Weekly and Monthly Rates

A weekly booking equals the daily rate multiplied by six, so the cheapest Mercedes-Benz on this page, the Sprinter, starts at ฿14,400 for the week, and the S-Class at ฿49,200. A monthly booking equals the daily rate multiplied by twenty-one: ฿50,400 for the Sprinter at the bottom of the range, ฿172,200 for the S-Class at the top. The longer you keep the car, the lower the cost of each individual day works out — that is the whole arithmetic behind the two multipliers, and we apply them to every model in the fleet without exception. The exact total for your dates is confirmed when you book, and anything beyond the rate itself — a delivery fee, a security hold, the excess under Class 1 insurance — is set out in the rental agreement, not invented here.

What Changes the Figure

• Class: Premium starts at ฿3,500 a day and Minivans at ฿2,400 — the Sprinter is the only 11-seater on this page, so a group of six or more has exactly one Mercedes-Benz choice.
• Duration: one day is the minimum hire period; a week is charged as six daily rates and a month as twenty-one.

Documents, IDP and Insurance for Your Rental

Driving a Mercedes-Benz in Bangkok needs three documents from you: a passport, your home driving licence, and — for most visitors — an International Driving Permit.

Licence, IDP and Driver Age

• International Driving Permit: issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention and recognised in Thailand alongside your national licence. Citizens of ASEAN countries drive on their national licence without one.
• Minimum driver age: 21. Conditions for drivers under 25 and for premium classes are set out in the rental agreement.
• Bank card: in the main driver's name, used for the security hold; the amount is set out in the agreement.

The legal basis is section 42 bis of the Motor Vehicle Act. Drive without a permit and the police fine runs ฿500–1,000 — and an insurer may refuse a claim after an accident, which costs far more than the fine.

Insurance and the Rental Agreement

Every registered car in Thailand carries compulsory motor insurance, Por Ror Bor, which covers injury to third parties. It does not cover the car itself. First-class, or Class 1, insurance covers damage to the Mercedes-Benz you are renting; its terms and the excess are set out in the rental agreement, so read that clause before you drive away.

Since 30 December 2025 a car rental agreement is a contract controlled by the OCPB. It is written in Thai, and every fee and penalty is disclosed in it.

Ask the manager at booking which conditions apply to your licence and age — the answer depends on both, and it is better settled before the car is delivered than at hand-over.

Booking runs through a manager, not an instant checkout. You tell us the model, the dates and the delivery address; we confirm availability and fix the booking once all three are agreed. A bank card in the main driver's name is used for the security hold — the amount is set out in the rental agreement, not quoted here.

Driving here is not hard — it is just unfamiliar. Traffic keeps to the left, every car we hand over is right-hand drive, and the expressways are cash-or-tag.

Left-Hand Traffic and Expressway Tolls

Traffic in Thailand keeps to the left and every car is right-hand drive, including the five Mercedes-Benz models on this page. Urban expressways run by EXAT — Chaloem Maha Nakhon and Si Rat are the two you will use most — take cash or a tag: Easy Pass and M-PASS are interchangeable, but one car carries one tag. A short passenger-car run usually lands somewhere around ฿50–฿100, though that is a guide rather than an official EXAT grid. If you are heading south to Pattaya, Motorway 7 is 149.3 km long and reaches Pattaya at the 125.865 km mark; from the Lat Krabang entrance a passenger car pays ฿25 to Bang Bo, ฿100 to Pong and ฿105 to Pattaya, with around ฿105–฿130 for the whole run.

Parking and Camera Fines

Malls are the easy answer for parking, and the rules differ by centre. CentralWorld gives two hours free, then ฿20 an hour, rising to ฿50 an hour after six. ICONSIAM gives two hours free, charges ฿30 for the third hour and ฿60 an hour after seven. Terminal 21 Asok gives three hours free, then ฿20 an hour for hours four to six and ฿50 from the seventh. Central Bangna allows six hours free, while Esplanade Ratchada, PARA Pinklao and Central Festival Eastville are free outright. Camera fines are issued to the car owner, which means us, and re-invoiced to the renter, so what you do with the number plate does reach you.

Speed Limits and the Motorway 9 Trap

• Built-up areas: 80 km/h inside built-up areas, including central Bangkok streets.
• Outside built-up areas: 90 km/h, rising to 120 km/h on the motorways.
• Expressways: 110 km/h on the elevated expressway network.
• Motorway 7 and Motorway 9: 120 km/h; on Motorway 7 the limit is enforced mainly by speed cameras.
• Motorway 9 payment: M-Flow has no barrier — a camera reads the plate, the bill follows later; M-PASS also works.
• M-Flow deadline: without registration you have two days to pay by plate through the M-Flow site, app, QR, bank or ATM; from day three the tariff doubles, then adds a penalty of ten times the tariff and can end up in court.
• The rental catch: confirm with the manager at booking whether the car is linked to a tag before you rely on barrier-free lanes.

Speed limits drop where signs say so, and the fine for a camera-issued speeding offence is up to ฿1,000, usually settled at ฿500 on the receipt. Ask about the tag at hand-over rather than discovering an unpaid M-Flow bill later.
