On weekly and monthly rates, the daily price falls below the standard daily rate: a weekly rental is calculated on six days of the daily rate, and a monthly rental on twenty-one days. So renting a Clio weekly starts from 9,900 TL, and monthly from 34,650 TL. This formula, while you pay the full daily rate on short-term rentals, provides a clear advantage over the long term. For any rental exceeding two weeks, it is worth comparing the monthly rate—the difference can offset a significant part of your accommodation budget.

Which is the cheapest model?

The most economical option at Rent-Trip is the hatchback Clio at 1,650 TL per day. With its 1.0-liter petrol engine and automatic transmission, it offers sufficient performance for city use. For those on a budget, the Taliant is another alternative at 1,700 TL — with a sedan body and the same engine, it is only 50 TL more expensive than the Clio. In city driving, it is hard to feel the difference between the Clio and the Taliant; the real difference shows up in trunk space.

Clio or Captur? City car or SUV?

The Clio is the most practical choice for narrow streets and heavy traffic. With its 1.0-liter petrol engine and automatic transmission, it rents for 1,650 TL per day. The Captur, on the other hand, with its 1.3-liter engine and raised driving position, goes for 2,450 TL. In city use, the Clio stands out for fuel consumption and ease of parking; however, on connecting roads with rough surfaces, the Captur's ground clearance is an advantage. On the European side of the metropolis, in busy neighborhoods like Beşiktaş and Beyoğlu, we recommend the Clio; on the Asian side, around Ataşehir and Maltepe with wide avenues, the Captur. Both models are 5-seaters and offer automatic transmission.

9-seat Trafic: When is it needed?

The Trafic, with its 9-seat diesel engine and manual transmission, rents for 5,000 TL per day — the highest daily rate in our fleet. A trip to Sapanca with two families, picking up a group of 8 from the airport, or a move with belongings requires this model. Its 2.0-liter 150 hp engine provides sufficient power for long journeys to Bursa over the Osmangazi Bridge. Compared to standard sedans, the Trafic's boot capacity also increases exponentially; even with 9 passengers, there is room for luggage.

Diesel or Petrol?

Diesel models are 400–1,250 TRY more expensive per day than petrol ones. The Megane Sedan, with its 1.5-liter diesel engine, provides significant savings in fuel consumption per liter on long journeys. With weekly rentals, the diesel premium can be offset by fuel economy. However, for daily city driving of 50–80 km, a petrol Clio or Taliant makes more sense—diesel's advantage only appears at daily distances above 300 km.

Automatic or Manual?

All Renault models in our fleet except the Trafic are automatic. In stop-and-go traffic, an automatic eliminates clutch fatigue and makes starting easier in hilly neighbourhoods — for example, on the ramps up to Beşiktaş. Driving the Trafic manually requires some getting used to, especially for drivers coming from outside Turkey; the gear changes of this 9-seater differ from passenger cars. For drivers not accustomed to manual, we recommend a short practice drive before taking the Trafic.

Section 3 — Rental Conditions and Documents for Foreigners

The documents required to rent a car in Turkey vary depending on your country and the format of your driver's license. At Rent-Trip, most of our foreign guests complete the process in a single visit; we also check all documents via WhatsApp before delivery.

What documents are needed?

• Passport: Your valid passport and the stamp you received upon entry into Turkey — an expired passport will halt the rental process.
• Local license: A driver's license with a photo issued in your own country; its validity must continue throughout the rental period.
• International Driving Permit (IDP): Required if your license is not in the Latin alphabet (Arabic, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, etc.).
• Credit card: A credit card issued in the main driver's name and valid for the rental period — it is required for the security block.

The entry stamp in your passport must have been affixed within the 180 days prior to the date you take delivery of the vehicle. For foreigners residing here, the residence permit replaces the passport stamp.

In which cases is an IDP mandatory?

