Every hire includes VAT 7% in the price shown, and the car is handed over clean with a full tank. Hire runs from 1 day, so a single-day booking is a real option rather than a minimum-week trap. A bank card in the main driver's name is used for the security hold, and the amount is set out in the rental agreement. The minimum driver age is 21; conditions for drivers under 25 and for premium classes are set out in the same agreement. Documents are the passport, home driving licence, International Driving Permit unless you hold an ASEAN licence, and the bank card. Where we bring the car

We deliver to any address in the city and to U-Tapao Airport (UTP), Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and Don Mueang Airport (DMK) for Pattaya. U-Tapao sits 48.9 km from the city by road — roughly 62 minutes without traffic — so a car waiting at arrivals saves you the run into town. Suvarnabhumi is 115.8 km out, about 100 minutes, and Don Mueang 151.3 km, around 121 minutes. Delivery anywhere else is arranged case by case and is not promised on the site, so tell the manager your plans and we will say what is possible.

What happens at hand-over

The car arrives clean with a full tank, and rental is available from 1 day — a single day is a real booking, not a minimum-week trap. Compulsory motor insurance (Por Ror Bor) is attached to every registered car and covers injury to third parties; first-class insurance covers damage to the car, and its terms and the excess are set out in the rental agreement. The security hold is taken on a bank card in the main driver's name, and the amount is set out in the agreement. Minimum driver age is 21, with conditions for drivers under 25 and for premium classes also set out in the agreement. Confirm the arrival time a day ahead, so the manager knows about an early or late flight.

Driving a hybrid rental in Pattaya licences rules and fines

Thailand drives on the left and every car in our fleet is right-hand drive, so the first ten minutes behind the wheel of a hybrid are about unlearning habits, not about the car.

Documents you carry and the fine if you do not

• Home licence plus International Driving Permit: a foreign visitor needs both — the IDP issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention, which Thailand recognises, carried alongside the licence from home.
• ASEAN nationals: a national licence from an ASEAN country is valid on its own, with no IDP and no conversion.
• The fine: driving without the right documents costs ฿500–1,000, and an insurer may refuse a claim after an incident — which is the expensive part.
• Also in the car: your passport and a bank card in the main driver's name; the rental agreement sets out everything else.
• Date of birth matters: the minimum driver age is 21, and the conditions for drivers under 25 and for premium classes are set out in the agreement.

Speed, alcohol and cameras

Pattaya City is named as a built-up area, so the limit inside it is 80 km/h, 90 km/h applies outside built-up areas, and Motorway 7 allows 120 km/h — a sign can lower any of these, and the fine runs up to ฿1,000, usually ฿500 on a receipt. The 120 km/h limit on that motorway is enforced primarily by speed cameras, and a camera fine is issued to the car owner, re-invoiced to the renter. On alcohol, a ministerial regulation published in the Royal Gazette on 20 September 2024 sets 20 mg/dl for drivers under 20, holders of temporary licences, drivers without a licence and drivers holding the wrong category. Watch the limit signs on the way in from the motorway rather than trusting the number you saw ten kilometres back.

On the road, day to day

• Left-hand traffic: keep left, and remember Beach Road and Second Road run one way anticlockwise.
• Seat belts: every passenger wears one, including the back row.
• Child seats: children under 6 need a TISI-standard child seat, and anyone below 135 cm needs a restraint or a special seat — the fine reaches ฿2,000.
• Kerbside parking: never at a red-and-white or yellow-and-white kerb.
• Islands: the ferry to Ko Lan carries passengers only, so the car stays on the mainland at Bali Hai Pier.

Every hybrid hire comes with two layers of cover, a security hold and a written contract. Here is what each of those means in practice, and where the numbers sit.

Compulsory cover and Class 1 insurance

Compulsory motor insurance (Por Ror Bor) covers injury to third parties and is attached to every registered car, so it travels with the hybrid you drive. First-class (Class 1) insurance covers damage to the car itself — its terms and the excess are set out in the rental agreement. Read the excess line before you drive away, not after a kerb finds the front bumper.

The security hold on a bank card

• Card in the main driver's name: a bank card in the main driver's name is used for the security hold; the amount is set out in the agreement.
• Minimum driver age: 21, with conditions for drivers under 25 and for premium classes set out in the agreement.

The contract itself, and what it discloses

Since 30 December 2025 a car rental agreement is a contract controlled by the OCPB: it is written in Thai, and all fees and penalties are disclosed in it. Every charge has a line in it. Where a condition is not fixed in the agreement — a delivery fee, if any, or the exact hold — it is agreed when booking, before the booking is fixed. Ask the manager at that point and get the answer in writing.

Documents and the driver

Bring the passport, your home driving licence and an International Driving Permit, which Thailand recognises under the 1949 Geneva Convention. Citizens of ASEAN countries drive on their national licence without one.

Long stays and out-of-town trips in a hybrid rental

A hybrid pays off most clearly on the longer horizon. The weekly rate is the daily rate multiplied by six, the monthly rate is the daily rate multiplied by twenty-one, and both are lower per day than what a single day costs — so a stay of two or three weeks in Pattaya is where the arithmetic turns in your favour.

For a month of everyday driving, the Comfort class holds four cars from ฿1,050 — the Honda City Hatchback e:HEV, the Toyota Yaris Ativ HEV, the BYD Seal 5 DM-i and the Toyota Corolla Altis Hybrid — all sedans or hatchbacks with 5 seats and a 1.5 L or 1.8 L engine. Families of six or seven have exactly one hybrid option here: the Chery Tiggo 8 PHEV at ฿1,550 a day, the only 7-seater in the eleven.

Day trips a hybrid handles well

• Koh Larn: the ferry takes passengers only, so the car stays behind at Bali Hai Pier while you cross.
• Nong Nooch and Khao Chi Chan: roughly 24 km and 23 km out, comfortable half-day runs on hybrid power.
• Bang Saen and Si Racha: 48 km and 28 km north on Hwy 3 Sukhumvit.
• Hua Hin: 321 km each way, a genuine overnight trip rather than a day out.

On the Motorway 7 run the limit is 120 km/h and it is enforced primarily by speed cameras, with the fine issued to the car owner and re-invoiced to the renter. Our advice: plan a long-stay booking around the weekly or monthly rate rather than stacking single days.
