Longer bookings are priced as daily × 6 for a week and daily × 21 for a month, so the weekly rate starts at €228 and the monthly at €798. Those multipliers apply across the four models on the page — at €38 a day the weekly figure is €228 and the monthly €798; at €45 a day the same multipliers give the top of the grid.

Skoda Octavia and Peugeot 408, more space and an automatic

The Skoda Octavia is €42 per day and the Peugeot 408 is €45, the only automatic on the page. Both seat 5 and both are petrol, front-wheel drive.

The two lines worth reading twice are the excess figure and the fuel clause, because those are the two that turn into a charge at drop-off.

Driving and returning the car

Speed limits on the roads you will actually use are 120 km/h on the autopista and autovía network — AP-7, A-2, C-32 and C-33 — and 90 km/h on carretera convencional such as the GI-614, GI-682 and C-260. Returning the car full matters more than it looks: refuel before you get close to the drop-off point, because the missing fuel plus a refuelling service fee are charged as set out in the agreement. Our own rule is simple — the car leaves with a full tank and comes back with a full tank, and no other fuel option is offered.

ZBE de Girona and the DGT sticker

The Zona de baixes emissions (ZBE) de Girona has operated since 15.09.2025, between 7:00 and 20:00, Monday to Friday on working days, covering the area from la Devesa park to c. d'Emili Grahit and from c. del Riu Güell to c. del Carme and Barri Vell. Cars without a DGT environmental sticker and not registered in Girona are the ones restricted; cameras read plates, so there is nothing to display. Spanish fleets carry the DGT sticker, which means a hired car clears the zone without any paperwork from you.

What is not included

• Fuel used on the road: you pay for what you burn and for the refill that returns the tank to full.
• Child seats: SRI restraints are compulsory for children under 135 cm; above that height a standard belt is allowed.
• Tolls: the AP-7 corridor from Barcelona through Girona to the French border has been free of charge since 01.09.2021, so the main coastal routes carry no barrier.

What the roads actually ask of a sedan

The AP-7 corridor between Barcelona, Girona and the French border has been toll-free since 01.09.2021, and the C-32 Maresme barriers came down the same night, so the fast approach to the coast costs nothing in tolls. Speeds are the Spanish standard: 120 km/h on autopista and autovía, 90 km/h on the carretera convencional that carries you the last stretch into Blanes, Lloret de Mar or Tossa de Mar.

Distances from the airport to the coast

• Girona-Costa Brava Airport (GRO) to Lloret de Mar: 34.6 km, about 37 minutes via the C-63 and A-2.
• GRO to Roses: 75.2 km, about 63 minutes, mostly on the AP-7.
• Barcelona-El Prat (BCN) to Lloret de Mar: 89.6 km, about 75 minutes via the C-32 and C-31.
• Cadaqués to Cap de Creus: the lighthouse road, with seasonal access controls from late March to 1 November — daily 9:30–21:30 from July to 13 September.

Fuel, parking and the one zone to know

Petrol 95 E5 averages €1.94 a litre across the province of Girona, with the coastal stations running slightly higher at €1.956, and around 250 filling stations to choose from. Parking splits into paid and free: Girona's zona blava runs Monday to Saturday in two windows, 9:30–13:00 and 16:00–20:00, at €1.20 an hour capped at two hours, while Lloret de Mar's Can Lloranes car park charges roughly €15 a day from 23 June to 11 September and nothing outside that window. The one restriction worth planning around is the Zona de baixes emissions (ZBE) de Girona — in force since 15.09.2025, Monday to Friday, 07:00–20:00 on working days, covering the area between la Devesa, c. d'Emili Grahit, c. del Riu Güell and c. del Carme and Barri Vell. Cars without a DGT environmental badge that are not registered in Girona are the ones affected; Spanish rental fleets carry the badge, so a car from us is not among them.

Documents, insurance and rules for sedan car rental in Costa Brava

What follows is what Spanish law and our own booking terms actually say — no invented figures, no promises about desks or signatures.

What you need to produce

• Licence from the EU/EEA: valid in Spain exactly as issued until its expiry date, with nothing extra required.
• Licence from outside the EU/EEA: valid while it is in force; the DGT recommends getting an international driving permit before the trip and carrying it alongside your passport and your national licence.
• Licence not written in Spanish: valid either with an official certified translation or if it was issued on the Appendix 9 Geneva or Appendix 6 Vienna model — for Cyrillic, Arabic or Chinese scripts this in practice means an IDP or a certified translation.
• Bank card: the card for the deposit, the amount and the cards accepted are agreed when booking.

Insurance the car already carries

Compulsory third-party cover, Seguro Obligatorio de Responsabilidad Civil, is included in every hire by Spanish law and applies even if someone not named in the agreement was driving. Its limits are 70,000,000 EUR per incident for personal injury and 15,000,000 EUR for property damage. The consumer authority requires every scratch and dent to be written into the agreement or the inspection sheet before you drive away, signed by both sides, with a copy for you; without that, damage found later is charged to the renter.

Rules that catch drivers out

• Speed: 120 km/h on autopista and autovía, 90 km/h on a carretera convencional such as the GI-614 or C-260.
• Alcohol: 0.25 mg/l of exhaled air for experienced drivers, 0.15 mg/l for the first two years and for professional drivers; above 0.60 mg/l it becomes a criminal offence.
• Phone in hand: 200 EUR and 3–6 points.
• Seat belts and child seats: 200 EUR and 4 points; child restraints are compulsory for anyone under 135 cm.
• ZBE de Girona: the low-emission zone runs 7:00–20:00, Monday to Friday on working days, and applies to cars without a DGT environmental badge that are not registered in Girona.
• Paying fines: a 50% discount applies if you pay within 20 calendar days.

Our own rule is simpler than any of that: the car is supplied with a full tank and comes back with a full tank, lleno-lleno. Anything else — the missing fuel and the refuelling service fee — is charged as the rental agreement sets out.
