Rates and features of Hyundai models

The most affordable option is the Hyundai i10 at 1,600 TRY per day: a compact hatchback with seating for four passengers, a 1.0 L petrol engine, suitable for the narrow streets and parking spots in the city center. One level up, the i20 comes with a 1.4 L engine and 100 horsepower — the same economy, but more space in the cabin and trunk.

For long journeys, the Elantra and Bayon are suitable — both at 2,200 TL per day, but with different architectures. The sedan Elantra, with a 1.6 L engine and 123 hp, provides comfort at high speeds, while the higher-riding crossover Bayon is useful on dirt roads to the coast. At 3,200 TL per day, the Tucson is the only hybrid model in the range; 180 hp from a 1.6 L significantly reduces fuel consumption in city traffic.

The Staria minivan at 5,500 TL per day is the most spacious solution: nine seats and a 2.2 L diesel engine with range for routes lasting about eight hours to Cappadocia. A common rule for all vehicles: the price includes VAT, and additional conditions — deposit amount and insurance options — are set out in the rental agreement.

How to Choose a Hyundai for Your Journey

The choice of a Hyundai in Istanbul depends on the number of passengers, the route, and the budget: from 1,600 TRY for the compact i10 up to 5,500 TRY for the 9-seater Staria. Our fleet has six models, each covering its own scenario: from a solo city trip to a family excursion to Cappadocia.

For city driving: Hyundai i10 and i20

Compact hatchbacks are sufficient for trips on the European and Asian sides (Şişli, Kadıköy, or Beşiktaş). With its 1.0-liter 67 hp engine, the Hyundai i10 can be parked easily in Fatih's narrow streets for 1,600 TL per day, while the i20 with a 1.4-liter 100 hp engine feels safer on bridges and in traffic for 1,750 TL per day. Both models are petrol with automatic transmission, which facilitates city driving with constant stops at traffic lights. If you only plan city driving and short trips to Sarıyer or Üsküdar, choose the i10; the daily difference of 150 TL is noticeable in a weekly rental.

Comfort and long journey: Hyundai Elantra

For a trip to Sapanca (~2 hours) or Bursa via the Osmangazi Bridge, the Elantra sedan at 2,200 TL per day is a reasonable compromise between price and comfort. Its 1.6-liter 123-hp engine runs more quietly on the highway than smaller engines, and the sedan's trunk takes two passengers' suitcases without squeezing the rear seats. On long 8-hour distances to Cappadocia, the difference in sound insulation between the Elantra and the i20 becomes noticeable; this is where the extra 450 TL per day is justified.

For families and large groups: Bayon, Tucson, and Staria

For a family of four or five with a child seat, the crossover Bayon (2,200 TL per day) is suitable; it has higher ground clearance, and the seating position is more comfortable than a sedan. For a nature trip to Şile or Ağva (~1.5 hours), the 180-horsepower hybrid Tucson at 3,200 TL per day is the most powerful car in the range: the hybrid system saves fuel in city traffic. For groups of up to 9 people, the Staria minivan at 5,500 TL per day is needed; its 2.2-liter 177-horsepower diesel engine pulls effortlessly at full load on climbs to Uludağ.

Recommendation: ... specify the number of passengers and the route at the time of booking; if the trip is limited to the city, we'll recommend the i10 or i20, for intercity routes longer than 3 hours we recommend the Comfort class and above. Rental Conditions - Documents and Requirements

To rent a Hyundai in Istanbul, a foreign driver needs a passport with an entry stamp, a national driver's license, and a credit card in the main driver's name. At Rent-Trip, we check documents at delivery and draw up the contract on the spot—we have no physical office; the car comes to you.

Documents for foreign drivers:

• Passport: Foreign passport with an entry stamp for Turkey – the stamp is applied upon arrival at IST or SAW airports.
• Driver's license: The national license of the country of residence; if not written in the Latin alphabet, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is required.
• Credit card: A card in the main driver's name for the insurance deposit; the amount to be blocked is set out in the rental agreement.
• Age and driving experience: Minimum age and experience depend on the vehicle class — requirements for the Hyundai Staria are higher than for the Hyundai i10.

