Weekly car rental in Pattaya is built around two things: the car comes to you, and every detail of the hand-over is settled with a manager before the booking is fixed. The weekly figure itself is simple arithmetic — the daily rate multiplied by six.

What a weekly rate includes

A Rent-Trip weekly rate equals the daily rate multiplied by six, so seven days in the MG MG3 comes to ฿4,140 against ฿690 a day. The same logic holds across the fleet: the Suzuki Swift at ฿790 a day works out at ฿4,740 for the week, the Honda WR-V at ฿1,050 a day at ฿6,300. Because the multiplier never moves, a longer booking does not change the per-day logic — compare classes on the daily number and the week follows on its own.

How the car reaches your address

We deliver the car to any address in Pattaya and to U-Tapao Airport (UTP), Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and Don Mueang Airport (DMK). That covers arrivals by air as well as stays in Jomtien, Naklua and Wong Amat, Pratamnak Hill, Central Pattaya and East Pattaya — the car is brought to the door rather than collected from a lot. The delivery address, the date and the time are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed, and a delivery fee, if any, is agreed at that same point. The airport hand-over is where the timing matters most: U-Tapao sits 62 minutes out and Suvarnabhumi around 100 minutes, so a flight that lands late in the evening is worth flagging when you write, not on the day.

Drivers must be at least 21, and conditions for drivers under 25 and for premium classes are set out in the rental agreement.

Weekly is the daily rate × 6 and monthly is the daily rate × 21 — the only two multipliers we use on any booking. That means the same MG MG3 at ฿690 a day comes to ฿4,140 for seven days and ฿14,490 for a month, and the arithmetic holds for every class on the page, from the BYD Dolphin at ฿1,284 to the Toyota Veloz at ฿1,290. Nothing is hidden inside the longer tier: the multiplier is fixed, so a week never changes the per-day logic. Pick the class first, then the model inside it.

What moves the price within a class

• Engine and fuel: a 1.2 L Suzuki Swift at ฿790 sits below the 1.5 L MG MG5 at ฿1,050, and the hybrid MG MG3 Hybrid+ at ฿950 lands between the two.
• Fuel type: the one Electric car on the page, the BYD Dolphin, starts at ฿1,284 a day and ฿7,704 a week.
• Gearbox: every car in the fleet is automatic, so transmission never adds to the figure.

Weekly car rental in Pattaya for seven days of driving

Every car on this page is automatic, right-hand drive, with five or seven seats, and runs on petrol, diesel, a hybrid or electric power. A week is long enough that the class you pick matters more than the badge on the bonnet — the multiplier is the same for a small hatchback and a seven-seat MPV, so choose by seats and luggage, not by the multiplier.

Economy and Comfort for a couple or a small family

Economy holds 12 cars from ฿690 a day, including the MG MG3, Suzuki Swift, Suzuki Ciaz, Mitsubishi Attrage, Mazda 2 Hatchback and Mazda 2 Sedan, plus the Toyota Yaris, Toyota Yaris Ativ, Nissan Almera, MG MG5 and Honda City. Comfort adds two more from ฿1,050 — the Honda City Hatchback e:HEV and the Toyota Yaris Ativ HEV — both hybrids with a 1.5 L engine. Every one of them is a five-seater with front-wheel drive and an automatic box, so nothing here needs a different driving style.

Crossovers, Minivans and the Electric option

Minivans give seven seats from ฿1,290 a day — the Mitsubishi Xpander, Suzuki XL7 and Toyota Veloz — and the Electric class is the BYD Dolphin at ฿1,284, a 44.9 kWh hatchback with 95 hp. Crossovers sit in between: the Honda WR-V and MG ZS from ฿1,050 and ฿1,200, the MG HS with its 1.5 L turbo and 162 hp from ฿1,250, and the Suzuki Fronx and Toyota Yaris Cross from ฿1,290.

• Nissan Almera: 1.0 L turbo, 79 hp, five seats, ฿1,000 a day — a sedan with a separate boot.

Documents and conditions for a weekly rental

A week behind the wheel in Pattaya runs on three documents and a bank card, and the paperwork is agreed when you book rather than at a counter. This section sets out what a foreign visitor needs, how the security hold works, and which conditions are fixed in the agreement.

What a foreign visitor needs to drive

• Passport: the main driver's passport is the identity document the booking is tied to.
• Home driving licence: your national licence, valid and carried with you for the whole hire period.
• International Driving Permit: Thailand recognises the 1949 Geneva Convention permit, and it is required alongside your home licence; ASEAN citizens drive on their national licence instead.
• Bank card: a card in the main driver's name is used for the security hold, and the amount is set out in the agreement.
• Minimum age: 21; conditions for drivers under 25 and for premium classes are set out in the agreement.

Driving without a valid permit is a ฿500–1,000 police fine, and an insurer may refuse a claim — so carry both documents even on a short run to Jomtien.

