Car rental agreement — public summary

This document is a plain-language summary of the car rental agreement you sign with Rent-Trip. It applies to every rental we make, wherever you book. We hand cars over in six countries whose rules differ, so the binding conditions are those of the country where the car is handed over, as set out in the rental agreement signed there.

Subject of the agreement

The agreement you sign sets out the terms on which we provide a vehicle from our fleet for personal or business use. It covers the period, the condition of the car and the obligations of both sides. Where a condition differs by country, it is stated below.

  • Thailand: The vehicle is provided clean, with a full tank, and includes unlimited mileage on Phuket. In Thailand, hire is available from 1 day and rates include VAT 7%. The agreement is in Thai, as required by the OCPB notification on controlled contracts effective 30 December 2025, and the Thai version prevails in all matters.
  • the USA (Florida): The vehicle is provided clean, with a full tank, and mileage within the State of Florida is unlimited. In Florida, hire is available from 1 day and rates are quoted per day before taxes and fees. In Florida, the full agreement is signed in person at hand-over; it is written in English, and translations are provided for convenience only, with the English version prevailing.
  • the UAE: The vehicle class and rental period are specified in the booking confirmation. The car is supplied with a full tank of fuel, and the fee includes 250 km per day. VAT at 5% is added to the rate and any additional charges.
  • Turkey: The subject of the contract is the determination of the rights and obligations of the parties in the distance car rental transaction made through Rent-Trip. The vehicle is delivered well-maintained and clean. In Turkey, the fee is collected at reservation and includes VAT (20%).

Booking and confirmation

A booking is made through our contact channels — WhatsApp, phone or email — and the rental starts at the agreed time and place, with the car delivered to you. Where a rule differs, the country line below applies.

  • Thailand: You receive a confirmation with the details of your booking; delivery across Phuket and to Phuket International Airport is free, and the place and time are agreed when you book.
  • the USA (Florida): The booking is confirmed when we issue a confirmation number, and the agreement is signed in person at hand-over — we inspect the physical licence and witness your signature under Florida Statute 322.38.
  • the UAE: The agreement is concluded when we confirm the booking and you pay the required deposit or full amount as applicable, and you present valid documents at pickup.
  • Turkey: The reservation is finalised when you confirm the selected vehicle and services and make the payment; the contract is deemed concluded the moment the confirmation is sent to you by email or SMS.

Who may rent

The minimum age to rent is 21. Conditions for drivers under 25 and for premium classes are set out in the rental agreement you sign.

  • Thailand: The minimum age is 21; conditions for drivers under 25 and for premium classes are set out in the rental agreement.
  • the USA (Florida): The minimum age is 21. Drivers aged 21–24 pay a young driver fee, the amount of which is quoted at booking. Some premium classes and passenger vans may require the driver to be at least 25, as stated in the rental agreement.
  • the UAE: The minimum age is 21; for luxury, sports and exotic car classes it is 25. All drivers must hold a valid driving licence.
  • Turkey: The minimum age of the renter and additional drivers, and the required length of driving experience, vary with the class of the car and rise for upper-class vehicles. The exact requirements are set out in the rental agreement.

Documents

Wherever you rent, we ask for the same core set: a passport, a valid home driving licence, and a card in the main driver's name. Country rules on an International Driving Permit and on which card we accept differ.

  • Thailand: passport, home driving licence, and an International Driving Permit issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention and section 42 bis of the Motor Vehicle Act; ASEAN citizens may use their national licence.
  • the USA (Florida): a physical driver's licence, which we inspect under FS 322.38 — digital licences are not accepted; an IDP is not required (HB 7059, 2013); international visitors also show a passport.
  • the UAE: residents present an Emirates ID and a UAE licence; tourists present a passport, a visa or entry stamp, and a home licence, plus an IDP if that licence is not in Latin script.
  • Turkey: citizens present an ID and a licence; foreign visitors present a passport with an entry stamp, a home licence, and an IDP if the licence is not in Latin script.

Payment and what the price includes

Wherever you collect the car, the fee is due at the start of the period or as agreed when you book, and the taxes added to the rate differ by country.

  • Thailand: VAT 7% is included in the prices shown; accepted payment methods are set out in the rental agreement.
  • the USA (Florida): prices are quoted before tax — 6.5% sales tax in Orange County, 7.5% in Osceola, 7% in Seminole and Polk — plus a rental car surcharge of $2.00 per day or part of a day for the first 30 days.
  • the UAE: VAT at 5% is added to the rate and any additional charges and is shown separately on your invoice.
  • Turkey: KDV (VAT 20%) is included in the fee; additional services such as delivery and an additional driver are charged separately.

Security hold

We place a security hold on a bank card in the main driver's name. The amount is set out in the rental agreement you sign, and it is released after the car is returned and inspected, subject to any deductions for damage, fines or missing fuel.

  • Thailand: A bank card in the main driver's name is used for the security hold; the amount is set out in the rental agreement. The hold is released after the vehicle is returned and inspected, subject to any deductions for damage or violations.
  • the USA (Florida): A security hold is placed on a credit card in the main driver's name at pickup; the amount is specified in the rental agreement and is released upon return of the vehicle, subject to any additional charges.
  • the UAE: A security deposit is held on your credit or debit card at the start of the rental; the amount varies by vehicle class and is specified in the booking. It is released after the car is returned and inspected, provided there are no outstanding charges or damages; release times depend on the bank's processing.
  • Turkey: At vehicle delivery, a security block is made on a credit card issued in the main driver's name. The deposit amount and refund conditions are set out in the rental agreement.

