Tolls on the routes you will actually drive

• AP-7 Vila-seca — La Jonquera: the whole corridor down to the French border, free of charge since 01.09.2021.
• C-32 Maresme (Montgat — Palafolls): the run towards Blanes and Lloret de Mar; barriers came down on the night of 31 August to 1 September 2021.
• C-33 to Montmeló: free since 01.09.2021.
• C-16 (Cadí, Vallvidrera, Sant Cugat–Terrassa–Manresa) and C-32 south (Castelldefels–Sitges–El Vendrell): the only Generalitat tolls left — barrier Vallcarca €8.42, Cubelles €5.03, category 2 — and they sit off the coastal routes.

Catalonia is discussing bringing back some form of motorway charge, a vignette or a pay-per-use scheme, but no decision has been taken.

The Girona low-emission zone

The Zona de baixes emissions (ZBE) de Girona has been in force since 15.09.2025 and covers the area from la Devesa park to c. d'Emili Grahit and from c. del Riu Güell to c. del Carme and Barri Vell, restricted 07:00–20:00 Monday to Friday on working days. Cars without a DGT environmental badge that are not registered locally are the ones affected; there is a 24-day-a-year allowance inside restricted hours without a permit. Cameras read plates, so no sticker has to be displayed, and foreign plates can get a temporary authorisation if the car meets the technical and environmental requirements.

• Cap de Creus: beyond Cadaqués, on a lighthouse road closed to cars at set hours in season (daily 9:30–21:30 from July to 13 September).

Inland villages and the French border

The AP-7 corridor from Barcelona through Girona to the French border has been toll-free since 01.09.2021, and the C-32 Maresme barriers came down the same night — so a loop that mixes coast and interior costs nothing in tolls on those two roads. Taking the car into France is agreed when booking.

Second, the Cap de Creus road to the Far de Cap de Creus is closed to cars 9:30–19:00 on 28–31 March and set days in April and May, 9:30–21:30 on set June days and daily from July to 13 September.
