Rent-Trip is a self-drive car rental company: we deliver the car to you and agree every booking with a manager. Our fleet runs to 754 cars, 60 makes and 18 classes across six countries — Thailand, the USA, the UAE, Turkey, France and Spain — and rates fall the longer you hire, at weekly = daily × 6 and monthly = daily × 21.

Self-drive means you are the driver: the keys stay with you for the whole booking, and a car with a driver is a service we run separately from the self-drive fleet. A booking can be a single run to the shops or a week of moving between beaches and towns. Because nobody drives for you, the agreement is the document that fixes your responsibilities, and it is worth reading at hand-over rather than after. That same agreement carries the country-specific parts: insurance, mileage and the documents differ between Thailand, the USA, the UAE, Turkey, France and Spain, so the terms you sign in one country are not the terms of another.

Booking works in one conversation, not a checkout form. We deliver the car to the client — in Phuket, in Orlando, in Dubai, in Istanbul, in Paris, in Madrid and in Barcelona — and a manager agrees the dates, the meeting point and the class with you directly. In our practice, the hand-over goes fastest when the delivery address and the return time are confirmed in the same message as the booking dates, because those two details decide which car we assign. Confirm them together and there is nothing left to settle on the day.

Who we are and how Rent-Trip works

Rent-Trip is a self-drive car rental operator: the vehicle reaches the client directly, and no booking is confirmed until a manager has spoken with the traveller. Our fleet runs to 754 cars, 60 makes and 18 classes — a range that stretches from compact economy models and mid-size sedans to SUVs, pickups and premium convertibles, so a solo traveller, a couple with luggage and a family of five each find something that fits.

Self-drive means the keys are yours for the whole hire. In Thailand and the USA a booking starts from 1 day (24 hours), and the driver named in the agreement is the one who takes the wheel. Since no one drives on your behalf, the rental agreement becomes the document that sets out what you are responsible for, and the rules that apply are those of the country where the keys change hands: a licence requirement valid in one place does not automatically hold in the next. Read that paperwork when the car is handed over, not later.

Booking works the same way everywhere: you tell a manager your dates and the class you want, we confirm the vehicle and agree the meeting point with you in that same conversation. There is no online checkout.

How the fleet is put together

Our fleet runs to 754 cars, 60 makes and 18 classes, split across six countries and sized so that a solo traveller and a group of eight never compete for the same vehicle. We group cars by class rather than by model, because that is how a booking actually gets made: you pick the job the car has to do, then the class that does it.

The largest single block is Economy — 109 cars, from the Toyota Yaris and Dacia Sandero to the Ford Fiesta and Kia Picanto. Two body styles are listed under more than one name: SUVs come to 93 cars (SUV & 4x4 47 and SUV 46) and Crossovers to 74 (Crossover 47 and Crossovers 27), because each country's catalogue names them its own way. The fleet then steps down through Comfort at 67, Premium at 62, Minivans at 57, Electric at 53 and Luxury at 47, and narrows into the specialist end: Exotic at 35, Passenger vans at 31, Convertibles at 29, Sedan at 28, Sports at 24, Commercial at 22, Pickup trucks at 17 and 7-seater at 6. Seat counts run from 2 to 15, and 73 cars in the fleet seat seven, so a group of six travels together where a Premium sedan would split them across two bookings.

Gearbox: 596 of the 754 cars are automatic and 158 are manual, so check the gearbox of the model you pick if you have never driven a manual.
Fuel types: Diesel, Electric, Gasoline, Hybrid and Petrol are all represented; ask for the fuel type when you book, since it changes the running cost of a long hire.
Concrete units: the Nissan Versa is an Economy sedan with 5 seats and a 1.6 L engine at $40 per day in the USA; the Honda Brio is an Economy hatchback with 5 seats at ฿750 per day in Thailand.

Pick the class by seat count and luggage, not by engine size — in our experience a family of five with three suitcases fits an SUV long before it fits a Premium sedan.

What it costs and how the rate is calculated

Rates start from ฿750 per day in Thailand, $40 per day in the USA, AED 55 per day in the UAE, ₺1,600 per day in Turkey, €29 per day in France and €14 per day in Spain — these are entry-class figures, and the class you book moves the number. At Rent-Trip, weekly rates are daily × 6 and monthly rates are daily × 21, so the longer you keep the car, the lower the price per day.

The country sets the base: 137 cars in Madrid, 136 in Barcelona, 134 in Paris, 90 in Orlando, 88 in Phuket, 87 in Istanbul and 82 in Dubai, and the entry class is the cheapest way into the fleet. What you actually pay depends on three things — country, class and length of booking. All but 158 of the 754 cars are automatic, and the classes run from Economy and Sedans through Crossovers, SUVs and Minivans to Premium, Luxury and Exotic. In our experience, travellers who ask for a price without naming the class get a quote for Economy and then book a Premium, so quote the class when you ask.

Deposit: held on a bank card in the main driver's name; the amount is set out in the rental agreement.
Delivery: the meeting point is agreed when booking, in the same conversation as your dates.
Mileage: the terms are set out in the rental agreement.

What is included and what the rental agreement sets out

Every booking with Rent-Trip includes the car delivered to you and agreed with a manager — that part is the same in all six countries. In Thailand and the USA the car also arrives clean with a full tank, and a booking can be as short as one day. The rest is set by the country you collect in, so read the agreement for the place where you pick the car up.

Insurance: compulsory cover for injury to third parties is attached to every car in Thailand, comprehensive CDW is included in the price in the UAE, and state-minimum liability plus a Loss Damage Waiver are included in the USA — the deductible and exclusions sit in the agreement.
Mileage: unlimited on Phuket and in Florida; in the UAE, 250 km per day is included and extra kilometres are charged.
Security hold: a bank card in the main driver's name, with the amount set out in the agreement.
Taxes: on Phuket VAT 7% is already inside the price shown; in Dubai VAT 5% is shown separately; in Florida sales tax and the rental car surcharge are added when you pay.
Documents: a passport, your home licence and, where the country requires it, an International Driving Permit.

Every condition that applies to your booking is set out in the rental agreement for the country where you collect the car.

Who can drive and what to bring

Rent-Trip hands over cars to drivers aged 21 and over, except in Turkey, where the age and driving-experience requirement rises with the class of car and is set out in the rental agreement. What changes with the country is everything else, so treat age as the floor, not the whole rule. In the UAE, luxury, sports and exotic classes start at 25. In the USA, some premium classes and passenger vans may ask for 25 or more; the extra classes are set out in the agreement. In Thailand, conditions for drivers under 25 and for premium classes are set out in the same document.

Bring a passport and a driving licence from home, plus a bank card in the main driver's name for the security hold. Beyond that, the paperwork splits by country. Thailand asks for an International Driving Permit alongside your home licence, unless you hold an ASEAN licence. The UAE asks residents for an Emirates ID and a local licence, and tourists for a passport, visa or entry stamp, home licence and an IDP if the licence is not in Latin script. Florida asks for a licence and a passport for international visitors.

In our practice, the licence is the document that trips people up. Check the script and the expiry date before you fly, not at the meeting point.
