How weekly and monthly pickup truck rates are calculated
- Weekly rate: the daily rate multiplied by six, so the cheapest truck on the page comes to ฿7,800 for a week.
- Monthly rate: the daily rate multiplied by twenty-one, which puts the Isuzu D-Max at ฿27,300 for a month.
- VAT: the 7% tax is already inside every figure shown, so the rate card is the price of the truck itself.
The multiplier is the same for all five models, so the step between a week and a month does not change with the truck you pick. In practice, a guest who books a Hilux Revo for a week pays ฿10,800, and one who keeps the same truck for a month pays ฿37,800 — the arithmetic is visible on the card above, and any long-stay terms are set out in the rental agreement.
What the rental agreement sets out
The deposit, the insurance excess, the young-driver conditions and any delivery fee are all written into the rental agreement and agreed when booking, so we quote no figure for them here. A bank card in the main driver's name is used for the security hold, and the amount is stated in that same agreement. Drivers must be at least 21, and the conditions for anyone under 25 are set out in the agreement as well.
One thing worth knowing before you commit to a long booking: the high season runs from 20 December to 31 March.

What we need from you before the booking is fixed
- Model and dates: tell us which of the five trucks you want — Isuzu D-Max, Mazda BT-50, Mitsubishi Triton, Toyota Hilux Revo or Ford Ranger — and the days you need it.
- Delivery address: any address on the island works, including Samui International Airport (USM); the exact spot is agreed with a manager when booking.
- Documents: a passport, your home driving licence and an International Driving Permit, unless you hold an ASEAN licence — citizens of ASEAN countries drive on their national licence.
- Bank card: the security hold is taken on a card in the main driver's name; the amount is set out in the rental agreement.

Compulsory motor insurance, Por Ror Bor, is attached to every registered car and covers injury to third parties; first-class insurance covers damage to the car, and its terms and the excess are set out in the agreement.
Renting a pickup truck on Koh Samui with licences and insurance
The paperwork matters more than the model you pick: Thai law asks a foreign visitor for a home driving licence plus an International Driving Permit, and the island's roads ask for something else — patience on a two-lane ring road with no divider.
What you need to drive legally on Koh Samui
- Home driving licence: your national licence, valid and carried with you for the whole hire period.
- International Driving Permit: the 1949 Geneva Convention document, required alongside the home licence under section 42 bis of the Motor Vehicle Act; ASEAN nationals drive on their national licence instead.
- Without an IDP: the police fine runs ฿500–1,000, and an insurer may refuse a claim.
- Minimum age: 21; conditions for drivers under 25 and for premium classes are set out in the rental agreement.
- Security hold: a bank card in the main driver's name; the amount is set out in the rental agreement.
- Documents at hand-over: passport, home driving licence, International Driving Permit unless you are an ASEAN citizen, and the bank card.
Insurance, fines and what the agreement covers
Por Ror Bor, the compulsory cover carried by every registered vehicle here, pays for injury caused to other people. Since 30 December 2025 a car rental agreement in Thailand is a contract controlled by the OCPB: it is written in Thai, and every charge and penalty is spelled out in it. VAT 7% is included in the prices shown. On a pickup the load rules are worth knowing before you leave the kerb: children under six travel in a TISI-standard child seat, anyone under 135 cm uses a restraint, and every passenger in the cabin wears a seatbelt. A child may never ride in the bed.
The ring road around the island runs 51 km and links the lowland and the coast, passing Nathon, Lipa Noi, Lamai, Chaweng, Bophut and Maenam. Expect potholes, some deep, standing water after rain, oil patches left by refuse trucks, and animals on the road.
Where you can take a pickup truck rented in Koh Samui
The island is 228.7 km² and a 51 km ring road links the lowland and the coast, so a pickup covers every resort on it — Nathon, Lipa Noi, Lamai, Chaweng, Bophut and Maenam. Beyond that ring, the question is not distance but permission.
Ferries, the mainland and what the agreement allows
Most operators here do not allow the car to leave at all — damage or a breakdown on the mainland is expensive to recover. Some make an exception when you book for two weeks or more; others ask you to agree it with the manager before the booking is fixed. Where a crossing is allowed, the car goes on the ferry as a vehicle, and the passenger ticket is separate.
- Koh Phangan: Raja Ferry Port runs Lipa Noi — Thong Sala in about 1 h 30 min; from Don Sak the crossing to Phangan takes 2 h 30 min, with departures at 05:00, 08:00, 11:00, 14:00 and 18:00.
- Don Sak and the mainland: Raja Ferry Port sails Don Sak — Lipa Noi hourly from 05:00 to 19:00, 15 crossings each way, about 1 h 30 min, with extra sailings at peak times.
- Surat Thani: the pier at Don Sak is 66.1 km from the city centre, about 61 min; Surat Thani International Airport (URT) is 94.0 km, about 91 min.
- Khanom and Khao Sok: 26.5 km / 30 min and 191.8 km / 173 min from the Don Sak pier respectively, measured without traffic.
Those distances are road measurements from the pier, not a route we arrange.
Where the truck is not the right tool
Off-road tracks, beach sand and jungle trails are excluded by the rental agreement — the pickups we deliver are rear-wheel drive with an open bed, not four-wheel drive. On the ring road the hazards are the ordinary ones: potholes, sometimes deep, standing water after rain, oil patches from refuse trucks and animals on the carriageway.