Driver's licenses from countries that do not use the Latin alphabet (including Russia, China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Gulf countries) are not valid alone in Turkey. To rent a car with these licenses, an IDP is essential; the IDP serves as an official translation of your license and is obtained from driver authorities or authorized automobile clubs in your own country. European Union, US, UK, Canadian, and Australian licenses are issued in the Latin alphabet and are accepted without an IDP. It is not possible to obtain an IDP in Turkey — you can only obtain this document in your own country, before traveling.

Age and license experience requirements

• Age limit: The minimum age for all vehicles is 21; for SUVs and minivans, this limit rises to 25.
• Driving experience: For the economy class, 1 year of driving experience is required; for upper-class vehicles, 3 years.
• Additional driver: It is possible to add a second driver; the additional driver must present the same set of documents.
• Credit card limit: For the security block, your card limit must exceed the rental amount; the exact amount is set out in the contract.

Since age and experience requirements vary by vehicle class, sharing your driver details during reservation speeds up the process. For drivers who do not meet the requirements, no vehicle change can be made on delivery day — in such cases, the reservation fee is not refunded.

Section 4 — Delivery — Airports and Districts

Rent-Trip's delivery model eliminates office waiting time: the car is brought to the customer's location on both sides of the city and at IST and SAW airports. Since there is no physical office or rental desk, delivery is scheduled according to the address and time in the reservation.

How does delivery to IST and SAW work?

Istanbul's two airports are located on two different sides of the city: Istanbul Airport (IST) in Arnavutköy on the European side, and Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) in Pendik on the Asian side. Rent-Trip offers separate landing pages for each airport and delivers the car at the terminal exit. In case of flight delays, the delivery time is updated based on the customer's reported new landing time; this solves the most common question about airport deliveries from the start. At delivery, the condition of the car, fuel level, and damage records are checked together, the contract is signed, and the keys are handed over.

Delivery to the European and Asian sides

The city spreads across two continents as the European and Asian sides; Şişli, Beşiktaş, Beyoğlu, Fatih, and Bakırköy are on the European side, while Kadıköy, Üsküdar, Ataşehir, Maltepe, and Ümraniye are on the Asian side. Rent-Trip delivers to neighborhoods and hotels on both sides; intercontinental crossings are made via the bridges and the Eurasia Tunnel with HGS. Delivery time slots are kept more flexible on the European side depending on traffic density; for deliveries to the Asian side, the advantage of proximity to Sabiha Gökçen comes into play.

No Physical Office — Where Is the Car Delivered?

Rent-Trip has no rental desks, offices, or counters at airports or in districts; the car is delivered to the address specified by the customer. This address can be a hotel lobby, office building entrance, airport parking lot, or residence — the delivery point is clarified during reservation. The car is delivered within city limits and at both airports; identity and driver's license checks are performed upon delivery, then a contract is signed.

• Hotel delivery: The room number is reported from the reception, and the car is delivered in the parking lot or at the entrance.
• Airport delivery: A welcome is provided at the terminal exit, and the car is kept ready in the parking lot.
• District delivery: The vehicle is brought to the specified address; delivery time averages 20-30 minutes.

Section 5 — HGS, Bridges, and Out-of-Town Trips

One of the most common questions from our customers renting a Renault in Istanbul is how bridge and motorway tolls are paid. Since the city spans two sides, Bosphorus crossings are part of daily life, and HGS is the only payment method for these crossings. In this section, we clarify how HGS works, what tolls await you on intercity routes, and the scope of compulsory traffic insurance.

How HGS Works and Toll Rates

HGS is the electronic toll system used at bridge and highway toll booths in Turkey. It works through an HGS tag defined to the vehicle's license plate or an account with a loaded balance; you pass without stopping at the booth and the fee is automatically deducted. HGS is active in all Renaults you rent at Rent-Trip, and tolls are reflected as specified in the contract according to your usage. According to current tolls, a crossing of the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge is 110 TL, the Eurasia Tunnel is 280 TL during the day and 140 TL at night, and the Osmangazi Bridge is 1,170 TL. An unpaid crossing within the due time may result in a penalty of four times the fee as a violated passage — so do not neglect checking your balance.