The security hold, the agreement and what is fixed in writing

A bank card in the main driver's name covers the security hold, and the amount is not quoted here because it is set out in the agreement. Since 30 December 2025 a car hire contract in Thailand is controlled by the OCPB: it is written in Thai, and every fee and penalty is disclosed in it. That includes the excess on Class 1 insurance, which covers damage to the car — its terms sit in the same document, not on a website. Compulsory Por Ror Bor insurance covers injury to third parties and is attached to every registered car, so the two policies do different jobs. Read the Thai contract before you drive away, and check the excess figure in the agreement before you commit.

Traffic rules and fines a weekly renter meets

• Keep left: traffic in Thailand keeps to the left and every car is right-hand drive.
• Speed: 80 km/h in built-up areas, 90 km/h outside them, 120 km/h on Motorway 7.
• Cameras: the 120 km/h limit on Motorway 7 is enforced primarily by speed cameras, and a camera fine is issued to the car owner — the company — then re-invoiced to the driver.
• Parking: do not stop at a red-and-white or yellow-and-white kerb.
• Children: under 6 in a TISI-standard child seat; under 135 cm on a booster or special seat, fine up to ฿2,000.

What is agreed when booking

The delivery address, the date and the time are agreed with a manager before the booking is fixed, and a delivery fee, if any, is agreed at the same moment. Rent-Trip does not publish a deposit amount, an excess figure or a young-driver fee, because those belong to the agreement rather than to a page. Pick up the phone or write before you commit: one question about the excess now saves an argument at the end of the week.

Driving a weekly rental around Pattaya and beyond

A week behind the wheel here is mostly short hops: the city runs 53.4 km², Beach Road and Second Road are one-way in a counter-clockwise loop, and Jomtien is 11.2 km from the centre. Everything further is a day trip.

Traffic keeps to the left and every car we hand over is right-hand drive, so the first hour is the adjustment. Set your mirrors before you leave the delivery point, and drive the first loop of Beach Road and Second Road in daylight before you attempt it after dark.

Out of town on a weekly booking

Motorway 7 runs from Bangkok to Chonburi and on to Pattaya, 8 lanes at 120 km/h, and the Pattaya spur leaves at the Mab Prachan Interchange for Nong Prue and the Pattaya Interchange on Sukhumvit. Tolls are paid in cash in the left lanes or by M-PASS and Easy Pass in the blue lanes. Speed on the motorway is enforced primarily by cameras, and a camera fine is issued to the car owner — us — and re-invoiced to the renter, which is why we ask you to tell your manager about any ticket rather than wait for it to reach the agreement. Fuel is the other line item: diesel B7 sits at ฿41.44 a litre and gasohol 95 at ฿39.94 at the pump. Nong Nooch and Khao Chi Chan are 24.4 km and 23.3 km out; Bang Saen is 47.6 km. For Koh Larn, leave the car at Bali Hai — the ferry is passenger-only.

Insurance and fines for your weekly car rental in Pattaya

Every car we hand over in Pattaya carries compulsory motor insurance — Por Ror Bor — which protects people you might injure, and it travels with the registered vehicle rather than with the driver. First-class cover, the product that deals with damage to the metal you are sitting in, is arranged separately; its terms and the excess belong to the rental agreement, not to a brochure.

What that means across a week behind the wheel: the compulsory policy follows the car, so it stands behind third parties, never the bodywork. Anything above that line is a commercial product with its own conditions, and those conditions are written into the contract you receive.

A foreign visitor needs a home driving licence plus an International Driving Permit under the 1949 Geneva Convention, recognised here through section 42 bis of the Motor Vehicle Act. Citizens of ASEAN countries may drive on their national licence without one. Driving without the permit carries a fine of ฿500–1,000, and an insurer may refuse a claim — so the permit is worth carrying even on a short weekly booking.

Fines and cameras

Speed limits on the roads you will use are 80 km/h in built-up areas, 90 km/h outside them and 120 km/h on Motorway 7, and a sign can lower any of those. Motorway 7 is policed mainly by speed cameras, and a camera fine is issued to the car owner — us — then re-invoiced to the renter. The fine itself is up to ฿1,000, usually ฿500 by receipt. Traffic keeps to the left and every car is right-hand drive, so take the first hour slowly.

Extending a weekly rental or moving to a monthly one

Longer bookings are priced with the same two multipliers we use everywhere: weekly is the daily rate × 6, monthly is the daily rate × 21. Nothing changes on the road — the car, the class and the daily figure stay as agreed, and only the number of days in the booking changes.

Extending a week without swapping the car

• Tell the manager before the current week ends: the extension is agreed with a manager, and the same car stays with you if it is not already booked for the following days.
• Payment is agreed when booking: the deposit and the security hold are set out in the rental agreement, not decided on the spot.

What a month costs compared with a week

A monthly booking is the daily rate × 21, so the same Economy car that comes to ฿4,140 for a week comes to ฿14,490 for a month — one multiplier on top of the other, never a percentage and never a per-day discount invented on the day. For a couple on a longer stay, the Mitsubishi Attrage at ฿890 a day is ฿5,340 a week and ฿18,690 a month; a seven-seat Mitsubishi Xpander at ฿1,290 a day comes to ฿7,740 and ฿27,090.
