Weekly and monthly rates

Weekly rates start at ฿6,300, and monthly rates start at ฿22,050. The arithmetic is fixed: weekly equals the daily rate multiplied by 6, and monthly equals the daily rate multiplied by 21. Take the Honda Accord at ฿1,050 a day — ฿6,300 for the week, ฿22,050 for the month. The same multipliers apply up the range, so a Mercedes-Benz C 220 d at ฿3,500 a day comes to ฿21,000 weekly and ฿73,500 monthly. For a team staying a full month, ask the manager about the monthly rate at booking — for two or three weeks the weekly rate is cheaper. A 5-seat sedan at ฿1,050 a day keeps the monthly figure at ฿22,050 per car.

Who may drive, and who may not

The minimum driver age is 21. Conditions for drivers under 25 and for premium classes are set out in the rental agreement, so a 22-year-old booking a BMW 7 Series is a conversation we have at booking, not at hand-over. Citizens of ASEAN countries drive on their national licence and do not need an IDP. Everyone else does — and an insurer may refuse a claim.

Driving legally on a corporate booking

Thailand's Low Emission Zone applies only to vehicles with six or more wheels during PM2.5 episodes, so passenger cars are outside it. Nobody should drive after drinking: the published blood-alcohol threshold is 20 mg/dl for drivers under 20, for holders of temporary licences and for drivers without a valid licence for the vehicle.

Roads, tolls and rules for corporate car rental in Bangkok

Traffic keeps to the left and every car we hand over is right-hand drive, so a driver arriving from a country that drives on the right needs the first ten minutes to reset their instincts at junctions and roundabouts. The rest of the rules below are the ones that actually cost money on a corporate hire in the Thai capital.

Speed limits and the fines behind them

• Built-up areas: 80 km/h in Bangkok, 90 km/h outside built-up areas — the limit drops where a sign says so.
• Motorways: 120 km/h on Motorway 7 and Motorway 9, 110 km/h on the expressways, 100 km/h on elevated sections.
• Camera enforcement: Motorway 7 is enforced primarily by speed cameras, and how a camera fine is handled is set out in the rental agreement.
• Alcohol: the 20 mg/dl limit applies to drivers under 20, holders of temporary licences and drivers without a licence or on the wrong category; the norm was published in the Royal Gazette on 20.09.2024.
• Songkran: over the seven dangerous days of 10–16.04.2026 the country recorded 1,242 road accidents and 242 deaths, with speed the leading cause at 40.65%.

Tolls, parking and the M-Flow question

The urban expressways — Chaloem Maha Nakhon, Si Rat and the rest — are run by EXAT, and a short passenger-car trip usually lands between ฿50 and ฿100. You pay in cash or with an Easy Pass or M-PASS tag; the two tags are interchangeable, but only one sits on a given car. Motorway 7 to Pattaya charges at nine payment points: ฿25 from Lat Krabang to Bang Bo, ฿100 to Pong, ฿105 to Pattaya. Motorway 9 uses M-Flow, which has no barrier at all — a camera reads the plate and the bill arrives later. Without a tag you have two days to pay by plate number through the M-Flow site or app, QR, bank or ATM; from the third day the tariff doubles, and a fine of ten times the tariff follows.

Mall parking is the easy part: CentralWorld gives two hours free, then ฿20 an hour, and ฿50 an hour after six; ICONSIAM gives two hours free, ฿30 for the third and ฿60 an hour after seven; Terminal 21 Asok gives three hours free, then ฿20 an hour for hours four to six and ฿50 from the seventh. Central Bangna gives six hours free, and Esplanade Ratchada, PARA Pinklao and Central Festival Eastville park you free of charge.

One thing that does not touch a hire car: the Low Emission Zone covers only vehicles with six wheels or more — trucks and buses — on high-PM2.5 days, so a sedan or SUV in our fleet is outside it. The congestion charge announced for Sukhumvit, Silom and Ratchadaphisek was never introduced and remains under study, so budget for tolls, not for a city entry fee.