All our Hyundai models have automatic transmission, so no separate manual license is needed. A Turkish license or a category B IDP covers the entire range from the compact i10 to the 9-seat Staria.

Turkish law makes it mandatory to include compulsory traffic insurance, which applies to every vehicle registered in the country, in the rental. Additional insurance packages are discussed when signing the contract, and their contents are set out in the contract.

When delivering the vehicle to the European or Asian side, we verify the driver's details against the contract and record the vehicle's condition. If a second driver will take the wheel, their documents must also be added to the contract; otherwise, insurance coverage will not be valid.

Car Delivery in Istanbul

Rent-Trip delivers Hyundais to any point in the city, from Beyoğlu to Pendik, and to both airports; we have no physical office, so the car comes to you, not you to us. The entire process consists of a single meeting: we hand over the keys, you inspect the car, and sign the contract where the insurance and deposit conditions are stated.

Delivery to IST and SAW

Both airports are in our delivery area, but on different shores: Istanbul Airport (IST) is in Arnavutköy on the European side, and Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) is in Pendik on the Asian side. When ordering, specify your flight number; we will greet you with a sign at the exit and deliver a Hyundai i20 or Tucson with a full tank, and on your return we will pick up the car from the terminal. If your flight is delayed, the driver tracks the situation and arrives the moment you exit.

European and Asian sides

Delivery to Şişli, Beşiktaş, Beyoğlu, Bakırköy, Levent, and Maslak on the European side takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on traffic. On the Asian side, we serve Kadıköy, Üsküdar, Ataşehir, Maltepe, and Ümraniye; we bring vehicles from the same fleet here as well. Intercontinental crossings are paid via HGS through the bridges and the Eurasia Tunnel, and if your route spans from one shore to the other, let us know in advance; we will adjust the time according to rush hour traffic.

Hotel, office, or private address

• Hotel: we hand the keys to the reception or park the vehicle in the guest parking lot; state the reservation name, so we can register the vehicle under that name.
• Office: We deliver the Hyundai Elantra or Bayon to your business center during business hours and sign the contract in the lobby in 15 minutes.
• Private address: For the housing complexes in Esenyurt or Başakşehir, just give the apartment number; security lets our driver in according to the pre-notified list.

If you are staying outside the city—in Şile, Ağva, or Sapanca—delivery is also possible, but since the travel time increases, you need to order your car at least a day in advance. When returning the car, we inspect it together with you and record the condition in a report—this takes 10 minutes, and then you are free.

HGS and Road Tolls

When traveling with Hyundai, the amounts you need to pay for bridges and tunnels around Istanbul are collected via HGS. Crossings between the two continents in the city and out-of-town connections operate with an electronic toll system; there is no cash payment option.

What is HGS and how does it work?

HGS (Fast Pass System) is an electronic system that provides automatic passage at bridge and highway toll booths using the balance defined to your vehicle's plate. All bridge and highway crossings in Turkey operate through this system; you do not need to stop and pay cash at the booth. Rent-Trip vehicles come with an HGS tag, and tolls are calculated after use as set out in the rental agreement. Penalties for unpaid passages can be up to four times the toll; therefore, there is no need to worry about crossings you do not use—the system only records actual passages.

Bridge and Tunnel Tolls

For in-city crossings, the most economical option is the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge; the Eurasia Tunnel operates with a discounted tariff at night. You use the Osmangazi Bridge only when going towards Bursa or Uludağ; you are not subject to this fee for in-city transportation.

Which Hyundai Model for Which Route?

• Hyundai i10 and i20: Ideal for short city distances; economical options ranging from 1,600-1,750 TL per day.
• Hyundai Elantra and Bayon: Offers comfort on intercity trips; suitable for routes like Sapanca or Edirne.

Since all toll fees are processed through HGS, you do not need to check whether the balance is sufficient when you pick up the vehicle; charges after use are set out in the agreement.

Daily, Weekly and Monthly Rental

The rental format directly affects the daily price: the longer the duration, the lower the rate. At Rent-Trip, the daily rate for Hyundai i20 is 1,750 TL; weekly starts from 9,600 TL, and monthly from 33,600 TL, VAT included.