Insurance and what it covers

Every hire includes the cover the law of the country where you collect the car requires, and the documents you receive set out what that cover pays for and what remains your responsibility. Optional cover, if offered, is agreed when you book.

  • Thailand: Compulsory insurance (Por Ror Bor) is attached to every vehicle and covers injury to third parties. Class 1 insurance covers damage to the car, subject to an excess. What Class 1 covers and the excess amount are set out in the rental agreement.
  • the USA (Florida): Every agreement includes Florida state-minimum liability coverage — Personal Injury Protection and Property Damage Liability under the state's no-fault law. A Loss Damage Waiver is included in the rate; it waives our claims for damage to the vehicle and is not insurance. Its terms and deductible are set out in the rental agreement. Supplemental Liability Insurance and personal accident coverage may be offered when you book.
  • the UAE: Comprehensive insurance with a Collision Damage Waiver is included in the price. It does not cover tyres, wheels, undercarriage or interior, or damage caused by driving under the influence, reckless driving or driving on prohibited roads. You remain responsible for the first portion of any claim; the excess depends on the vehicle class and is disclosed when you book.
  • Turkey: The cover for the vehicle is limited to compulsory traffic insurance (zorunlu trafik sigortası), and the scope of any additional package is set out in the rental agreement you sign.

Liability for damage

Wherever you take a car from us, you are liable for damage to the vehicle that is not covered by insurance, or that exceeds the insurance excess, and for any loss or damage caused by a breach of the agreement you sign.

  • Thailand: The excess amount and the scope of Class 1 coverage are specified in the rental agreement.
  • the USA (Florida): The Loss Damage Waiver is included in the rate and its deductible and exclusions are set out in the rental agreement.
  • the UAE: Comprehensive insurance with a Collision Damage Waiver is included, but you remain responsible for the first portion of any claim, the deductible, unless you purchase additional coverage.
  • Turkey: Insurance coverage for the vehicle is limited to compulsory traffic insurance; the scope of additional insurance packages is set out in the rental agreement.

Tolls and fines

Tolls, traffic-camera fines and parking penalties incurred while the car is with you are your responsibility, and where a notice reaches us after the vehicle is back we re-invoice you for the amount plus an administrative fee as set out in the agreement.

  • Thailand: Traffic-camera fines are issued to the car owner and re-invoiced to you, including any administration fee as set out in the agreement.
  • the USA (Florida): Many expressways, such as SR 408, 417, 528, 429, 414 and Florida's Turnpike, are cashless; unpaid tolls are billed to the vehicle owner under FS 316.1001 and re-invoiced to you with an administrative fee, and we may pass your information to toll agencies for direct billing.
  • the UAE: Salik toll charges are billed at cost and deducted from your security deposit or charged to your payment method afterwards, and any traffic fines incurred during the period are your responsibility.
  • Turkey: HGS tolls and traffic fines incurred during the period are the renter's responsibility; the HGS tag is present in the vehicle and tolls are collected as specified in the contract.

Prohibited use

Some uses are prohibited wherever you hire from us, and breaching them may void your cover and make you fully liable for the resulting damage or loss.

  • Thailand: No off-road, beach or jungle-track driving, no use as a taxi or ride-hailing vehicle, no racing, and no travel beyond the provinces agreed in the agreement. Crossing a border requires our prior written consent.
  • the USA (Florida): No off-road, unpaved-road or beach driving, no carrying passengers or cargo for hire, no illegal activity, no driving outside the United States, and no unauthorised driver at the wheel.
  • the UAE: No racing, towing or off-road driving, no carrying passengers or goods for hire or reward, and no driving outside the country without prior written permission — a separate permit and additional insurance are required for Oman.
  • Turkey: No racing, no criminal or unlawful use, no driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, no taking the vehicle out of the country without permission, and no transferring it to third parties.

Cancellation, early return and force majeure

How you cancel, what happens to unused days and what occurs when events beyond anyone's control interrupt a booking are set out in the agreement you sign. The conditions differ by country.

  • Thailand: Cancellation terms are set out in the rental agreement. If you return the vehicle earlier than the agreed date, you may be eligible for a refund of unused days, subject to those terms. No refunds are given for late returns.
  • the USA (Florida): Cancellation and no-show terms are set out in the rental agreement and depend on the rate plan chosen. If the National Hurricane Center issues a Hurricane Warning for Orange, Osceola or Seminole County, or if MCO or SFB is closed, you may cancel or move your booking at no charge.
  • the UAE: The renter may terminate early, subject to the cancellation policy stated at booking. In case of termination, the renter is liable for charges up to the date of return.
  • Turkey: Cancel at least 24 hours before the rental start and the full amount is refunded; for later cancellations a partial deduction may apply. Unused days are not refunded on early return.

Applicable law

The agreement you sign is governed by the law of the country where you collect the car, and any dispute is heard by the courts named for that country. The conditions of that country are set out in the agreement.

  • Thailand: The agreement is governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand, including the Consumer Protection Act B.E. 2522 (1979); disputes fall to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Phuket province.
  • the USA (Florida): The agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Florida, and any legal action must be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in Orange County, Florida.
  • the UAE: The agreement is governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates and the Emirate of Dubai; disputes fall to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Dubai.
  • Turkey: Turkish Republic laws apply; in disputes, the Istanbul Anatolian and European courts and enforcement offices are authorised.
