Driving to Oman and other border questions
Oman is a separate country and needs its own permit and its own insurance — it is not covered by the policy on a standard UAE rental. The same applies to any route that leaves the country.
Off-road driving is prohibited by the rental agreement. Desert safaris, dune bashing and wadi excursions are run by tour operators with their own vehicles and their own insurance — book those separately and leave the car at the hotel.
