Driving rules that carry a fine
- Speed: 80 km/h in built-up areas, 90 km/h outside them, 120 km/h on the motorway, 110 km/h on expressways, 100 km/h on elevated sections.
- Alcohol: the 20 mg/dl limit applies to drivers under 20, holders of temporary licences, and drivers without a valid licence of the right category.
- Child seats: children under 6 need a TISI-standard child seat; below 135 cm a seat or restraint is required — the fine is up to ฿2,000.
- Seat belts: every passenger buckles up, including the rear row.
- Kerbside parking: never at a red-and-white or yellow-and-white kerb.

M-Flow billing and what it means for a rental
Ask at hand-over how an M-Flow invoice is settled on a rental. Pay within two days of the crossing by plate number through the M-Flow site, the app, a QR code, a bank or an ATM. From the third day the tariff doubles, then the tariff plus twice the tariff plus a penalty of ten times the tariff, and after that the case goes to court.
Parking in the city
- Shopping malls: CentralWorld gives two hours free, then ฿20 an hour, and ฿50 an hour after six; ICONSIAM gives two hours free, ฿30 for the third hour, ฿60 an hour after seven.
- Terminal 21 Asok: three hours free, ฿20 an hour from the fourth to the sixth, ฿50 an hour from the seventh.
- Free parking: Central Bangna for the first six hours, and Esplanade Ratchada, PARA Pinklao and Central Festival Eastville with no charge.
- Kerbside: never leave the car at a red-and-white or yellow-and-white kerb.
Speed limits are 80 km/h in built-up areas, 90 km/h outside them, 120 km/h on Motorway 7 and Motorway 9, 110 km/h on the expressways and 100 km/h on elevated sections.
