Weekly and monthly rates for longer stays
A week of daily hire starts at $180 and a month at $630 — weekly is the daily rate times six, monthly is the daily rate times twenty-one. The longer rate is calculated from the daily figure of the class you pick, so a $30 Economy week and a $69 Convertible week scale from different bases: the same multiplier applied to a higher starting figure gives a higher total. That is why the class decision matters more than the length of the booking when you are comparing what a longer stay will cost. Pick the class first, then apply the multiplier to that class's own daily price.
What the daily rate does and does not cover
- Delivery within the city: the car reaches you at the address agreed with a manager, or at TBS or KUT; delivery outside Tbilisi and the two airports is arranged case by case.
- Full-to-full fuel: the car is supplied clean with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank; otherwise the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the rental agreement.
- Deposit, excess, delivery fees and discounts: all four sit in the rental agreement, which is where the figures for your specific dates are confirmed before the booking is fixed.
Fuel is the one running cost the driver controls directly. Georgia's international and domestic roads are free of charge — the Roads Department stated on 10.06.2026 that "use of Georgia's international and domestic roads remains free of charge", with no changes planned — and street parking in the capital starts at 1 ₾ per hour after the first 15 minutes free.

Five Crossovers, three Comfort cars and two Sedans all start at the same $39 a day, which makes the choice about body and drivetrain rather than budget. All-wheel drive appears on the Kia Sportage, Chevrolet Trax, Volkswagen Tiguan, BMW X1, Mazda 3 and Ford Explorer; the rest are front-wheel drive.
For a city-only booking, a front-wheel-drive Sedan does the same job for the same money.
The Convertible and the SUV at the top of the range
The top of the daily range is the Mini Cabrio Convertible at $69 and the Ford Explorer SUV at $65, both automatic, the Cabrio with four seats and the Explorer with five. The BMW X1 Crossover also sits at $69, with 192 hp and all-wheel drive. There is exactly one Convertible on this page, so if a particular date matters to you, that is the model to reserve first — the rest of the fleet has several cars per class behind it.
Documents, deposit and the rental agreement
What you need at the wheel in Georgia is short: a passport, a driving licence and a deposit agreed when booking.
Driving licence rules for foreign visitors
A foreign licence is valid in Georgia for up to a year from your date of entry, and you do not exchange it for a local one. If your licence carries neither Latin nor Cyrillic script, bring an International Driving Permit or a notarised translation — Georgia is a party to the 1968 Vienna Convention. The order in which foreign licences are recognised and replaced is set by the Law of Georgia on Road Traffic and a ministerial order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
What the deposit and the agreement cover
- Deposit: agreed with a manager when you book; the amount is written into the rental agreement, not quoted here.
- Insurance excess: the figure that applies if the car comes back damaged; the rental agreement states it.

Theft of personal belongings is not covered by the standard policy, so keep bags out of sight when the car is parked overnight.

The car comes clean with a full tank and goes back the same way — full-to-full. If the tank is short on return, the missing fuel and a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the rental agreement. No other fuel option, such as a pre-paid tank or full-to-empty, is offered. The minimum rental age, the young-driver surcharge and the cards accepted are agreed when booking, since these are conditions of the individual rental rather than rules of the country.

Speed limits, seat belts and the fines that follow
- Built-up areas: 60 km/h, dropping to 20 km/h in residential zones.
- Outside towns: 90 km/h for a category B car, 110 km/h on motorways, 80 km/h with a light trailer.
- Seat belts: Required for the driver and all front passengers; rear belts are not compulsory by law.
- Phone: Hands-free or a headset only, both hands on the wheel.
- Alcohol: The limit is 0.3 ‰ (0.03 %).
- Fines: 50 ₾ for speeding by 15–40 km/h, 150 ₾ above that, 30 ₾ for a phone, 40 ₾ for a belt, 50 ₾ for a missed light or unpaid parking, 500 ₾ for driving without a licence. Pay within 10 days and you get 20% off.
Parking in the capital and the one mistake to avoid
Street parking in Tbilisi is zonal and paid from 1 ₾ per hour once the first 15 minutes are up, paid through the Tbilisi Parking app, kerbside terminals or parking.tbilisi.gov.ge. Underground car parks in the centre run around 2–3 ₾ an hour at Freedom Square, about 7 ₾ a day at Rike, 1–2 ₾ an hour at Orbeliani Square. A missed payment is a 50 ₾ fine, and a wrongly parked car gets towed for 150 ₾ plus 20 ₾ a day in the pound — no daily rate is worth that.
Fuel, and why we keep it simple
Georgia charges nothing for its international and domestic roads — the Road Department confirmed on 10.06.2026 that «use of Georgia's international and domestic roads remains free of charge», with no change planned — and the new Rikoti stretch, 52 km of motorway with 51 tunnels and 97 bridges, is free as well. Our cars leave with a full tank and come back full: we charge only the missing fuel and a refuelling fee, as set out in the rental agreement. Fill up before you return the car rather than pay the refuelling fee.
Day trips by daily car rental in Tbilisi
The distances below are measured from Freedom Square, so you can plan a loop without guessing. One condition matters more than the rest: the car leaves with a full tank and comes back full, so the fuel you burn is the only running cost you control.
Routes that fit comfortably in one day
- Gori and Uplistsikhe — 86 km and 95 km: the cave town is the draw, and both sit on the same road out of the city.
- Gudauri — 121 km: the ski resort at 2,200 m by the Jvari pass, usually 2 to 2.5 hours from the capital.
When the road decides for you
The Georgian Military Road, the S3, runs 139 km from Mtskheta to the Russian border at Stepantsminda, through Zhinvali, Ananuri, Pasanauri and Gudauri. Its highest point is the Jvari pass at 2,379 m, and the upper sections close when there is avalanche risk — so a winter run to Gudauri or Kazbegi is worth checking on the morning itself rather than the night before. The ski season there runs from early December to mid-April, and winter tyres are compulsory from 1 December to 1 March. Do not put a mountain day on the last morning of the trip.
Longer days and where the car earns its keep
Borjomi sits 160 km out, Bakuriani 184 km, Vardzia 225 km and David Gareja 98 km — the last one is short in distance but slow on the final stretch. For any of these, the $39 step is the sensible one: the Crossover Kia Sportage, Chevrolet Trax and Volkswagen Tiguan and the Comfort Mazda 3 all carry all-wheel drive, which matters on gravel and on the climb to the pass. Our one-way option to Batumi, 358 km, is arranged case by case rather than promised on the site. If a specific date matters for the Mini Cabrio — the single Convertible on this page at $69 a day — book it first, because there is no second one to fall back on.