Can You Go Out of Town: Sapanca, Bursa, Cappadocia

Leaving the megacity with a rental car is free, and our Renault models are suitable for these routes. For weekend getaways, Şile and Ağva are about 1.5 hours away, Sapanca 2 hours away; Bursa and Uludağ are reached via the Osmangazi Bridge. On longer routes, for example, a drive of about 8 hours awaits you to Cappadocia—for such long trips, the diesel Megane Sedan or Talisman is more advantageous in terms of fuel consumption. On out-of-town trips, make sure your HGS balance is sufficient, especially on high-toll crossings like the Osmangazi Bridge. The rental contract also specifies the range and daily kilometer limit; be sure to review this detail before taking delivery.

What Does Compulsory Traffic Insurance Cover?

Compulsory traffic insurance is legally valid for every vehicle registered in Turkey; the Renault you rent is also covered. This insurance covers the other party's vehicle and injury damages up to certain limits as a result of an accident. Damage to the driver's own vehicle is not covered by this insurance; this is secured by comprehensive insurance or optional packages, and details are set out in the contract. Weekly and monthly Renault rental offers a clear advantage per day compared to the daily rate: the weekly price is calculated as six times the daily rate, and the monthly price as twenty-one times. This model is designed for those needing a vehicle for more than a week.

Weekly rental: daily × 6

In the weekly rate, you pay for six days, and the seventh day is free. For example, a Renault Clio with a daily rate of 1,650 TL corresponds to 9,900 TL per week; similarly, the weekly amount for a Renault Trafic is 30,000 TL. In a two-week business trip or vacation plan, this difference creates a budget for an extra day's activity. In weekly rental, the car stays with you, and the delivery and return processes occur only twice. It is also advantageous for out-of-town routes: a two-hour getaway to Sapanca or a day trip to Bursa via the Osmangazi Bridge can be planned without worrying about daily fees.

Monthly rental: rates starting from 34,650 TL

Monthly Renault rental is calculated as twenty-one times the daily rate and starts from 34,650 TL. This option suits foreign guests staying a month or longer, those working on intercity projects, or drivers who have put their own car in for service. In the monthly package, the Clio is the most economical choice, while the diesel Megane Sedan offers fuel advantages for long-distance use. You pick up the car at your desired location, from Şişli on the European side to Kadıköy on the Asian side; since there is no physical office, the delivery address is entirely up to you. In long-term rentals, contract conditions—deposit, mileage limit, and insurance coverage—are set out in the rental agreement.

Section 7 — Rental Process and Contract Details

The process from reservation to delivery consists of two main steps: online payment and car delivery; since there is no physical office, all transactions are carried out digitally. At Rent-Trip, the rental process, contract, and payment conditions proceed transparently.

Steps from reservation to delivery

Online reservation is completed with delivery point and time information. The vehicle is brought to the specified address — whether to central districts or to IST or SAW airports. At delivery, driver's license and passport are checked, then the rental agreement is signed and the vehicle is handed over with its mileage.

Deposit and credit card requirement

A credit card issued in the main driver's name is mandatory for the security hold at pickup. The hold amount varies according to the vehicle class and rental duration and is set out in the rental agreement. No alternative payment method is offered for customers without a credit card; this condition applies to all vehicle classes.

• Contract: Rental conditions, deposit amount and insurance coverage are set out in the contract.
• Refund: The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level and cleanliness as when rented.
• Additional driver: If someone other than the main driver drives the vehicle, they must be added to the contract as an additional driver.

During the rental period, vehicle maintenance and mechanical breakdowns are our responsibility; situations such as tire damage or windshield breakage are assessed according to the insurance coverage in the contract. We recommend documenting the vehicle's existing damage with photographs before delivery—this record prevents disputes that may arise at return.