Calculation principles for weekly and monthly rates

The weekly rate equals the daily rate multiplied by six, and the monthly rate by twenty-one. This means you pay for six days on a seven-day rental and twenty-one days on a thirty-day rental: two days off per week and nine rest days per month are not charged.

• Weekly rental: ... daily rate × 6 days — starts at 9,600 TL for the Hyundai i10.
• Monthly rental: ... daily rate × 21 days — starts at 33,600 TL for the Hyundai i10.
• Savings: In long-term rental, the actual daily rate is lower than the standard daily rate.
• Calculation for other models: Elantra (2,200 TRY/day) — from 13,200 TRY weekly, Tucson (3,200 TRY/day) — from 67,200 TRY monthly.

For a 10-14 day trip, the weekly package with extension is more advantageous than separate days: in the case of the Hyundai Bayon, the difference over two weeks reaches 2,200 TL.

2. A short trip of 3-5 days usually does not require a weekly rate; the daily rate is sufficient. However, if the route includes Cappadocia (~8 hours of driving) or Edirne, the weekly rate eliminates the problem of daily extensions.

• 3. 1-3 days: 4. daily rate is suitable for exploring the city and trips on the Asian and European sides.
• 5. For 7 days or more: 6. The weekly rate is advantageous when combining Istanbul with a 2-3 day trip to Sapanca or Bursa.
• 7. One month and longer: 8. The monthly rate is calculated for long-term stays, business trips, or a progressive trip around Turkey.

9. In a monthly reservation, clarify the extension procedure in the contract: if plans change, the contract states the possibility of switching from the monthly rate to the weekly rate. We usually recommend adding spare days from the start; the surcharge for extra days is more expensive than a day within a long package.

The Right Hyundai for a Weekend Getaway

When planning a short getaway from Istanbul, the right model varies according to the distance to be traveled and the number of passengers. For routes of ~1.5 hours like Şile or Ağva, compact class is sufficient, while for distant points like Sapanca (~2 hours) or Bursa, it is necessary to switch to comfort class.

Compact Option for Şile and Ağva

For a weekend getaway to Şile or Ağva, the Hyundai i10 (1,600 TL/day) is a sufficient choice: with 4 seats, a petrol engine, and a compact body, it offers advantages on narrow coastal roads and in village centers. For a couple, the trunk space easily accommodates a few days' luggage and picnic supplies. For a group of five, however, the i20 (1,750 TL/day) is more sensible—with a 1.4 L engine and 100 hp, it handles light inclines without strain. On weekend return traffic, congestion increases after 18:00 on Sunday evening; therefore, planning an early return saves both time and fuel.

Comfort Class for Sapanca and Bursa

A two-hour drive to Sapanca or a crossing to Bursa via the Osmangazi Bridge justifies the comfort class. The Elantra (2,200 TL/day) with its 1.6 L engine and 123 hp offers a quiet and balanced drive at motorway speeds; its trunk easily accommodates two couples' weekend luggage and souvenirs bought on the way back. The Bayon (2,200 TL/day) offers SUV height and crossover flexibility at the same price — ground clearance is advantageous on village roads at the foot of Uludağ. The Osmangazi Bridge toll is 1,170 TL, processed via HGS; this amount should be included in the budget in addition to the daily rental fee.

What to Pay Attention to During Vehicle Delivery

The checks performed when receiving the car prevent disputes that may arise during return. At Rent-Trip, the current condition of the car is examined together and documented at delivery; this process takes 10 minutes.

• Body inspection: If there are scratches, dents, or wheel damage, they are photographed at delivery and recorded in the report.
• Fuel level: The vehicle is delivered with a full tank; you must return it at the same level upon return.
• Document check: Passport, driver's license, and credit card information are checked against the contract; if there is a second driver, their documents are added as well.
• HGS status: Whether the vehicle's HGS tag is active is verified at the time of delivery.

During return, the vehicle must be in the same cleanliness as when it was delivered; cigarette smoke or pet residue in the interior may incur additional cleaning fees. If the fuel level is insufficient, the missing amount is calculated at the current pump price as specified in the contract — set out in the rental agreement.
