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, Paris-Orly Airport or Paris-Beauvais Airport often ask for the car at their hotel instead, once they have dropped their bags — that way nobody waits on a kerbside with luggage. If you are staying near Gare du Nord, Gare de Lyon or Gare Montparnasse, say so at booking: a station-side meeting is easier to arrange than a search through the surrounding streets. The same applies to a flat in Montmartre or Le Marais, where parking is tight and a precise meeting point saves a lap of the block.

Matching the Ford to the hand-over

A Ford Fiesta at €45 a day is the simplest car to place on a Paris street: 5 seats, gasoline, manual, and short enough for zone 1 parking bays. The Transit Connect at €55 and the Transit at €79 are panel vans with 2 and 3 seats — useful if you are moving luggage or equipment, but check the height barriers on underground car parks before you accept one. Families usually take the Grand C-Max at €119 or the S-Max at €149, both 7 seats, while the Tourneo Custom at €165 carries 9. The Mustang Mach-E at €139 arrives automatic and electric, which suits anyone who would rather not work a manual in traffic. In our experience, the car that gets handed over most smoothly is the one whose size matches the parking you actually have — tell the manager where the car will sleep at night, not just where you want to collect it, and the delivery goes without a second call.

If your plans move

Tell the manager as early as you can if your arrival time changes — the delivery window is agreed with you, not fixed by us. Bringing the car back to a different point is a one-way booking and has to be arranged at the booking stage, not on the day. The child seat rule catches people out here: it is required for children under 10 or under 135 cm, and both conditions have to be met before one can be left out, so mention the ages when you book and we will have the seat in the car.

Trips out of Paris in a rental Ford

A Ford on French plates is the easiest way out of the city: the motorway network starts at the périphérique, and a full tank on collection means you leave with the fuel policy already settled. Longer runs are where the model choice pays off — a hybrid Kuga or S-Max at €115 and €149 a day keeps consumption down on the autoroute, while the Grand C-Max at €119 carries seven with luggage for a week away. We hand the car over with a full tank and ask for it back the same way under the plein-plein policy.

The routes our customers actually drive

• Disneyland Paris: 32 km east on the A4, roughly 40 minutes outside rush hour; the Grand C-Max or S-Max takes a family of seven in one car rather than two.
• Versailles: 20 km south-west on the A13, the shortest day trip from the city; a Fiesta at €45 covers two people with no parking trouble in the town.
• Giverny: around 75 km north-west via the A13 and D913, a comfortable half-day in a Focus or Puma at €79.
• Reims and Champagne: 145 km north-east on the A4, the longest comfortable single-day run; the hybrid Kuga at €115 returns better consumption than a gasoline-only car.
• Deauville and the Normandy coast: roughly 200 km west on the A13 and A14, better as an overnight trip; the S-Max carries four adults and a week of bags.
• Mont-Saint-Michel: about 360 km west, a two-day run; the Kuga or S-Max with automatic transmission is the easier choice for that distance.
• Loire Valley châteaux: south-west, a long day depending on which château you start with; the Mustang Mach-E at €139 covers the run on electric power with a charging stop en route.

Tolls, fuel and the Crit'Air sticker

Toll charges are not included in the rate and are paid at the barrier or through the flux libre system, where the A13 and A14 take payment within 72 hours of the crossing. Fuel is on you, and the plein-plein policy means the car goes out full and comes back full — diesel sat at around €2.44 a litre in the département and €2.414 nationally at the last reading, with SP95-E10 at €2.183, so a 400 km run in the Fiesta costs noticeably less than the same trip in the Mustang. The Crit'Air vignette stays on the windscreen for the whole hire, so a car collected in the city can leave it and come back without a second thought. In our experience the Reims and Loire runs are the two where customers most often under-budget the tolls — check the route before you set off, not at the barrier.

Winter and mountain rules

Winter tyres are compulsory from 1 November to 31 March in around 34 mountain départements — the Alps, the Pyrenees, the Massif Central, the Jura, the Vosges and Corsica — across more than 4000 communes, where you need either four winter tyres or chains and socks on two driven wheels. Paris and Île-de-France are not covered by that rule, so it does not apply to a car collected here, but it does apply the moment a trip heads for the Alps. Driving without them there carries a €135 fine and the vehicle can be immobilised. If a ski run is on your plan, tell the manager when you book so the car and the equipment question are settled before collection.

Parking and running costs for Ford car rental in Paris

Fuel, parking and tolls are the three running costs that decide what a day behind the wheel of a Ford actually ends up costing — not the rate you see on the page. Here is what those three look like in the city and what our customers ask about most often.

Fuel: what a tank costs

Gazole sat at €2.44 a litre in the Paris department and €2.414 across France on the last reading of the API data.economie.gouv.fr instant feed; SP95-E10, the standard petrol, stood at €2.183 nationally. Our Fords run on four fuels — Gasoline, Diesel, Hybrid and Electric — so the choice moves your fuel bill before you ever leave the car park. A Ford Fiesta at €45 a day with its 1.0 L engine and a Ford Focus with the same displacement at €79 a day both take petrol; the diesel Transit Connect and Tourneo Custom cost more per litre but return less consumption per kilometre. Every booking runs on the plein-plein policy: you collect the car with a full tank and bring it back full. We hand the car over with a full tank and ask for the same on return — the difference is settled at the rate in the rental agreement.

Parking in the city

• Zone 1 street parking (arrondissements 1–11): the tariff is progressive, not hourly — 1 hour €6, 2 hours €12, 3 hours €24, 4 hours €39, 5 hours €57, 6 hours €75, charged in 15-minute slices under the visiteur tariff that has applied since 01.08.2021.
• Six-hour ceiling: you may stay a maximum of 6 hours in a row in one spot, then you have to move the car — plan museum or restaurant stops around that limit rather than leaving a Ford parked all day.
• Unpaid parking: the forfait post-stationnement is €75, or €50 for light vehicles, and it is a parking charge, not a road-traffic fine.
• Payment: horodateurs take cards, and the parking apps work as well — useful when you are parked away from the meter itself.
• The ZFE: the Crit'Air sticker lives on the windscreen, and inside the A86 perimeter the restricted classes are Crit'Air 5, 4, 3 and Non classé.

Tolls and longer drives

Paris streets and the boulevard périphérique carry no toll at all. The one paid tunnel inside the city is the Duplex A86, roughly 10 km between Rueil-Malmaison, Vaucresson and Vélizy, run by Cofiroute/Vinci: for class 1, Rueil to Vélizy runs €8.30–€13.70 Monday to Thursday depending on the hour, and up to €14.90 on Fridays and the eve of public holidays. Drivers with a hybrid or electric Ford should know that the ZFE perimeter sits inside the A86, and the motorway itself is excluded from that perimeter — so a route that stays on the ring does not enter the low-emission zone. If your trip continues beyond the périphérique, ask the manager when booking which charge applies to your route.
