Our fleet runs 4-, 5- and 7-seat cars, and a family of five or more should take a 7-seater minivan or SUV. Rent-Trip keeps 7 minivans with 7 seats from ฿1,200 per day, 8 crossovers with 5 seats from ฿1,350 and 6 SUVs with 4, 5 or 7 seats from ฿1,700. Only one car seats four — the Jeep Wrangler; the electric MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3 and GAC Aion Y are 5-seat crossovers.

Minivan or SUV: which body type to pick

The Toyota Innova, Toyota Veloz, Mitsubishi Xpander and Honda BR-V all seat seven on petrol and start between ฿1,500 and ฿1,800 a day.

Luggage and pushchairs: what fits inside

• Model by name: ask for the model when booking — a Toyota Innova and a Toyota Avanza both seat seven but differ in engine (2.0 L against 1.5 L) and price.
• Pushchair first: pack the pushchair and the cases before you confirm the class; the difference between ฿1,200 and ฿1,800 a day is smaller than a second car.

Children under 6 must ride in a child seat built to the TISI standard, and anyone below 135 cm needs a belt or a dedicated seat. The rule comes from the 13th amendment to the Land Traffic Act 1979, published in the Royal Gazette in May 2022 and in force since 17 August 2023, and it applies to cars, pickups and minivans alike. The fine for a child riding without a seat runs up to ฿2,000. Where no seat is available, a child may ride behind on a lap belt, slowly, in the left lane — never in the bed of a pickup, and in a pickup never in the cargo area at all.

The multipliers are fixed: weekly is the daily rate times six, monthly is the daily rate times twenty-one, so a ฿1,200 minivan works out at ฿7,200 for a week and ฿25,200 for a month. VAT 7% is already inside the figures shown. Across our 26 cars the spread runs from the ฿1,100 electric MG ZS EV to the ฿8,000 BMW X3, and every class in between — 7-seat minivans from ฿1,200, 5-seat crossovers from ฿1,350, SUVs and 4x4s from ฿1,700 — sits on the same daily-times-six ladder.

• Third-party cover: compulsory motor insurance (Por Ror Bor) is attached to every registered car and covers injury to third parties.
• Class 1 insurance: covers damage to the car itself; its terms and the excess are set out in the rental agreement.
• VAT: 7% is included in the prices shown, so the daily figure is what you compare.
• Security hold: a bank card in the main driver's name is used for the hold; the amount is set out in the rental agreement.
• Delivery: the car comes to the address agreed when booking; any delivery fee is agreed at the same point.

October to December is the wettest stretch of the year, with November the peak at 444.6 mm over 16.5 rainy days, and that is when the island's low-lying stretches flood. February to April is the dry window at 64.3–115.8 mm a month, and July and August stay dry enough to count as a genuine summer season here. Build slack into any airport run on a wet day.
